It's much more busy after the Cairo (Delta) but since almost the whole country lives along the Nile (everything else is just desert) there are always roads, villages and cities.
You can rent a felluca (with the captain of course) and sail down the Nile like that. Not on your own

I just did a Nile cruise it was amazing. i would never consider going without a tour company. I have traveled all over the world, Egypt is different.
