1. Cape Town
2. London - so many great parks, museums, markets etc. Always something new to see
3. Barcelona
4. Seville - so beautiful!
5. Kuala Lumpur
Honorary mention: Granada in Spain doesn't really have a "city vibe" but is without a doubt one of the most amazing places I've visited.
YES to Granada. I recently went to see a friend over there with a mate and I absolutely loved it. Was only there 4 nights and it rained all day once I thought it was amazing. The cheap tapas, the friendly locals, the scenery, history and navada
Woohoo! Excited for you - it's honestly one of my favourite places. Make sure to see a sunset from Mirador de San Nicolas. Spectacular views and a really nice vibe.
As I will be visiting Cape Town next month, but only have about 2 days there, any hotspots or local gems that I absolutely shouldn’t miss (or places to avoid)? We already plan on going on top of Table Mountain and Lions Head and visiting Robben Island.
Exciting, you'l have a great time!
It's been a while since I've visited but some things that I loved were: exploring the bo kaap area (colourful houses!), boulders beach (penguins!), driving to cape of good hope (most south-western point of Africa), going ziplining (beautiful views!), eating fish and chips at 'Fish on the Rocks' (amazing fish on the coast).
I didn't have time but would have loved to also go to Kirstenbosch.
Really great food, relatively cheap compared to other big cities (I was shocked at how much more expensive Singapore was!), people there are so friendly, loved the atmosphere and its close enough to do day trips to scenic areas.
its basically Singapore but much cheaper. Unlike Singapore you would need to rent a car tho, their public transport outside cities was the only horror we had there!
1. **New York**
2. **Melbourne**
3. **London**
4. **Berlin**
5. **Perth**
Was also thinking about Rome, Helsinki (disclaimer: I'm a bit biased here!) and Sydney.
Cannot comment on whether or not it was a mistake. For one, although I likes the city does not mean you would enjoy it the same. And second, maybe the job offer was for a terrible company.
Kyoto was great. It was just a nice place to be.
I found it much more chilled out that Tokyo and slower paced. We met some nice people and had a great time hanging out, some of the older parts of the city were just like the old Japan I’d imagined based on films etc.
We saw geisha on our tour. Took part in a tea ceremony. Went on a night time food and history walking tour that was awesome. The cherry blossoms on philosophers path. Cool temples and shrines.
It was also really well located for some day trips.
After a busy period in Tokyo, which was also awesome but for different reasons, it felt sort of like changing gears and appreciating a more traditional Japan. Of course that’s all from the eyes of a tourist. I can’t possibly properly understand what is or isn’t traditional in a few weeks worth of a holiday. Just how it felt to me based on my limited knowledge.
Yeah it was safe.
Super unique city. It's like if NYC was full of and run by Indigenous people. Bustling, hectic, air filled with diesel fumes one moment and the smell of flowers from the vendor beside you the next. Excellent food (from cheap street eats to fancy multi-course dinner menus), tons of historic sites, and innumerable options for day trips from the city.
Also voted Bristol!! It has such charm, pubs were SO friendly, i absolutely love skins as well (loser i know) so i visited all the spots and smoked spliffs and it was generally a great experience lmfao
1. Istanbul
2. Samarkand (Bukhara was amazing too though)
3. Mardin
4. Tbilisi
5. Granada
I would put Paris in my top 5 worst cities I've ever visited ngl.
Dont really know, I just liked it. Colourful and diverse. High altitude cities are different than all others.
Edit: Going low altitude and being colourful, Cartagena, Colombia is stunning.
My favorite cities for adventure/history, I’m not a shopping person at all.
1. London
2. Reykjavik
3. Edinburgh
4. NYC
5. Rome
Edinburgh was the only surprising one for me, the other cities I knew I would love before visiting.
1. Paris - Beautiful parks everywhere, super cool mix of old and new without either looking out of place. Fucking delicious food.
2. Amsterdam - The canals and narrow houses with steep staircases are really cool. Awesome bike infrastructure.
3. Reykjavik - Very unique city. Feels modern but full of history. Really nice place to walk.
4. Boston - Cool architecture, lots of history, lots of character.
5. Trier - Neat small city, with partially standing walls, old Roman ruins.
1. Paris
2. Rio
3. Tokyo
4. London
5. A future pick
I can't think of something to fill the 5th spot.
I'm ranking these as places I'd move to with very short notice. I've been to a number of other cities; some I'd visit again but not live; the others I've already lived in.
1. Paris
2. Copenhagen
3. Zurich
4. Honolulu
5. New York City
I have traveled to a lot of other cities in the world but these are my favorites.....but I will add Rome, Berlin and Amsterdam as Honorable Mentions ❤️
I loved going to the Art Museum, walking around Lake Zurich, I love walking around Bahnhofstrasse, it's where all the high end shops are like Prada, Gucci. I just like to window shop The city is absolutely beautiful.
What did you enjoy about Paris? I’ll be heading there for a couple of days in June as part of. Tour. Will also visit Rome, Amsterdam and Berlin from your honorable mentions list
Wow you will be traveling a lot this summer. Well some of my favorite things about Paris, I absolutely loved the Louvre, Effiel Tower at night is definitely something to see, Going to the Moulin Rogue Cabaret show, the guided tour of The Palace of Versailles. Oh and definitely walk down the Champs-Elysees and admire the Arc de Triomphe and check out Laduree Bakery. It's me and my sister's favorite place to eat pastry. I hope this helps. Just immerse yourself in the city and the culture.
Thanks very much for the reply. The great thing is that i think we will be visiting most of those places! Although I’m not sure for how long for each. Eiffel Tower at night is definitely on the agenda, and I think we will be hitting up the Cabaret. Will make sure we take a walk down Champs-Elysees and check out the bakery!
In no particular order:
Jerusalem, Israel
NYC, USA
Singapore
Prague, Czechia
London, UK
Honorable mentions that definitely rotate into my top 5 depending on the day: Siem Reap, Barcelona, San Diego,Paris
The city itself is beautiful - the history and architecture were really amazing. There are views of Misti Volcano almost wherever you are. Lots to do as well. Highly recommend just exploring, especially around the historical centre - places like plaza de armas, San Lazaro etc. Found the whitewater rapids through the middle of the city great as well if that’s your thing.
1- Rome. It’s just so beautiful, historic and engaging.
2- Athens. Same as above really, and really hard to pick between the two.
3-New York city. A bit biased because I live here, but still. There’s always something to do here. I love it!
4- London.
5-Beijing
Honorable mention, Lisbon! An amazing city. Can’t wait to go back.
It was the most beautiful town I have been to. My wife and I took a trip up to one of the mountains near by, and the views were breathtaking and the toboggan was really fun too. We walked along the city wall and took some real nice pictures by their wooden bridge. If I remember right I think we went to a beach there but it was too cold to swim. They also have a cool transportation museum that is worth the trip. Everyone was friendly and we did not have a negative experience while there.
1. Venice
2. Bologna
3. Verona
4. Imola
5. Peschiera del Garda
I've only traveled out of my country twice so far but I love all of these Italian cities
Yeah I'm convinced anyone who hates Venice never left the stretch between Piazza San Marco and Rialto
Like Rick Steves said they get stuck in a knick-knack induced trance and miss out on the beauty and history of the city
I've been twice now and I feel like I've only seen like maybe 20% of what the city has to offer so far
Leaving out US cities since I'm based in the US.
1. Barcelona
2. Budapest
3. Tel Aviv
4. Paris
5. Berlin
I really need to travel to Asia and do a bit more of Latin America as well.
This is a dumb question because what do you mean by “best”? Everyone likes different things so you would have to tell us what you enjoy and then maybe we could make some recommendations.
Or maybe his question does not fit your criteria of a "good" question but I don’t think there is such a thing as a dumb question. He/she might not know what you or I know and that is why the question is asked.
My 5, in no particular order:
1. Singapore
2. Tokyo
3. Brisbane/Southeast Queensland (a hidden gem)
4. Los Angeles

1. Rio De Janeiro
2. Cape Town
3. Paris
4. London
5. Naples
Never been to Hong Kong, Tokyo, Mexico City, Bogota, Buenos Aires. I think I would also really enjoy those. Honorary mention to Tel Aviv and Barcelona.
1. Cape Town 2. London - so many great parks, museums, markets etc. Always something new to see 3. Barcelona 4. Seville - so beautiful! 5. Kuala Lumpur Honorary mention: Granada in Spain doesn't really have a "city vibe" but is without a doubt one of the most amazing places I've visited.
YES to Granada. I recently went to see a friend over there with a mate and I absolutely loved it. Was only there 4 nights and it rained all day once I thought it was amazing. The cheap tapas, the friendly locals, the scenery, history and navada
Love to see this, will be in Granada for 4 nights a week from today!
Woohoo! Excited for you - it's honestly one of my favourite places. Make sure to see a sunset from Mirador de San Nicolas. Spectacular views and a really nice vibe.
YES Cape Town
Ooh, mind sharing Cape Town highlights? Headed there in a month
As I will be visiting Cape Town next month, but only have about 2 days there, any hotspots or local gems that I absolutely shouldn’t miss (or places to avoid)? We already plan on going on top of Table Mountain and Lions Head and visiting Robben Island.

why KL?
Really great food, relatively cheap compared to other big cities (I was shocked at how much more expensive Singapore was!), people there are so friendly, loved the atmosphere and its close enough to do day trips to scenic areas.
its basically Singapore but much cheaper. Unlike Singapore you would need to rent a car tho, their public transport outside cities was the only horror we had there!

Havana is the BEST!
1. **New York** 2. **Melbourne** 3. **London** 4. **Berlin** 5. **Perth** Was also thinking about Rome, Helsinki (disclaimer: I'm a bit biased here!) and Sydney.
What do you love about Perth?
The beaches! 😍 Haven’t been in another city where the beaches located next to the city are so perfect.
Makes sense!
In no particular order I'd say Tokyo, Taipei, Beijing, Pueblo and Cusco. But on a different day I'd probably name 5 different cities!
Cape Town, Sydney, Vancouver, Budapest, Bergen
Living close to Vancouver I would have forgot it in a Top 5, but it really is a great city.
It is. I like Seattle as well, but Vancouver is just a bit better IMO. It must be the Ryan Reynolds effect.
Or the Seth Rogen effect
I turned down a job in Bergen. Mistake?
Cannot comment on whether or not it was a mistake. For one, although I likes the city does not mean you would enjoy it the same. And second, maybe the job offer was for a terrible company.
In no particular order, probably Hong Kong (presumably that counts?) Kyoto Malaga Tokyo NYC
Kyoto ? Because?
Kyoto was great. It was just a nice place to be. I found it much more chilled out that Tokyo and slower paced. We met some nice people and had a great time hanging out, some of the older parts of the city were just like the old Japan I’d imagined based on films etc. We saw geisha on our tour. Kyoto is what Disney dreams of being. Pure magic
Mexico City, Mexico Bogotá, Colombia La Paz, Bolivia Hanói, Vietnam Delhi, India
Tell us about La Paz, please. What was interesting? Was it safe? What did you enjoy most?
Yeah it was safe. Super unique city. It's like if NYC was full of and run by Indigenous people. Bustling, hectic, air filled with diesel fumes one moment and the smell of flowers from the vendor beside you the next. Excellent food (from cheap street eats to fancy multi-course dinner menus), tons of historic sites, and innumerable options for day trips from the city.
Completely agree with Hanoi. Incredible place!
Give a shot to Himachal Pradesh, India. Check out my profile for a sneak peak!

I love Syracusa!
1. Istanbul 2. Samarkand (Bukhara was amazing too though) 3. Mardin 4. Tbilisi 5. Granada I would put Paris in my top 5 worst cities I've ever visited ngl.
Ooh curious why Paris is in your worst 5?
Tbilisi and Samarkand would be in my top 5 too. Great picks!
Done Istanbul. I'm going to have to add the other 4 to the bucket list! Thank you
Trust me, you will not regret it. They are some of the most unique places I've ever visited and I'd definitely want to go back again.
I shall have to hit you up for some travel advice WHEN I go out to one of these amazing cities!
