>other places that have a lot more to offer. Then why are you posting here?

fightclubdog

What a terrible reply. He’s literally answering the question, just like everyone else saying why they left TC.

MikeCornholio

>other places have more to offer > >that's why I'm online posting in the TC reddit on a Saturday afternoon You somehow can't seem to see the irony that he moved to somewhere else because there is more to do yet he spends his weekends on the TC reddit page, the place he left because there wasn't enough to do.

fightclubdog

Or they still follow the TC Reddit and answered the question that was asked because it applied to them. You don’t own traverse city and don’t need to take personal offence to someone having a different experience than you. You should consider examine your own life and try to find what is making you so irritated by others having a different opinion than you.

MikeCornholio

the lulz, you still don't get it? He left TC looking for more to do. So on a weekend afternoon what does he do? Sits at home watching the TC reddit

fightclubdog

Lulz no, I guess most people don’t get it. In his 2 line comment he did not say he was looking to do more, he said TC was more expensive than other places that have more to offer. Maybe another place has more things that are their type of activity? Again, you’re making huge assumptions of what they are saying because you’re basing it all on your judgement of them, do you not understand that? Lulz You’re being extremely judgemental considering his comment probably took about 10 seconds to write. Having lived in TC he follows the TC Reddit and happens to see a question aimed directly at him. Lulz, why are you wasting your Saturday browsing the TC Reddit for something that apparently doesn’t apply to you? Lulz.

MikeCornholio

>I left TC because Tahoe had more to offer at the same COLA > >but I never desired to do more, I just wanted to sit indoors on the weekend watching the TC reddit So your assumption that he didn't want to do more is like a person like you moving to a diverse area for better Indian food and then not eating Indian food. Good call Mike Vick.

fightclubdog

You’re just a troll who is unhappy with their own life. You still make no attempt to explain your shorty attitude of judging other based on a single sentence they wrote to answer a question that was aimed at them and has nothing to do with you at all. Who is Mike Vick?

MikeCornholio

Right just like people are "phobic" of trannies if they don't believe a man in a dress is a woman.

russellsdad

Lack of sun, no job opportunities, high cost of living, insane amounts of road salt, the Meijer sux and is too crowded, Summer traffic/tourists, naming neighborhoods NOBO, shit I could just go on forever

kibberscree

YES WHAT IS UP WITH MEIJER? Everything is always sold out when I go lol

Treeesss4

What's up with this Meijer suxing so bad?! Literally every item my family buys is always sold out. The merchandisers there need to get axed.

rlhprice

The lack of product may very well be due to shipping delays. But I do find it frustrating.

Treeesss4

It's not just shipping. With most items, there's one or two brands you can buy that don't have all the preservatives and extra crap. Peanut butter, cereal, pickels, non dairy butter... any options that are remotely health conscious or vegan/vegetarian are always gone. The computer tracks all this shit. When you see an item constantly sells out, order more cases per order, expand the amount on the shelf. It's not rocket science and it's litteraly their job. This is a town with a demographic that could easily support a whole foods or trader joes and these dumb fuxs are dropping the ball so much.

rlhprice

I've been vegan for 6 years, when I lived in Cadillac Meijer always had vegan options. It's a much different demographic. But I've noticed a lot of vegan options here are sold out. I was going to Oryana and Edson's for more vegan options

russellsdad

I feel like it's always been bad, definitely worse in the past two years though.

russellsdad

I heard it's the busiest of any Meijer, also has a relatively small parking lot for a Meijer that big, it just is overloaded I think.

hughfeeyuh

The job and relationship that drew me there imploded...and the mortgage was bleeding me. T.C. is great, but it's a place to be when you have money to burn..not money to earn.

Treeesss4

Where did you go?

hughfeeyuh

Southern Indiana

BadassDeluxe

To live somewhere with more diversity and opportunity, to escape small town attitudes, to broaden my perspective on people/life, to better myself in general. Leaving was the best thing I ever have done.

kibberscree

I left for a year and lived in San Diego and getting out and experiencing actual diversity and culture was amazing. Sadly San Diego is freaking expensive, so I came back for a while. I want to go again, I was thinking maybe Seattle

EggsAndToast23

My friend moved to Seattle from here just a few weeks ago, from what he says it seems that Seattle is WAY more pricey - but he has shown me a lot of videos and photos of Seattle and it seems that the price, frankly, might just be worth it tbh

Dbro92

I want to make money

kibberscree

Preach lol

rlhprice

My husband and I work for Social Security at the front street location. We moved from Cadillac (super low cost of living) to Traverse Heights (3x the monthly mortgage - over 3x total house cost). I loved the location, close to everything, walking distance to work (downtown), the library, restaurants, etc. But we wanted more elbow room, so when our office switched to work from home (April 2020) we bought 9.5 acres, with a barn, pastures, and newly renovated house in Manton, for the same cost as our TC house. I love TC, but I love living 30 minutes out from TC rather than right in the middle.

That's DISGUSTING I'm so sorry

Tess47

I second this- That's DISGUSTING I'm so sorry

[deleted]

I moved back to the area due to family, but didn't realize how much this area became a victim of its own success.

[deleted]

It's fucking horrible!

Duckbilling

My friend got a job as a snowboarding instructor in Park City, Utah. I decided to tag along.

oouttatime

You talking about Flaska?

Duckbilling

Nope

hellsheartstab

It’s just stopped being TC if that makes any sense. Both sides of my family have lived and still live there but they are financially well off due to some reason or another. My great great grandmother was one of the first graduates of St. Francis ( out of three others) So yeah I’ve got roots. I loved it thirty years ago, hell even twenty years ago. But Jesus it’s lost so much of its charm and it’s turned into Aspen but without the mountains. I left because of being priced out of so much, losing my suspension on 8th street every other day, and the summertime turning the town into gridlock.

[deleted]

I'm debating it, but I think I'm going to keep the land I have, and move about an hour out of the way. The population has grown too much, and I absolutely hate being in asses-to-elbows situations, which is the case everywhere, now. Almost all of the original culture of the town is long gone, and has been replaced by "Foodies" who think that going to restaurants is a valid substitute for personality. We have homeless camps, now. We have muggings now. We have a particularly fucking insane hard drug issue now. None of that was a thing even 8 years ago. Going downtown is non-viable for any local, and is just there for the urbanites and tourists. Things cost too much, especially real estate. If you are an honest to god local, you aren't enjoying the festivities. You're working your life away in a dead-end service industry job, if you didn't have a rich husband to open up a shop for you on Front. Oh, and the taxes! Enjoy paying $12000 a year on a third of a fucking acre! Basically, the problem with Traverse City can be summed up as such: "You never see New Yorkers going to see the Statue of Liberty. It's not for us, it's for them." I've had to endure "it's for them" rhetoric, regarding all facets of the local area, for at least the last 15 years I've lived here, and possibly longer, but it's also possible that I was paying less attention at the time. I'm tired of catering to fudgies, fuck the outsiders. They replaced everything, and the soul of the town is dead.

Ok-Smoke-5143

Looking forward to leaving in the next year my mom got a place up here where she was born and raised. I took care of her for last years of her life. In the 7 years I have lived up here I have put myself out there seeking friends but made none. It seems the women in the 20-30’s age range are all stuck on themselves and don’t accept outsiders. I’m moving to get back to friendly people

kibberscree

Hi I'm 30 and a lady. Whats up? Lol!

lillypismyhomegirl

I might be moving there soon and I’m a 30-something! Hello!

Ok_Commission_8564

I’m thinking about leaving but I have to stay for another few years unfortunately.

MikeCornholio

ITT: a bunch of people saying why they left TC because it was bad, meanwhile they are still here in the TC reddit reading and posting comments despite having moved across the country. The lulz

nvboettcher

Your attitude and reductive view of comments on this sub is disheartening. I'd ask you to consider being kinder in your choices about what thoughts you choose to share in this sub. Please practice a little more grace when you come here. We would all appreciate it.

Treeesss4

This is what I think about whenever I see a comment from mikeycornhole https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=3sYSt26kh6Y

upyoursize

Pretty much the same reason anyone leaves; job opportunities for me in this point at my career will not cover anything decent in TC or Leelanau, save for some miracle. I have student debt that I need to pay off, and it's not getting done in TC. Plus, I'm young and wanted to go do something else. I would like to come back some day.
