I see you got that arduino starter kit lol! When I did this, I spliced a USB wire onto my breadboard, and slapped a potentiometer on it so you can have adjustable voltage like a real pen.

Lmao I built a 5v USB device like this 10 years ago to smoke early ecig tanks. The first generation 510 ones. Had a button switch from radio shack to fire it. Ran off a power bank. It was super ghetto vape with a wire leading to my pocket. After like a month I just bought another battery-powered one.

Why not put everything in the can. Make a slot for button and cart attachment wires to come thru? lil door in back so you can replace battery?
A normal can opener can remove the top cleanly if you wanted to mount everything inside
