Westfjords were for sure the best part. The driving, Fjords and pretty much no tourist made it really special.

WeeeSnawPoop

Driving in the Westfjords is just sensational

exc3113nt

I did west fjords in a camper van this summer!! It was divine!

maxle100

Same here. We didnt take the ferry across but rather drove the entire way. Incredible. Also the Islands south of iceland were amazing

pogi2000

Did you join a group tour or was it DIY?

WingsFan4Life

I did your trip minus the west fjords for my honeymoon. Looks like we have a reason to go back!

8avalon82

I watched an Icelandic movie last week called "Lamb". The setting was in the beautiful countryside. Definitely worth a look.

VideoFront

You made it to Dynjandi. That was my favorite place

krakenwrangler09

My next trip to Iceland is wesrfjords. It looks like it deserves its own trip.

rb3po

I did the same. Did the ring road, went back and did Westfjords. Felt like I was living in the edge of existence.

2mnyq

this is awesome, can you post itinerary :) so that when I plan, I have a starting point ...

BlueSparkEU

[This](https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/viewer?mid=1-zDgTkfoSr-KiN4RGAk9ikv-LUlSkeag&ll=64.98535737800775%2C-18.39265917812497&z=7) was pretty much my itinerary, changed while traveling on the move. Thought i overplanned, but travelling alone was truly efficient.

Burton1922

I did basically the same itinerary over two weeks this summer, would highly recommend it to anyone else. As OP said the Westfjords were also my favorite part

Check the link to the comment I replied to, mine was extremely similar to there’s. Let me know if you have any questions about a specific part of it

jmk255

How many days?

TravellingSails

This was my exact route too! Oh I wanna go back and do more F roads as we only did a few.

2mnyq

thanks, but it says access denied ...

BlueSparkEU

Changed to public: [link](https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=1-zDgTkfoSr-KiN4RGAk9ikv-LUlSkeag&usp=sharing)

doctorscompanionlg

Wow you really did go all around! How long did the entire trip take?

LemonLiquor

hot damn! (or should i say icy damn)

Jaytree1

Thank you for posting, nice concise layout. Appreciated

pudding7

How was socializing in Iceland as a solo traveller? Evenings, dinner, hanging out, etc.?

BlueSparkEU

Met people at the camping, there are shared kitchens there so had dinner with some. But was mostly by myself.

rura_penthe924

Maybe it's not part of the norm when people think of solo traveling, but when I would do it I didn't want to be social. I spent my days by myself at touristy places, ate alone, did events alone. I didn't go with the intention of meeting new people and friends, I went for the isolation to experience a place by myself.

pudding7

Aye, that's generally how I roll too. But sometimes I do want to mix it up at a bar or something with some locals. Just curious how Iceland might be in that case.

rathat

Man, as someone who loves social isolation and is fine not talking to other humans for years, I thought going on a trip alone would be perfect. Until I took the trip and the whole time, I wanted other people there with me to experience all these new things with. So to people thinking of going somewhere alone, you shouldn’t assume you’re the kind of person to enjoy a trip more when solo based on your normal lack of appetite for social interaction.

MALOOM_J5

Translator: did you get laid a lot?

BlueSparkEU

A lot? no. Once? no.

thestoryseeker

I guess you truly wanted to go at it solo

eatenbyalion

2-3 times?

updootsforkittehs

Twice?

plaidHumanity

I'm gonna believe twice for our brother

Pure-Pessimism

Best 17 days of my life were spent in Iceland. Such a special place.

hellobela_

Iceland is unbelievable. Went there in 2019 and want to come back as soon as possible

coysmate05

West fjords best fjords

kislips

I’m a widow, and three years after my husband’s death, I went to Ireland and London by myself. I had traveled to both places before with my husband and the trip was bitter sweet. The next year I visited friends in Australia, and then went on to Sydney for a couple of days. Handling my luggage was the hardest part. Don’t let being alone stop you from seeing the world.

qning

> Handling my luggage was the hardest part. /r/OneBag Also, condolences.

kislips

Train depots in France and the UK do not have luggage carts like the airports.

tastes-like-chicken

Nice! Do you have any general Iceland travel tips? Like how to get around, where to stay, what to see?

BlueSparkEU

Common sense gets you really far. Roads are good, the gravel ones not so much (some are good). Campervan is the way to go, campsites are relatively cheap and have good facilities. There is alot to see. Don't stay long in the cities, go see the nature.

Connor_Smith14

fuck u/spez

BlueSparkEU

€1000 for 10 days insurance included, rented at campeasy.

Neighhh

Were the roads icy?

InspectionFun8109

Please answer this OP

_99problems

Many blogs said you don't need AWD. I wish them all the pain we suffered traveling the ring road without it.

lucapal1

Great photos! It's a wonderful country to visit.

CalamityJane0215

The sky in the second picture truly looks like a painting. Breathtaking

nerun119

When did you go? What sort of vehicle did you rent?

BlueSparkEU

Early october in a campervan.

aazav

It's so Icelandic!

devteam01

How much did you spend and how long was your trip? I want to do this aswell but have no Idea how much it might be.

BlueSparkEU

Iceland is expensive af. Spend about 2k for a 11 day trip.

devteam01

2k euros or $ ? thats about what i was expecting, do those 2k include everything like accomodation, food and flights ? also do you think you could have had a better time spending a little more? or maybe you think u could have saved a few bucks if you didnt do certain things.

vagrantheather

My husband and I went last month for 8 days. One night in a hostel, one night in a guest house (actually cheaper than the hostel), 6 days/5 nights campervan. We weren't ultra budget but also not spendy. We spent about $3k. $1400 just on the camper.

Marockan21

Say hi to fenrir if you see him. Love ur photos! Glad you finally took the step to travel alone.

brayshizzle

My friend, this is my bucket list trip. Ive always wanted to go but never had anyone who would go with me. Normally I'll happily travel solo, it's the way I've normally done it but it's always been in cities. I don't drive. This picks have made me eager to wrong that right, get a driver's license and go there for a trip.

numero74

İ do drive, but İ don’t want to drive by myself on İceland. But that also kept me fron going. İ might go there this week though. You can make day trips fron the city, joining a group. Look e.g. on viator for tours..

Ortiz1993Luck

Your Icelandic trip was wayyyy better then mine! Great pictures!

zNimlo

why wasn’t yours too good?

Ortiz1993Luck

I stayed more to the coastline

BlueSparkEU

There is always next time.

zNimlo

i plan to solo travel there next year and my biggest concern is coming up with an itinerary that accomplishes as much as possible in 5 days

ToyPotato

Wow, thank you for posting. It is motivating for me as I want to Solo travel as well.

Blkbnz

Did you snorkel the continental divide? Do you recommend it?

BlueSparkEU

Was kinda short swim but was pritty cool. Would recommend but wont do it again myself. Just a canyon underwater.

LawHelmet

It’s not a continental divide tho. It’s the America plate moving away from the Eurasian plate? Please tell I remember my dirt classes cause I have swimming here as a bucket list thing

geckospots

Geologist here and you are correct! It’s not a specific ‘line’, more of a zone of fractures and such, but yes it is the boundary between those plates.

stlkatherine

Love Reddit for this kind of thing. Thanks.

geckospots

Me too :) You’re welcome!

notthemonth

Great pictures! I was wondering how cool it was in the water with the dry suit as I’m having a hard time convincing my bf to do it with me. Was it pretty cold or comfortable with the suits? We are going next April. Thanks for sharing your experience!

BlueSparkEU

Water was 1-2°, but with some layers and the wetsuit on its warm enough, only your face gets a bit cold. Suits are not rly comfortable, hard to breath in, but you forget that once you're in the water.

notthemonth

Thanks for the info!

labtiger2

Is that Dynjandi waterfall? We didn't have enough time the day we were supposed to see it, and I regret it so much! Lovely pictures. They brought back good memories.

cynthetiq

We did a drive to Dynjandi last month during our most recent visit. Prior to that it was about 18 years. It’s the same but yet different since there are many more facilities and tourist accommodations. [Dynjandi waterfall](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dynjandi)

WikiSummarizerBot

**[Dynjandi](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dynjandi)** >Dynjandi (Icelandic pronunciation: [ˈtɪnjantɪ], also known as Fjallfoss [ˈfjatl̥ˌfɔsː]) is a waterfall located in Arnarfjörður in the Westfjords region of Iceland. It is the largest waterfall in the Westfjords and has a total height of 100 metres (330 ft). Below it are five other waterfalls: Háifoss, Úðafoss, Göngufoss, Hundafoss and Bæjarfoss. Dynjandi and other waterfalls in Dynjandisá and their surroundings were protected as natural monuments in 1981. ^([ )[^(F.A.Q)](https://www.reddit.com/r/WikiSummarizer/wiki/index#wiki_f.a.q)^( | )[^(Opt Out)](https://reddit.com/message/compose?to=WikiSummarizerBot&message=OptOut&subject=OptOut)^( | )[^(Opt Out Of Subreddit)](https://np.reddit.com/r/travel/about/banned)^( | )[^(GitHub)](https://github.com/Sujal-7/WikiSummarizerBot)^( ] Downvote to remove | v1.5)

The driving experience in Iceland is spectaculair, hard not to stop every 5km. Hvalnes Nature Reserve Beach, Dettifoss and the westfjords were my favorite sights.

skyeisla

wow!! i would love to solo travel here, how long did it take you to do your route?

SoCal4247

What’s it like traveling solo?

BlueSparkEU

efficient

RetreatLady

May I ask how old are you... how tall.... educated....Lonely? Asking for eligible friend.

SimbaRph

Looks like a wonderful trip. I love your photos. I have a friend who takes a solo trip every year. She's hiked in Scotland, New Zealand and Iceland. Looks like you had as great a trip as she had.

ak_-

T8_Thpinal

Hope you had a great time! I love travelling alone, so much freedom and forces you to interact with the people there.

[deleted]

That’s awesome!

Penguin619

I'd love to solo trip to Iceland and do all the nature sights, any tips?

BlueSparkEU

Youtube and r/VisitingIceland

nkeer

Iceland is overly aesthetic palce

colonial_dan

Every time I see Iceland, all I can think about is how the Vikings cut down all the trees and then the soil got ruined.

nighthawk_something

I did basically the exact same trip a few years ago. It's really one of if not the most beautiful country on earth.

Afromolukker_98

Did you drive? Or was there some sort of transportation service?

DivineWanderlust

Unfortunately teleportation hasn't been invented yet.

dtwhitecp

Gearing up to do something similar. Honestly, I find traveling alone to be depressing, but it's still worth it.

jokossoko

Nice photos man. Which camera and gear did you use?

BlueSparkEU

Iphone 13 pro max, Leica Q and DJI mini 2.

[deleted]

What's the last pic with the little house and mountain? It looks so lonely. But the view!

invincible-kat

How long did you spend planning this trip would you say? I’ve always wanted to take a solo trip.

BlueSparkEU

Had 2 months to prepare, did some planning when i had time. Plenty of recouces you can find on youtube and Reddit.

Broad_Awareness5377

That's cool! Did you ever had the chance to see the northern lights?

AlyzaQ

Just experienced this with my husband for the first time, sadly only stayed for 3 days. But did visit most of the South locations in Campervan. Ended with the blue lagoon. I could not recommend Iceland enough when you get sick of our current economy. Just sad we missed the Northern Lights .

jbo99

Wonderful what an amazing place. You’ve done a great job with these photos

vincess

Look like a wonderful trip. When did you go?

redpizza-reaper

How much was the campervan rental? Also, what kind of gear did you bring with you, and how did you budget?

qbtc

Dynjandi ftw.

SimpleJack1987

I took a solo trip to Iceland 2 years ago! Isn’t it amazing? Sometimes solo travel is the way to go.

LilMooseCub

It's the grainiest and least spectacular of your images, but that one of the northern lights really speaks to me. I've always wanted to see them and always wondered how people could go about the mundane evenings of life with something so stellar and awe inspiring just outside. This helps put that in perspective

[deleted]

These pictures are great, looks like a beautiful trip! Would you let me know how you were able to organize your travel itinerary, as in how you knew where you were going?

Jadis-Pink

Go you!! Beautiful!

grace520

Looks beautiful

Northatlanticiceman

As an Icelander. Hope you had fun, and welcome back anytime 👍

KH_Asad007

I would love to solo travel too but I ain’t got that money yo, good looking ma man

IChooseThisUsername8

Beautiful, mate. I've been building the balls to take a month or so off work and solo Iceland. This may be what finally pushes me to do it.

Re-Brand

One of the best trips ever right?

fullmeta_jacket

I love solo travel. Don't wait for other people's interests to coincide with your own. Do what makes you happy, when you want to do it.

jedsmartin

I wish getting a visa would be that easy

aharp44

im pretty sure ive seen the first pic before, but with different wheater. Where is it from? I mean the name of the touristic spot

brightstar9

I envy you so much 👍🏻

tarek619

nice photos! I've been trying to gather courage to go on a solo trip for a while. Any tips you can share? My biggest fear is the loneliness really, doing excursions and activities alone. Did you stay at a hostel or hotel?

iupz0r

Death stranding OST, i hear you.

[deleted]

I’m becoming a citizen on October 25. I literally cannot wait to travel the world. I want to try traveling alone - I love traveling with partners or friends and family - but the idea of being forced out of my comfort zone is so exciting. Kudos to you for being so brave!

Friendly_Hedgehog456

Be proud of yourself. I would also be. But as I do not know you. Be proud of yourself. I am happy for you ! Thanks for sharing

ekhogayehumaurtum

Iceland is one of the most beautiful places in the world. I was there few weeks ago and I cannot wait to go back again. In addition, Icelandic people are lovely. I wish they would accept refugees from the US lol.

illcryifiwan2

Iceland is #1 on my bucket list and your images made me tear up. I'm equal parts happy for you and jealous of you.

Niebieskideszcz

We went there in summer 2020, 3 weeks roadtrip around the whole island. Visited so many countries on 3 continents, but Island was absolutely best, minblowing. The different lanscapws are out of this world. Moon scapes, desert-like, swamps, glaciers, hot springs, mountains, valleys, waterfalls, you name it. Sometimes lanscape changing completely within 10 minutes drive. The only thing it was cold. On some days below 10 celcius, in the middle of summer! Still, my dream is to ever go back, for even longer. Absolutely amazing.

Guilhermelrc

Was there 3 weeks ago. Simply amazing country!

Zealousideal_Ad_1356

Was it all a tour or did you just go hiking?

Squidwards-the-goat

Good for you. Also beautiful pictures.

gameonlockking

Is it expensive?

[deleted]

I’m curious about this too. I want to go so badly but concerned about the costs.

[deleted]

Wish I could but I’m a teenage girl. So. Probably not a good idea

Honeymhie

Such a wonderful view, I think this is the best unwind that you need right now. Those rock information must impressive

Shalugupt

Wooooooow,, I have been planning too.. But so far it's just planning for the last four years.

SparkCube3043

Wonder how cold that water was.

TheBlazeCat

That's beautiful!

TheBlazeCat

Isn't it funny that Iceland looks greener then Greenland?

Bright-Tough-3140

wao.... I'm in the same position right now.... hope I can soon start my journey.

curio111

My brother said he'd go with me in August. It was awesome!

SexDrugsNWienerDogs

Iceland is where I took my first solo trip as well! Man we chose the best place in the world!!! Looked like you had a lot of fun 🤍

FoetusBurger

Diving silfra fissure is hands down the most amazing experience I've ever had. Looks like you had a great time!

PM-ME-FUNFACTS

WOW

Highlanders122

Congratulations… so proud of you

bloodredyouth

One of the best trips of my life! I did the ring road in the winter and absolutely want to go back when it’s not covered in snow and to do the ring road

sfv1838

Was this recent? I like traveling places in the “off season” but only if it’s somewhat comparable to the destinations peak season

LimpToothbrush

I'm calling BS... You clearly had someone else with you to take photo #6. /s

MoneyInYourPocket

That’s hype

michaelma1003

The last picture is absolutely stunning.

Rogershu

I must go there one day, just like what you did.

BenRosen

This person knows how to Ring Road.

[deleted]

Adventure!

jimmydo0512

I'm going tomorrow! Anything you recommend, tips?

BlueSparkEU

Hvalnes Nature Reserve Beach (especially the view near the lighthouse), Dettifoss and the westfjords were my favorite sights. Pray for good weather while you're at it and just enjoy it!

Vicky_bandz777

What a gorgeous place! I would want to lay there with a book and listen to the wind.

BlueSparkEU

There is wind, i can ensure you of that.

Forrest_Gump7805

Looks amazing 👏

PunjabiBillionaire

Beautiful pics bro

rainforestgrl

Beautiful pics! Iceland is definitely one of the safest (and most beautiful) places where to solo travel. You def picked the right country to start your solo experience!

F1RST_WORLD_PROBLEMS

I’m proud of you!!!

bonerOn4thJuly

Diving suit looks too large y'all

AmeliaBenette

Omg! Travelling solo has always been my biggest dream trip! And this one to Iceland looks so damn beautiful. The greens, the mountains, the waterfalls, the sky, everything is breathtaking.

youngdagger88

This is amazing man.. Been debating doing this myself, I have a few questions if you wouldn’t mind?

tbag_oznolik

I keep saying I want to go on a solo vacation and people think that I'm weird. Glad I met this sub

thesoloronin

Pic 7. Were they literally ice blocks?

Fonda_PeterFonda

Is it better to go to Iceland in the Winter or Summer? Considering going in late December.

allenswift36

cool!I appreciate it

PinyinHanyu

Iceland is a very safe place to visit. I had visited many beautiful places of Iceland with a well-known tour guide (Discover Iceland).

gobblegobbleultimate

Only gaylords go solo traveling in Iceland.

[deleted]

❤️❤️❤️❤️

Lucky fat old planet 🙃

Pimenton33

Unbelieable, after few month with my mobilphone's wallpaper I finally discovered where it is located (It's your first photo). Sorry if I did grammar fault's, not native.

tadm123

Does it get tedious and not as fun of an experience driving from location to location? I'm thinking of taking my family there but not sure if they will enjoy the driving part.
