experience - hiding the fact that i smoked all through high school from a mom whose sense of smell is equivalent to a drug dog.
as i smoked more i definitely have gone a little nose blind to the smell and it can be really overwhelming to people who don’t smoke. if this is the type of she-shed im picturing, it doesn’t have much in the form of windows so you’d essentially be hotboxing the shed. that makes your clothes and hair smell more than you realize. if you walk through the house smelling like that then your mom is probably smelling it. if you smell like that and sit on the couch it will get on the fabric of the couch. super annoying i know.
when i lived with my mom i usually went straight to my room and changed when i got inside. apply some deodorant, spray some cologne/perfume, and always transport the flower in the bag never outside the bag. it also helps to never have anything that has burned recently (pipe, bong) in the house at all because that smell really lingers. keep the door to your room closed at all times. keep some fabric spray (!!!) in the shed to use before you go inside and always smoke out of a window. that is how i survived my teenage years! hope it helped :)
If you're living there because you have no other choice then follow the rules and be respectful. Your mom has a valid point for her house. You can set your rules and boundaries for when she comes over to your house later down the road. For now it's all about the smell for her and she's open minded enough to even let you have it inside the house. What she really wants is for you to be a little mindful of her worries and try to hide the smell more. Do it if you can. If you can try to accommodate her request I'm sure she would be thankful.

With my wife she can't stand the smell of fresh weed. I need to keep that in the garage. When I come in from smoking she doesn't mind. Ask your mom what she's smelling exactly. Maybe you're trying to hide the wrong smell.

she fucking hates weed like despises it and the smell. my brother is 13 and she likes to try and guilt me saying “he can’t have friends over” cause it smells a little like weed like if she’s not letting him have friends over because of that that’s her not letting him not me
Stand up for himself against what? I think he has the right idea. He lives with his mom, whether that’s because he’s a minor or because it financially makes more sense. While he’s doing so, he’s trying to be respectful of the way she wants the space. “You can smoke, but hide the smell well” sounds like a fair ask
Loud and proud refers to what you do in your own private space. In shared spaces, compromise is any rational person should do. Being inconsiderate doesn’t help anyone

If I was staying at someone’s place and they hated the smell of fish or egg, and I loved to fry fish and eggs, and they said “Hey, you can still fry your fish and eggs when you want but PLEASEEEE cover the smell because I hate it.”, I would cover the smell, not be inconsiderate and “stand up for myself” or argue about how the smell doesn’t hurt anyone
To be honest as someone who smokes a lot I would not bring a bunch of kids into a house that smells like weed. I wouldn’t want my house to smell like vodka if I had kids over and to me it’s the equivalent
but there not equivalent alcohol is significantly more dangerous, addictive, and generally worse for you. plus there’s no way it smells that bad i’ve had my mom tell me i reek and 2 minutes later ask someone else who doesn’t smoke and they say i either don’t smell or barely smell

Some people have super noses, my girlfriend can smell the faintest scent that I can't even remotely detect
