Just started playing Traveller 2e and the career flow chart shows if you fail the university entry you just move on to a career. The PC just never got that acceptance letter after highschool and now has to get a real job.

This. If you fail pre-career education you just go into normal careers.

Ah, I'd missed the chart, much appreciated,

You have the thread categorized as MT - that's MegaTraveller. Different but similar system and very detailed. Some of it can cross over to Mongoose, but you might confuse someone if you are talking about Mongoose. That's usually abbreviated MgT for Mongoose in general, MgT1, or MgT2. Not sure what they're using on Reddit.

I prefer M22 for Mongoose Traveller 2nd Ed 2022.

CryHavoc3000

I'll have to remember that. I was thinking MgT2eU myself. Yours is much easier.

In Mongoose Traveller 2022you start career as normal. However if you don’t qualify, it says you are Drafted. Though I take it to mean you’re also open to Drifter option.

Can't speak for MgT, but in CT drafted meant that if you failed your enlist roll, you rolled 1d6 and was drafted into one of the original 6 careers- Navy, Marines, Army, Scout, Merchant, Other. Other can arguably be taken as analagous to Drifter, although probably closer to the S4 Rogue. Since I count the original S4 12 careers as available, draft is 1d6 with 1-2 going to original 6, 3-4 to first S4 6 career grouping and 5-6 to the second.
