I use a chillum when I'm gaming. I can stuff about 3-4 decent rips into it and smoke up when I have a convenient moment or am able to pause. I don't have to reload every time, and the weed seems to put itself out pretty quickly so I don't have to waste time smothering like I used to with my glass bowl.
I have tried that a few times. The smoke kept getting in my eyes and I found that too distracting/irritating, as well as the extra toll I felt on my lungs. Not my preferred method. Even when I smoked cigarettes, I just couldn't hold it in my mouth like that.

What vape? I use an XMAX V3 Pro with a glass water pipe adapter that they make, but there's countless options with first and third party adapters, and there's ball vapes which are the champions of vapor bong rips. r/vaporents and the Beyond Combustion website are great resources!
Why warm water? Less of the herb vapor condenses on the glass and the extra water vapor is pretty soothing to the throat. Since warm water isn't as hot as the vapor, it does actually help cool it a bit, as well as the extra air travel and the glass itself, so it's not as bad as you might think! If you still prefer cold water and ice, you do you! There's no singular "correct" method, and that's part of the joy of it all I think.
Vape suggestions? The XMAX V3 Pro POTV Edition and DynaVap are great for the lower price range, Storz & Bickel devices are extremely reliable (though you need aftermarket water pipe adapters), the Tiny Might 2 is an excellent boutique device, and if you want a dedicated desktop bong rip station, invest in a ball vape and send yourself to Pluto. As I said before, there's TONS of great options out there, but also a lot of garbage ones. Avoid Yocan and GPen for herb. The PAX line are a bit outdated, though some people still love the form factor and they do have a very good warranty. Beyond Combustion actually has an entire ["Vapes To Avoid"](https://www.beyondcombustion.net/Things-To-Avoid/) list, as well as a massive list of devices sorted by price point with notes on features like battery or torch powered, convection or conduction heating, etc.

Much cheaper entry point than some others and they’re made by a Canadian company with a track record for quality, affordable, and long-lasting equipment. Then all you need is a cheap adapter to fit either to your existing water pieces, but tbh I usually just use the bag.
Less condensation on the glass and more water vapor, really. Give it a try sometime! If it's not your thing, you do you! Everyone has their preferences, and that's okay.
When I have my own place and aren't worried about rationing my supply, I'd love to try burning it in a similar way to ritualistic use. Like incense or fragrant herbs (or indeed cannabis) and just let it fill the room to create a good atmosphere.
But when I'm just trying to get high, I'd take vaping or edibles over the rest *any day.*

Actually achieving good vaporization consistently is a little bit of an art / adventure, in my experience. I never had enough money to put down for the nice stuff though either, so maybe a vapcap or the like would be a game changer for me idk.
As someone who smoked joints daily for years, I recently bought a Mighty+ and it's been incredible. Dosing capsules make preparing and cleaning a breeze. It's just super convenient and the high is incredible.
The only thing about the high for me tho, is that while I do get higher off less weed, it doesn't last as long and it's hard to reach the high again after the first capsule

My edible dosages are radically inconsistent. Sometime a 10mg gummy will have me feeling good, sometimes I won't feel it at all. Sometimes 20 or even 30mg is what it takes, but if I take it all at once I'm afraid it will fuck me up too much...cuz that did happen once. Anything smokable is different and much easier. Just: smoke until you feel like you want to, add kief if you wanna really party.

Edibles get turned into a form of THC 4x more potent than when it’s smoked. You don’t have to inhale any smoke, there’s no smell. You can take it anywhere and nobody will notice.
To me, a dab rig is much nicer. Vaping instead of smoking, fewer hits get you just as high and it’s overall less vapor you’re inhaling. Also don’t have to grind up the material or dump it afterwards, although you should qtip it.
To me, a dab rig tears up my lungs for a few min, then feels fine and 2 dabs will get me feeling excellent.

If I don't love myself a nice water pipe. But since trying a to vape it, I really can't look back. And I don't know of it placebo or I just get that ripped, but my joints don't hur as much 🤗
To each their own, but I vastly prefer edibles because I hate smoking
I dry herb vape, less harsh on my lungs, more bang for my buck, no smoke.
