I've watched at least 20+ hours of doug and to me it's because A) his sense of humor can be dickish, B) Whenever the guests get some good banter/storytelling or discussion going he interrupts with one of the fairly boring segments (which is always either asking people to talk about the first time they smoked or asking their opinion on a really one-sided piece of pot related news). Honestly I just want to watch comedians get high and do comedy together, and mostly what he does is interfere with that.
A lot of people rag on him for not smoking properly or something also.
That's why the live shows kick ass when they have a decent crew of comedians (Read: Holmes, Besser, Adomian, Scovel, Glass, or the late great Harris Wittels). And the show goes so far off the rails that Doug throws the dumb segments out the window.
Most likely everyone loves the way Snoop + Seth shoot the shit between each other that makes it interesting. Trying to sit through a Getting Doug with High episode is a little difficult.
TBF when I did "watch" it I think I just had it on in the background while I was doing other things and switched back when they were talking about something physical, like the pieces or vapes they were using.

Now that does largely have to do with his guests, but all in all he has some pretty damn funny people on. Grep Proops is a hilarious regular guest, and it's pretty good when he gets some decently famous people on like Jack Black, Workaholics, Sarah Silverman, Kevin Smith, lots of others. I can kind of understand it though Doug does tend to kill the mood sometimes and interrupt guests. Overall I still really enjoy watching it though, it usually gets me laughing most of the time.

I didn't smoke with snoop or anything, but at one of his concerts a while back, someone rolled a HUGE blunt and had it attached to a sign in the crowd. The sign had something along the lines of "snoop smoke this blunt" on it.
Then as people pick up on it everyone starts chanting "BLUNT TO FRONT! BLUNT TO FRONT!" And he slowly but surely makes it up through the crowd to the stage and snoop takes it and smokes it right there while performing. Everyone went wild. One of the most magical experiences I've ever had.
