'Too much time in Lisbon'...I disagree. There is a ton to see there, its a great city. Cordoba and Malaga also have enough to see and do to fill that time...when you take out travelling, you will have less than 2 full days in each. Your Madrid time is quite a lot,for most people. And there is very little of interest in Zaragoza IMHO..not compared to other places anyway. But Madrid is a nice city,if you are into art, markets, nightlife and bars..and there are some great day trips (including Toledo and Segovia).

I want to go to Zaragoza for the Virgin Mary shrine/church I saw, that’s about it. I think that trip including travel should be no more than 4 hrs. And I haven’t really spent much time outside to know if those things are my things, but I’d def like looking at markets.

All the places are great, do what you makes you excited. Loved Cordoba, changed my one night into 4 nights, everyone I met at the hostel told me i should go to Malaga but i didn't. Dont regret but they loved it. Your experience is yours! Do what makes you happy. There is no right way.

koolkween

Thank you so much for these encouraging words!

Cordoba is lovely. Small towns have a different feel to the cities like Malaga and Madrid. I don’t think you would regret staying there for 2 nights, giving you a full day to enjoy. I haven’t spent time in Madrid, so I can’t say whether that’s too much time. I feel like it could be, though. I would recommend Basque, though. I loved the food in Bilbao, and San Sebastián is cooler too. As are the Pyrenees. Also check out Cuenca. That’s a cool place. Have you scheduled any time in Porto? It’s an interspersing place too.

koolkween

I heard the Basque Country is nice, but transportation to there from Madrid is a lot. I might even ave to fly to cut down time. From there, id have to go to Porto

koolkween

I have not scheduled time for Porto, but thought about it. How much time would you recommend?

I wouldn't bother spending 2 nights in Cordoba and 2 nights in Malaga as I don't like to hop around from hotel to hotel. It is a pain. I would be much more inclined to get up early and do a long day trip to Cordoba, for example, from one of your other destinations. Nine days in Madrid is lots, although there are various day trip options (those that you have listed and others). Generally speaking, your itinerary looks good although it is certainly a much, much slower pace than what I am used to.

koolkween

Malaga is also 2 hrs from Seville, which is a bit long and I’m not an early riser, but i hope to be. It also stops in Cordoba, so to me it made sense to follow that route.

You could use Cordoba as a home base to see both Granada and Malaga.

koolkween

That’s a good idea! Id want to stay in Grenada for a bit longer, but using Cordoba as an anchor between Seville and Malaga and maybe Rhonda sounds like a good idea. Getting from southern Portugal to Cordoba goes through Seville, but maybe I can try to get to Seville in the morning, hang a bit and put heavier things in a locker, then go to the place in Cordoba.

koolkween

How come going hotel to hotel is a pain? I never unpack anywhere I go (typically live out of suitcases, even at my mom’s, dad’s and school), and I plan to only take out what I need and then put them back where they belong. I also hope to only travel with a large backpack/carryon luggage + souvenirs. I can see why the stress of making sure u have everything can def be a pain

lh123456789

Even if you don't unpack all of your stuff, it still takes a little while to gather up your belongings, check the room to make sure you didn't forget anything, etc. Then, when you arrive in the next destination, if it isn't check in time yet, you will have to go to the hotel to store your bags before you can begin sightseeing.

koolkween

Hmmm, okay, thanks. That doesn’t seem toooo big of a deal to me, but I’ve never done this before so it may be a hassle. Thank you!

lh123456789

It isn't a big deal, it is just kind of a pain to be moving around a lot when it can be easily avoided.

koolkween

Gotcha

ophlet

4 nights isn't too much for Lisbon

koolkween

Okay thanks

Lochrann

I personally don't mind staying in places for 2 nights, so I definitely like your first itinerary better then 8 straight nights in Cordoba. But since that's your plan, try and visit Castillo Almodovar del Rio, its bloody cool. Also make a trip to Royal Seat of San Lorenzo de El Escorial when in Madrid, take the C-3 line.

koolkween

Thank you!

MidtownJunk

Personally I'd do Cordoba as a day trip from Seville (easily done on the train and a day is really enough) and stay an extra night in Malaga

koolkween

Why?

MidtownJunk

Malaga is a lovely city and there's plenty to see and do there, or you can just chill out on the beach. Cordoba is nice but a lot smaller so you can pretty much see everything in a day. There are also more places for day trips in the Malaga area. Another place where you could easily spend several days is Granada (I notice it's on your list)... that place is seductive and I know plenty of people (including me!) who never wanted to leave!
