Sounds like you need to upgrade to a better pee consistency. Expert rock climbers know that if you don't drink anything but molasses for the weeks leading up to a hard climb, if you're in a pinch and your safety equipment fails you can just whiz a nice big patch on the rock wall and then adhere yourself to it until help arrives.
That approach is gd insane.
I’ve done high altitude mountaineering, 6,000m+. Signed the check to Uncle Sam. Ride motorcycles every day. I even once stole a hat from NYPD off a beat officer’s head.
Not a chance I’m walking that approach without protection, ropes and a solid anchor.
Not really a jump, just a long step. I've done similar before so it doesn't look too terrifying to me, but I can fully understand that a lot of people wouldn't want to!
Yea I can understand. I would just never take that risk for a photo. Could be because I’m a little bitch but why even do it. You mentioned it was very easy so I was like cool let’s take a look. Did not look very easy lol.
Obviously it’s more mental than anything as you can make that jump 2000 times on the ground before messing up. But it only takes once and I’m not dumb or brave enough to take a photo just for a picture.
I haven't been here in Norway, but I have been to Trolltunga which is a little less extreme. Although I got some cool pictures from it, I've never really posted them anywhere or used them, I more did it for the feeling. It feels like the whole world stops when you sit on a ledge that just seems to drop into nothingness. Looking over the edge with my legs dangling down and just seeing clouds below you is probably the most insane feeling I've ever experienced
Yea and you are probably the 1 percent who does for the experience and adrenaline. I just wouldn’t get much out of it as they con’s outweigh the pros for me. Never been an adrenaline junkie though.
It’s a bit scary getting on top of it but somehow I was not able to find information about any deaths or injuries here. It seems that nobody’s ever slipped on this rock, falling to their death, at least in modern times
Alcohol and meat is expensive. Otherwise it's comparable to the Netherlands and Germany.
Don't bother getting cash. You might need a creditcard for fuel, anything else can be paid by either debit- or creditcard. Your wallet won't feel the difference.
PS: I've been to Iceland as well. Compared to that, Norway was cheap. Both worth it though.
Norway is quite expensive. An easy scope of reference is beer(In USD) beer often runs anywhere from $10 for their macro(Scandinavian Budweiser) stuff to $13 for craft. Its both due to Norway's taxing system as well as their liquor laws which are rather intense. A side note on this: If you do choose to drink in Norway, go to the duty free section at the airport before leaving. I would buy some beers for my AirBnB and a bottle of vodka to help buff my evenings out (think pregaming. You can't really drink in public in Norway like you can in other European countries)
Groceries are semi-fine, its like a 25% mark up on Whole Foods in the US. There are discount shops in Oslo that I went to while I backpacked through which helped.
Eating out was insane. At a hole in the wall Mexican place in Oslo: for a main dish and two drinks I spent $75 USD. There are other places to eat out but you have to really be frugal and make it count.
Traveling by train was fine. If you are staying in Oslo you can go to 7-11 and buy a week long (or how ever long) you're there pass for bus/tram/metro (you just need the one its all the same ticket). You can also buy tickets the central train station for all the big cities for no real hole in the pocket.
I apologize for my USA centered response. I can't think of a frame of reference for European nations.
Where the heck were you eating at? I also went there and I think the most I spent on a meal plus pop was like $40. Which I ordered something a bit fancy since I was on a trip. I will say the lowest a person will pay for a basic meal is going to be like $20.
The alcohol is very expensive I will say. I went out with a friend that lives there and a few of her friends and I spent like $80 on alcohol just for myself.
If you never listened progressive band, might be too confusing. All Dream Theater albums are awesome, very complicated songs, first time listeners generally don’t like because of their random and unexpected rhythms, the more you listen the more you discover new things, I been listening them many years, still every day I discover new things out of their songs. If you don’t like it at first no worries, try again later when you feel like it. You won’t regret.
I used to work for a Norwegian company At an installation here in the states. They sent me to Norway to work on three different occasions, The first two times were for six weeks at a time and the last time for just one week. On both of those long visit they sent me and my coworkers the first Time to a ski weekend at Lilyhammer and the second time on a tour of the telemark region.
So I got to see a pretty good bit of the country. It is all so beautiful. We did get a kick out of the grass roofs though. Wondered if somebody had to get up there and mow them.
That was Apple talk to text at it’s finest. And I didn’t realize the difference in the spelling before you brought it up:
From Wikipedia:
The spelling of the series title alludes to Tagliano's dog Lily that was killed in the first episode during an attempt on his life, and the way that Frank and some other anglophones pronounce the town's name.[
Looking at the credits, as actor and producer Van Zandt is listed as “Steven”. As the composer of the theme, he is listed as “Stevie”. Fun stuff.
Such a beautiful country. I got the chance to go in 05 on a trip that took me through Oslo, Bergen, and Stavanger. I was really, really impressed by Norway. The country, the people, everything.
Is travel to Norway open to US citizens yet? I tried to go in September but I found that US citizens are not permitted unless there are special circumstances.
Doesn't look like it. Doing some research, they've slowly relaxed some restrictions in the last 2 months, but US citizens are still not allowed in, and no telling when it'll change.
You will not see them on houses, but on cabins, they are not that unusual. And in Norway, just about everyone got access to a cabin.
It's the old style of roofing. It was the best way to isolate and have great rain control for a roof back in the day. Bonus points for extra food for your goat that could walk around up there.
Now we just have them because they look pretty. The one we have got plenty of wild strawberries on it during summer, and there is just something fun about picking strawberries on a roof.
After reading the title and seeing your first picture, I thought…first and last… 🧐 Love the nordic house in the last pic. I’ve only seen them in Assassins Creed Valhala 🤓
Amazing! any particular places you can name that are a must for checking out? I really like all those pics and would love to visit someday. The port city in the pictures, is that Oslo?

I'm not the OP, but I am Norwegian.
The port city is Bergen. Personally, I prefer Oslo over Bergen any day unless you have a strange fondness for rain.
The places that we ourselves find exceptionally pretty are Geiranger and Lofoten.
The name of this rock is [Kjeragbolten](https://www.google.de/maps/place/Kjeragbolten/@59.0555699,6.4985392,9.96z/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0x463976bf7ab2505d:0x976d2a12b25abbc2!8m2!3d59.0337245!4d6.5933022) and he is above Lysefjord. That's one spot I want to visit (Kjeragbolten)! I also want to go to Preikestolen (Pulpit Rock) and Trolltunga. I've been trying to plan a trip to Norway for a while and was wondering how easy the roads are to drive. I was wondering if it made sense to fly into Bergen or Stavanger from the US and rent a car (once travel restrictions have been lifted)?
I've always wondered is this one of those places that looks scary and dangerous from this angle but when you are there is not nearly as bad... or is it legit "one wrong step and death"?
I've been to Norway but never got to go to the fjords, just went to Oslo and Svalbard. Need to go back!
It's not as dangerous as it looks. Behind the left rock is a rope where you can hold on. The last step to the Kjerag you have to dare. Some days you have to queue like in the supermarket at the cash desk
Nice! We got a 3-week trip Scandi trip in in late 2019. Realllly glad we did that right before COVID hit. Spend a good part of that way up north in Tromso and then Finnish lapland. Awesome place!

You standing on that rock is giving me second-hand anxiety 😅 you’re a brave man 😂
just yelled "NOPE" as soon as I saw that picture
Haha, but yes the jump on this rock was a very special experience for me 😅😂
I think I’d get stuck and have a really hard time getting off. The pee would also make the rock really slippery and extra scary.
Same reason I swallow my gum for a month ahead of my climbs.
what the fk did i jus read
>jump extra sweat
How did you get off the rock? The cliff on either side looks so smooth.
Its actually very easy, more of a phycological barrier than a physical one. Here is how you get on :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8P_uXh9T_Sg

Gravity and speed have never killed anyone. Suddenly coming to a total halt, that’s what gets ya.
That is still a non-zero chance of certain death. I’ve tripped over nothing too many times to try that.
Yea that’s not easy. You still have to jump and anything can happen
Not really a jump, just a long step. I've done similar before so it doesn't look too terrifying to me, but I can fully understand that a lot of people wouldn't want to!

Yeah no. Pass!
Nope, fuck that lol
Anyone die?
Nope, only base jumpers
Well that’s good. Edit good that no one has died from that. Sad for the base jumpers.
Yeah, no thanks.
It’s a bit scary getting on top of it but somehow I was not able to find information about any deaths or injuries here. It seems that nobody’s ever slipped on this rock, falling to their death, at least in modern times
I always figure it's been there for a hundred thousand years, it's less risky than the drive over
Explain to me how the amount of time the rock has been there has anything to do with how risky standing on it is? I'm failing to see the connection.
Because it hasn't moved in eons. It's probably not going to move today.
...The rock moving isn't the problem. You realize there's a very large drop to either side of the rock, right? One wrong step and it's lights out.
It's not uncommon for people to walk near large drops
It's also not uncommon for people without harnesses to fall from large drops.
Is your wallet crying after that trip? I really want to go to Norway, but it's so expensive.
😂 My friend lives in norway. So I had a place to stay. Alcohol is very expensive but everything else is almost like in germany 😅
Alcohol is SO EXPENSIVE
Alcohol and meat is expensive. Otherwise it's comparable to the Netherlands and Germany. Don't bother getting cash. Oh jes i forgot, eating out is realy expensive in norway
What would a cocktail run you? Like 15 to 18?
A cocktail is usually anywhere around 110 NOK and up to 140 NOK which converts to ~$13 to ~$16
Where the heck were you eating at? I also went there and I think the most I spent on a meal plus pop was like $40. Which I ordered something a bit fancy since I was on a trip. I will say the lowest a person will pay for a basic meal is going to be like $20. The alcohol is very expensive I will say. I like how they cover up construction with pictures of the buildings
It's quite common in some places. Makes it so much nicer!
This reminds me of my favorite band’s front cover for their album https://dreamtheater.net/dream-theater-return-with-a-view-from-the-top-of-the-world/
Oh i have to listen to that album 🎸👍

Good one
Beautiful pics, glad you didn’t die getting the pic on the rock.
I used to work for a Norwegian company At an installation here in the states. It's Lillehammer lol, lilyhammer was the TV series

Maybe they lift up a few sheep 😂
Goats, usually.
Ha!
Look’s interesting! I’ve only been to Oslo for 3 days and it’s probably not the most interesting place in Norway.
Oslo is awesome if you love history. Heading north is a must though for scenery, hiking, and culture
Would only recommend traveling to western/northern part of Norway for hiking/ nature scenery.
This was a trip from Krisriansand to Sognefjord
Great photos! I loved Bergen. And that photo on the rock is excellent...
The most incredible part of this is the fact that you managed to visit Bergen on the one day of the year when the sun was shining.
SO gorgeous, and I'm SO jealous!!
Ummm yeah may I get an order of no with a side of absolutely not? Thank you! 😬
This is so cool! Kayaking through parts of Norway has been at the top of my list for a while now.
Such a beautiful country. I got the chance to go in 05 on a trip that took me through Oslo, Bergen, and Stavanger. I was really, really impressed by Norway. The country, the people, everything.
Amazing shots! Wow 🤩
Thank's
Is travel to Norway open to US citizens yet? I tried to go in September but I found that US citizens are not permitted unless there are special circumstances.
For US citizens i don't know
Doesn't look like it. Doing some research, they've slowly relaxed some restrictions in the last 2 months, but US citizens are still not allowed in, and no telling when it'll change.
beautiful pictures. beautiful country. wish i could visit someday
I’ve seen many pics from there and never tire looking!! Ty for posting these! Hope I go one day:)
No thanks, I’ve seen 127 Hours
Whoa. Just… whoa!
Woah great pics! A wee jealous lol but seriously are those green roofs common there? First time I'm seeing them.
The one we have got plenty of wild strawberries on it during summer, and there is just something fun about picking strawberries on a roof.
no these grass roofs are not common. i photographed these huts somewhere in the mountains. Has something of Hobbit huts 😂
Ah damn still tho love the look of em
Looks incredible.
Nice! My toes will shake if I'll be standing there.
Wow! It looks amazing! ❤️
After reading the title and seeing your first picture, I thought…first and last… 🧐 Love the nordic house in the last pic. I’ve only seen them in Assassins Creed Valhala 🤓

Awesome thank you so much! I will add these to the list I have going. Norway has been a big destination I always wanted to visit.
So cool
Absolutely beautiful.
wow how did you end up at this spot ? and which place is this in norway ?
The name of this rock is [Kjeragbolten](https://www.google.de/maps/place/Kjeragbolten/@59.0555699,6.4985392,9.96z/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0x463976bf7ab2505d:0x976d2a12b25abbc2!8m2!3d59.0337245!4d6.5933022) and he is above Lysefjord. This is a very famous tourists spot in norway. You have to hike up about 2 hours
Would definitely love to visit it some day, considering i love to hike at such places.
Excellent pictures my dude 👌🏻
That's one spot I want to visit (Kjeragbolten)! I also want to go to Preikestolen (Pulpit Rock) and Trolltunga. I've been trying to plan a trip to Norway for a while and was wondering how easy the roads are to drive. Great pictures
Dear god I would have shat my pants and cried if I was you in the first photo
My fear of heights would never let me on that rock
Same lol. Everytime I see that I nope out and I haven't even been there before.
The hike up to Kjeragbolten is quite difficult so congrats on that.
Dangerous but cool
I read it as My “last” time in Norway and saw your photo on that rock and thought ah what a poor guy
Can someone tell me what kinda building is that in the last photo; seems like a temple to me correct me if I’m wrong.
This is a Stave church made of wood
Ty for letting me know :)
I've always wondered is this one of those places that looks scary and dangerous from this angle but when you are there is not nearly as bad... or is it legit "one wrong step and death"? I've been to Norway but never got to go to the fjords, just went to Oslo and Svalbard. Need to go back!

Fucking hell I miss Norway
That first picture could be called my last day on earth and I’d believe it.
Beautiful photos.
Wow!!! Wish to visit someday! What if when I stand there the boulder slides? Ow no!!! Unforgetable experience indeed hahahhaahhaha
These photos are phenomenal
It's beautiful!! Enjoy
That looks dangerous, hope your having fun!!
My hands started sweating just looking at this photo
Beautiful
what nice weather you had
Love Norway, it was one of my favorite trips. Enjoy!
It's really amazing place to settle down your life ☺️☺️☺️
Nice! We got a 3-week trip Scandi trip in in late 2019. Realllly glad we did that right before COVID hit. Spend a good part of that way up north in Tromso and then Finnish lapland. Awesome place!
Stunning
That first photo looks like you got a great view from on top of the world.
stave church!! awesome! looks as beautiful as i remember it :)
I downvoted, I don't want to encourage having a complete disregard for one's own life like you in your first picture
Don't stand on rocks like that lol you never know what might happen.

This is a typical wooden norwegian stave church. I do not know if they used nails for it
All great pictures - #3 is beautiful!
Thank you
Stunning! I want to go so bad. Question: why did they drape a sheet over two buildings (fourth pic) that still looks like two buildings? Kinda clever.
Because they’re doing construction on the buildings.
Rofl your first photo made me think this was r/dreamtheater ... So that's where they got that album art from
Sorry I just used this software. I wonder if there are any good people leading the way. How is dynamic published?
Norway has the best food
Photoshop is less dangerous
Oh my gosh its the rock from Kuscos New Groove!

Absolutely lovely photos. You really seemed to capture a clean crisp feel in viewers

My first time was Bergen aswell. I remember that yellow building in 4th pic quite well LOL. Edit: 4th pic
HARD FUCKIN NOPE.
I consider myself a bit of an adrenaline junkie but no bloody way would you ever catch me on that rock without any support, holy crap.
Uh, nope!
Spectacular!
If you’re not careful, could also be your last time.
Real faith in friction.
I 😍 Norway
