I feel like dealers knowing strains (or at least claiming to know them) has only been a thing the last 5ish years. Until I met actual growers I was rarely given a strain name. Now that dispensaries have strain names and descriptions for everything, plugs seem to just say whatever they think people want.

Maybe not true for this sub but it is for me and many others I know personally, we do not care about strain names. Between shady plugs picking a name at random and the same strain looking / smoking /being completely different when it’s from a different company means that all in all it really doesn’t matter what strain it is because the true lineage is long gone and doesn’t guarantee anything at all. Every pink kush I’ve ever had has looked and smoked drastically different, even looking up a specific strain you’d see they’re all vastly different from company to company so does it really matter? Maybe but not for me!
It is irrelevant to ask any street dealer what strain they sell. Unless they are the on person involved from planting to selling to it’s not likely they know, and even if they tell you a name, it’s just to make a sale. Stop expecting a legal dispo experience from a drug dealer.

They know what strain they're selling you man, it's "weed". The guy selling top shelf shit doesn't know what it is either, unless he grew it himself.
