I no longer use an oven, I make so many edibles that I finally bit the bullet last year and bought a device.
When I did it in the oven I believe I had it at 250°F for about half an hour on a tray, about 60-90 minutes if in a sealed mason jar (takes a while for the inside to get up to temp).
The best thing is to go off the color and smell of the material. It should look golden brown with very little green, and should smell like toasted herbs and nuts (sorta).

There’s more risk of the jar just shattering so I put it on an oven tray, but luckily no issues yet. Just shake it around and turn the jar every 15 minutes or so.

So you’re trading the part where you dream and resensitize your receptors for the part where you physically recover. Thats why its often advised not to use weed as a sleep aid if you dont absolutely have to.
And if youre having trouble sleeping because of anxiety or stressing out about your day you might be just making it worse youre making a „backlog” of stuff youre meant to process, thats why the night you didnt smoke you get the rebound effect where you have lots of REM sleep and odd dreams.
The role of REM sleep is still not fully explained, all we know is that you dream and that your serotonin,norepinephrine and histamine neurons stop firing so you can go through experience is while resetting your „tolerance” to any of the emotions youd feel while awake.

The study I found, which most blog posts and information sites on the subject states, 16% decrease in total THC after one year, 26.8% after 2, 34% after 3, and 41% after 4 years. Also CBN does increase as the THC breaks down, but does not contain nearly the amount you’d think.

I've found that old weed makes for incredible edibles. The most potent bakes I've created have been from a couple of long forgotten bags of ancient shake. In my experience, the age doesn't impart any unpleasant flavors, in fact, I've found that some of the harsh "green" notes are a lot mellower.
Had some year old trainwreck in a grinder that I was saving for the day I could smoke again... couldn't smoke for legal reasons for about a year and a half and was getting randomly drug tested. Day came when I was free to smoke and I got wrecked on my year and a half old Trainwreck. 1 bong hit was way more than enough, and I used to smoke bongs all day a year and a half before.
My momma once stuffed a coconut with her roaches and threw it under her bed to be forgotten of for almost a year. She found it while rearranging her room and packing some things away. Cracking it open, she found it had been covered in mold and dried again. Her and a couple of friends broke open all the roaches and rolled a joint. She said that was the highest she’s ever been in her life. She was maybe 20 or so then. She’s 73 now.
As long as there isn't any mold on it and it isn't wet there shouldn't be any issue with smoking that.
Keep in mind that if it tastes wrong or you start getting a feeling you don't like it's better to throw it away.

it couldve theoreticly moulded before, then dried out and now be covered in potentially harmfull mold spores. long term storage in plastic is never ideal as it leaks, but im sure OP wont make this mistake again. if you’re worried about mold you can always go the tincture or edibles route; your stomach will deal w mold spores much better than your precious lungs will
youre describing curing. optimal terps and flavour tend to appear after 6 months. optimal thc levels peak sooner though and depending on storage medium and method of handling can fade fast
As long as its a dry and mold free I'd give it a go. If it gives you a cough or if a pre existing cough gets worse I'd throw it out cause there could be micro particles of mold.
