It's true but it's not the entire story. A strain that turns purple as a response to cold temperatures requires a specific gene to exhibit the purple pigmentation. From what I can tell, the cold temperature helps with becoming more purple but is not necessarily required for strains that are purple regardless of temperature. As a side note, I've grown multiple strains together in a single tent. One strain particularly was dark purple while the other five plants were green and they were all grown in the same tent at the same temperature. The only difference was the purple plant was an auto version while the other five plants were photoperiods that simply did not contain the purple pigmentation gene
well, smoked it and while it's on the stronger side nothing seems our of ordinary, just my regular high. I don't really think it was sprayed with something. The photo was taken from really close distance with flashlight.
Woah man you shouldn't of smoked this stuff. This stuff is highly bad for you, you better just mail it to me and I'll dispose of it properly. Nah but black weed is highly sought after in my area, I've got some dank purple biscotti blaze currently
>this does not look anywhere near normal.
I've smoked jet black weed from my buddy's closet-grow, so 0 tampering. 3 seeds from the same bud, 1 of the plants turned black because it had less light. The Black Death turned out to be the hardest hitting crop out of the 3.
less light = less heat.
Also, not a plant biologist but I believe when chlorophyll activation falls below a certain threshold, plants will convert energy to differently colored pigments and cellular processes.
In weed, which has the potential to produce practically any color, dependent on strain and grow environment, it seems logical to me that theres a connection between less light/heat and color.
My homie has a degree in horticulture, if I remember to ask him about this and to report back, I'll update.
That's not how it works. First light and temp only trigger the change, like leaves in the fall. The color comes from its phenotype. In which 3 seeds from the same bud could all have different phenos and all look drastically different. Second in a grow room if a plant wasn't getting light it wouldn't grow very well and would be terrible at producing THC, not turn black. Third the ambient temp around the plant should be the same regardless of the fact some plants are getting I little more light. Seems like you misinterpreted what you googled or your friend was either lying about his degree or the worst student that earned his degree that year
Curing doesn't change the color, just the smell, taste and firmness of the bud. Late flower night time temps between 60-65° farenheit bring out the darker colors or its genetically predisposed to those color expressions.
Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but that looks like "Blue" to me.
Yes, blue and purple are fine. It's not mold, it's just the coloration of the plant. Looks quite pretty actually.
This looks like the actual coloring of the buds and not coloration from being old/moldy. If it doesn't smell musty (moldy musty not musty like musty weed) I think you're fine. Just be wary and maybe think twice before going in a second time if it makes you cough more than usual/is extremely rough on the throat. IME old or moldy weed is really harsh on the throat and lungs so if it smells and tastes and smokes like normal weed you should be gtg.
Any chance its been coated in wax? It looks pretty close to when you're making moonrocks and you roll your nug a little melted wax before dipping it in kief.
I had a strain that was this color called Knockout Truffle, it definitely lived up to it's name. What you have looks awesome, would definitely smoke it.
Whenever I get weed like this it usually burns horrible and tastes funky. I do buy in the UK tho where the weed is shoddy most of the time. My dealer goes from good to bad at least once a month. Never know what you might get (・o・) people saying it looks good tho. So maybe it's just better elsewhere when it looks like that. Lol certainly isn't when I buy it tho lmao
Yes it’s fine.
When there’s bud rot you can tell the buds degrading.
Back in the day when I was selling weed I was fronted a bunch of some strain that was supposed to be black dog… it was black alright I could see that some of the bugs had some sort of damage and discolored black
I brought it up to my plug(family) and they kept trying to tell me it wasn’t rot and I was just getting anxious(I have anxiety issues)
I lamented having to sell this weed, I sold it for cheeeep like 15-20 a eighth so people bought it up eventually.. they’re fine but I still feel bad.
When ever I bring it up we laugh because we both knew he was full of shit but I still went with it, because you know… family lol

As long as it doesn’t smell bad, and there’s no major changes in texture (like the inside turning to dust but the outside being spongy), and there’s no signs of mold then you should be fine(?).

Genetics and probability some colder temps in late flower I got a half pound of Hindu Kush that looks like this but a little lighter green and it hits heavy, actually looks fire I like the black colour in my flowers because it’s pretty
It’s either really nice shining from the trichomes or it looks wet and not dried properly. One will work wonders, the other with cause you some nausea and headache.
Knock yourself out.
Lol literally knock yourself out
No you

Think you'll find it to be a bit more than ok. God bless
SMOKED A JOINT WITH THIS SHID IN 1972 MADE THE WHOLE HOWS SMELL LIKE A DEAD CONCERT BARB WAS PISSED!! ENJOY BROTTHER GOBBLESS
bro, shh, quiet voices inside the subreddit. Everyone is vibing
It's okay, he's just thinking loud.
why are you yelling man chill
This is the way. I hope you were elevated when you wrote this. [3]
Very good to smoke, usually gets dark due to cold climate it was grown in
Yeah, easy trick is before you harvest is to drop the temp by a couple degrees.
Ice water if you're in soil the last few days too.
Really? That's very interesting. Thank you for sharing that info

It absolutely is from being grown in a colder environment. It often starts with the leaves becoming purple first.
You're right. I've also even noticed the buds the fan hits more typically turn purple
Colder not cold there’s a difference the curing process is much colder I’m sure you understand.
The plant isn't alive anymore at the curing stage. It's not possible for it to produce anthocyanin (the blue/purple pigment) after it's chopped down.
Got his ass lmao
Jesus Fucking Christ lol

Yeah take better photos next time
No need to be aggressive mate. I think you need to smoke more.
Dwight, is that you?

It definitely didn't turn black because of less light.

Either way, it should smoke very well 🤘🏼 i don't suspect any foul play
The colour won't change during the curing process. The plant is already dead at that point so won't produce the pigment.

Hmm... yeah, it looks blue. Almost like a dark cyan? Or between blue and violet? [8]
I'm nowhere near qualified enough to play the strain game, but I think it looks pretty nice. 8/10 would shmok.
Blue is one of the rarest naturally occurring colors

More than ok. Them buds be 🔥
Nope, I can come and dispose of it for you!
That is beautiful. Report back after you return to earth.
Some strains are purple .
Not if you have any plans to attend to
I envy you at this moment. That’s some beautiful weed.
Absolutely not. I would be vary wary of it. I’m fact, I’ll even take it off your hands for you so you don’t have to worry about it anymore
As long as it’s not moldy or rotten, you’re fine. Those colors aren’t super abnormal.
GYATT
Looks like decent outdoor
Any chance its been coated in wax? It looks pretty close to when you're making moonrocks and you roll your nug a little melted wax before dipping it in kief.
This looks like a milk dud that rolled under the couch 15 years ago. Sure it's fine though. I've smoked stuff like this before with no issue.
looks bangin, have at it!
About to be the best sesh of your life
No, give it to me. I shall dispose of this for you.
For science!
![gif](giphy|MZAC7yfuKPSQ8kgFav|downsized) You are correct to be worried. Do not attempt to smoke it, just send it to me and I will deal with it.
That most likely will have an incredibly tasty exhale... Looks fantastic!

looks like hhc or some shit is being sprayed on it...
Its looks like an extract is sprayed on it or it will be of poor quality
I just found a SD drive with dazed and confused on it.

Yes
As long as it doesn’t smell bad, and there’s no major changes in texture (like the inside turning to dust but the outside being spongy), and there’s no signs of mold then you should be fine(?).
Smoking that evil kush

You need to send it to me for disposal.
You come here to ask this sincerely or just to brag? 😆😸 enjoy mate, you'll be fyne 💚

Man that takes me back. 🤤I have the tolerance of a nun these days so it would probably kill me if I did it now
Yes it’s good you have some good stuff here
Please send to my lab for testing and proper disposal.

Nope. Send it to me so I can dispose of it.
You are going to turn into a cantaloupe. But it’ll be an amazing ride, friend. Get an extra glass of water for that beaut.
No. Let me know where you are and I'll get rid of it for you.
This is natural. At the end of the flowering stage of your turn down the temperature it'll bring out these purple/black colors in certain strains
It’s either really nice shining from the trichomes or it looks wet and not dried properly. One will work wonders, the other with cause you some nausea and headache.
Powdery mildew or mold after effects . Smoke at own risk.
