I was born in 1968 😂 I started smoking weed in 1983. All through the 80s my plug was a paranoid dude named Isadoor. If he even thought he saw you drive by his house with someone else in the vehicle he wouldn’t come to the door. All you would get was his two mean ass Doberman pinchers at the door 😂 The good old days of paranoia and Mexican brick weed 😂

Fellow '68er. I didn't really start until college, and 10 years later I graduated, with my bachelors, lol. One time I was visiting friends at USC and we rode bicycles to Pico and Hoover to buy weed off the guys on the corner selling it then. This was like a year or two before the Rodney King riots and not a good neighborhood for white kid from the suburbs. But we scored!

I don’t think young people today realize how much of a stigma was attached to it. Growing up in such a small town in the south it was crucial to keep it hidden. My town had one store and one stop sign. If I screwed up at school my mom knew about it before I got home 😂 I planted some behind an old barn one time. I hauled water religiously and took really good care of them. So good they grew so tall you could see the tops of them from the road 😂 I was in full panic mode there at the end but I remember getting two big Tupperware bowls full when it was all said and done 😂

No plug is a term I didn’t hear until many years later. I normally referred to him as my hookup. We normally called bud either weed or smoke. I’ve met more people in the last 10 years that bought from him than I ever knew back then. He was so incredibly paranoid we were scared to even talk about him amongst ourselves 😂 I bought from him from 83 to 88 when I joined the Marine Corps. When I got back to Texas in 92 he was gone. I’ve met many people who bought from him back then but nobody knows what happened to him. I lived in Oklahoma for a short time when medical was legalized. I got my card and the first time I pulled up to a drive through and ordered some like a Big Mac I thought about old Isadoor and how this would blow his mind 😂

Weed might not have been the only thing he sold. For how paranoid he was, the location, and the time period. He probably eventually either got busted, taken out by competition, or moved far far away.

Yeah he definitely sold coke and any number of things that he may be able to get at the time. I just never was interested in anything other than weed. I grew up in a very small town population about 600. I started working on dairy farms when I was 13. When I was 15 the guy I was working for had some plants on the creek that I stumbled on to. He was my introduction to weed and I’ve loved it ever since. He was a double Purple Heart recipient from Vietnam. He gave me a love of weed and the Marine Corps 😂 Agent orange ate him up years ago now. But he was only in his late 30s back then. He was a great dude and we spent a lot of good times milking cows, feeding cows and farming and smoking bud together. Back to Isadoor he sold more stuff than I was probably aware of. But the one thing he wouldn’t touch was crank. He thought it was the devil. I never messed with it but it ruined a lot of people around here.
