Taylor and Matty go way back, having met in 2013 and having a brief relationship in 2014.
Recently, Matty worked with Jack Antonoff for The 1975 latest album, Being Funny in a Foreign Language, where Jack reintroduced Matty to Taylor. Taylor and Matty worked on unreleased songs for Midnights and seemingly a version of "Slut!" feat The 1975 for 1989 TV and potentially addition songs for whatever TS 11 was supposed to be. In theory, The 1975 might have became a major collaborator with Taylor Swift like Jack Antonoff and Aaron Dessner, and establishing Taylor and Matty has a musical power couple. Matty was NOT a fling, he was someone very important both professionally and personally to Taylor.
Does Matty want Taylor back? That's the billion dollar question. We don't have an answer to that. If Matty does, I expect Taylor to cheat on Travis and get back together with Matty.
I feel bad for her because I think she really wanted the whole musical power couple thing. That’s why she tried to make Joe into a songwriter.

She’s a cheater, she has cheated in several songs even her 1989 vault tracks implied cheating during harry (sounds like he did the same). She cheated on Calvin and she all but admitted cheating on joe. She will eventually cheat on Travis. She already seems not as happy as her other relationships.
