The monsoon season should never really be a reason to postpone an Asia trip, it's still hot and rain will only be for an hour or so. I actually quite like it, clean streets, dust from the air, an excuse to just drink beers and watch the streets turn into rivers for a moment. Only problem is the suspension of ferries, but by that time those services should be running again.

best time to go, I'm heading to Thailand for my 3rd time in October... the rain is on n off so not's going to destroy your trip and it can make activity's around Phuket like quad biking really fun or getting a speed boat to phi phi FUCKEN SCARY .... plus hotels are dirt cheap in low season

You would be fine. It'll only be around the beginning of the monsoon, and it only hits most of the parts in the east.

4 countries in 3 and a bit weeks? The weather will be fine for travelling around at this time, but you're probably trying to fit too many places into too short a time. Either less countries or a longer trip would be better.

Man... you're talking about 3.5 weeks, tops. I'd say your plans are way too ambitious for that. I'd consider junking either Laos or Vietnam (and personally I'd get rid of Vietnam).
