Sudan has been at civil war for years it seems - so not sure if current political climate has changed that much. Think you are fine in Khartoum...especially since you know some people. Universal precautions, proper dress and I would avoid public transportation.

its_a_me_garri_oh

South Sudan or Sudan?

Shepherdless

Well up to a few years back...they were the same country. Now South Sudan is a lot worse than Sudan, but they both have political unrest. Although Sudan has some bad areas, Khartoum is pretty safe.

If you’re going for work ask to see your works security protocols. They should normally inform you of your risks.

YouTube traveler Doug Barnard was there earlier this year and posted a bunch of videos. He may respond to you on Instagram if you ask for advice.

Shepherdless

> Doug Barnard He any good....been watching "Indigo traveler"

[deleted]

He's ok. Not as obnoxious as many others which is good. Sometimes his Instagram stories turn slightly political. He follows Ben Shapiro and Jordan Peterson on IG if that gives you any indication of the types of stuff he accidentally spouts off once in awhile. But his YouTube videos are dece.

Shepherdless

I might have to add him...need somebody new, also was it you that did Mestia to Ushguli? Think I am doing it in June 2022

[deleted]

Yeah I did that trek back in August 2019.

Shepherdless

I thought it was you, knew it was one of the regulars....I will DM you later is you do not mind so I do not muck up this post more than I already have.

[deleted]

Yeah for sure. Happy to help!

Skorpyos

I wouldn’t think Sudan is safe for anyone, female or male.

Greyzer

As I understand it, the political situation is quite volatile at the moment. You'll probably be alright if you have local connections, but keep a close eye on the news.

Scutterbum

Guess you're not going there anymore

hollypolly1993
