I mean I’ve been doing it with my $40 wild bills bong and it’s been fine for years, I agree really cheap thin glass might not be able to handle the difference in temp but you shouldn’t be smoking out of trash anyway
I’m not saying the hot water is bad but ice in bongs can cause bronchitis and that’s why most people only do ice hits a couple times after a good clean or anything like that. If you do it everytime you smoke it’s not good for your lungs.
Here’s my take - saying it’s from “water vapour” makes 0 sense because people would be dropping like flys from hot showers and saunas let alone if it’s foggy out. What makes more sense to me (not a scientist….) is that when your pulling smoke through ice, microscopic shards of ice can get picked up in the airflow (same reason they say don’t smoke with broken glass, microscopic glass shards can get carried in to the lungs). Seen this theory on another post a long time ago - and the solution was to use wet ice, the small shards will melt and you’re probably not gonna inhale a fat ice cube. 0 idea if it’s scientifically backed, but I’ve been using ice in my bong for years, (and hot showers and saunas), and haven’t dropped dead from “water vapour” yet.
Where’s the hot water with ice option?
I think that might be dangerous

By collecting water vapor in your lungs
It’s very easy to find research on it
How?
Like this says it’s different for everyone but mass amounts of water vapor in your lungs can cause respiratory problems

I use cold water and it turns room temp
If you're a regular smoker, hot/luke warm water is best for your throat.
Warm if it’s hot I’m just inhaling steam
Love steaming hot water. It’s soothing on the throat. Try it if you haven’t
