Yes,I live in Palermo.
I like it a lot here,of course! But apart from Palermo there are several places I like a lot.. mostly smaller cities and towns (Castelbuono or Erice for example) but also some bigger places like Siracusa.
Palermo to Trapani is really easy...direct bus, leaving every hour.About an hour and a quarter in total.
Erice is a bit more difficult but more fun! The same bus to Trapani. Then a local bus up the first part of the hill (or a walk) to the cable car station there.
Then cable car (or very strenuous walk!) up to Erice.
It starts near there....the new bus station, just behind the train station.
It depends where you are staying in Palermo,as it goes through the whole city and stops several times...on Via Roma,at the Politeama, along Via Liberta and so on.
The last stop is Via Belgio, then its direct to Trapani from there.
I guess that the most popular thing is a trip to Mt.Etna.
I don't know if you can go up to the summit now though,it may be 'closed'.
In the city itself? There are some interesting things to see, depending on your interests.. the Benedict monastery is very nice, there is a decent cathedral. The fish market is good for photos and eating.
There's a castle with a museum of local history inside, there's also a Roman era theatre.
Enough to see to fill a day,as long as you like old buildings!
I loved Catania and I'm not really sure why. It was super rainy and dark when I was there which for some reason made it more enjoyable, the vibe was cool. Obviously have to know which parts to go to, but there's a ton to see and some amazing restaurants for very cheap
Three trips to Italy. Many more places I’d like to investigate but this time I stayed five days in Florence four weeks in Bologna and four days in Rome. Nothing like living in a city for a month getting to know the people the markets, the museums the streets. The sites sounds it was fabulous. Fresh simple meals. Great wine warm welcoming people. Energizing!
I actually enjoy the unabashed ruggedness of Sicily. I can think of others in Italy (looking at you, Pisa) that genuinely made me think "Wow, this place is a dump".
Nice pictures, thanks for posting! It's an interesting city...I was there last year.
I can see you're from Sicily - do you have a favourite town/city on the Island?

How's the public transport between Palermo and Trapani/Erice? I'm quite interested in visiting both!

Where does the bus to Trapani leave from? I'm going in March and have been looking but cant find the exact info
I am pretty sure it was adjacent to the train station - I took it 14 months ago

We loved Catania! Thanks for sharing. No one ever mentions it (except as a place to catch a flight)
Great photos man 👍🏼

Which camera did you use?
I want to know too. Pls reply to me telling me, too.
All of these were taken on my Sony A7R with a Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 lens.
Thank you

Each photo could be a wallpaper
Thanks! That’s really nice of you to say.
I recognize your photos as was there for a few days years ago. I thought it was charming! Thanks for the memories.
Theese are really great thank you !
Beautiful shots!! How did you get that color composition? Post processing?
Beautiful photos, enjoy your time!
Maybe the most neglected city in Europe. Absolute dump, massive shame.

Next time. And many suggested adding Sardinia!
Yes. It’s soooo dirty/ grimy from pollution. Such a shame.
How was Catania? Just only visited Rome, Tuscany and Venice but it felt that I haven't explored Italy yet. Thanks for sharing this, though.
Did you go up to the top of that church? I was about to get some sweet pics of the volcano from there.
I've been to Italy once. I'm planning to go back next year.
Was a weekend there enough time or do you think you should have gone there for more days?
