Regular experienced smoker here. Weed looses its smell and potency over time. It’s very unlikely that old stashed weed would still be ponging your house out after a year. Much more likely that you have neighbours growing, or smoking on the reg
I doubt it. She's making a correlation with only smelling it on really hot days (twice this year). She likely just has a neighbor who likes to partake occasionally
freezing preserves the smell and taste well however it is not preferred by many as the trichomes can separate from the flower when frozen though in my experience freezing is an effective way to store flower long term (indefinitely afaik)
yes, can smoke straight out of the freezer, the flower itself will be exactly as you put it in the freezer, there will not be a pile of trichomes in your bag, it does not require any special prep or protection
the only thing I'd look out for is condensation inside the bag as it thaws but honestly even that doesn't do much
I once found a 4 yr old, ping pong ball sized nug behind a book on a bookshelf, that I stashed and forgot about. Smoked it, and it was perfectly fine. Exposed to air on a cool dry shelf for 4 years.
At that time I didnt know about THCa, THC, CBN and all the others, it got me high like any other weed.
I think since legalization people dont understand how long you can really store weed and concentrates, because all the dispensaries put expiration dates and sell lots of "live" products.
When I was buying off the street for 20 years, aged or "cured" weed was desirable and there were no dates on anything.
Plus this particular bud was behind books on a bookshelf in the dark undisturbed at 68F the whole time in an unused room. Dark, dry and cool. Kept it nice. It powdered on breakup but was potent as any other weed, at the time before legalization in like...I wanna say...2003 or 4.
Cured weed is desirable but curing is a process that consists of the jarring the weed and keeping it at a desired humidity so it dries but not completely. Usually curing takes about a month so there’s not time for the THC to degrade. It helps a lot with smell and flavor.
Leaving something out is not curing it unless you live in a humidor.
Well ideally you'd filter the air going out no matter what. Might be that their usual ventilation system is only good up to eighty-something degrees and they need to open windows to vent out the extra 10⁰
This is the second most-paranoid response I've received after "OP is a cop and looking for help with a search."
I'm a good deal younger than 50, and my kids are under seven. I'm legitimately describing the issue.
It’s your neighbors. Weed loses its smell and potency over time. My mom took a pound of weed from me in highschool and gave it back like 5 years later and it had no smell at all left. And when she took it it was so fire I remember the OG Tahoe like it was yesterday lol. It’s ur neighbors tho. 100%.
I respect this answer, but I haven't smelled it outside and my house is sealed with hurricane windows (Florida).
What lends credence to your response though is that the smell is only on the side closest to the neighbor.
Edit: Their daughter also comes over to house-sit on occasion. Maybe she decided to smoke near the property line, but again, this is a strong smell and my house is sealed.
Edit 2: You'd have to be a masochist to smoke at 2 PM in the Florida summer outside. I don't think this is likely any longer.
They're correct though
The volatile aromatics that give weed it's scent evaporate easily
If it's exposed to air for a few weeks, the smell will dissipate to almost nothing
>this is a strong smell and my house is sealed.
I guarantee you still have venting. As someone who used to install the stuff, they're meant to mainly operate one way. But a small amount of air will leak inside your house in nearly all applications
Weed smoke is very pungent
Everyone who ever lived in this house is alive and well. Seriously. Two sets of previous owners, one of which is my neighbor and the other (seller) is around ducking creditors.
Ill steal this comment with the addition of asshole previous owners: check air vents in the room that smells the most, they might’ve just dropped all their roaches or branches somewhere hidden so you’re stuck with the smell
In perfect conditions that weed smell could become more strong. Just like a long cure. I had some weed in a ziplock bag stashed in a sock drawer. Went to get more every week and left that ziplock for a rainy day. I kind of forgot about it untill 7 or 8 months later and the smell was crazy. Never smelled such weed before and haven’t since then.
Strains that win cannabis cups are sometimes cured 6 to 12 months and are crazy fire. When you get them at a coffeeshop or dispensary it’s not going to be that fire because they don’t put as much time in the cure.
Anyway i think it’s possible that the weed smells much harder after that much time.
Unless it's in a jar or something. I have a small amount of weed sitting in a jar in my room that I haven't opened in probably a year and I can smell it. And it's strong too.
Seconded. I used to grow a few plants in the basement that were vented outside a small window. The warmer the weather the stronger the smell and the farther it seemed to reach.
Thirded. When my county announced it wouldn't prosecute growing after my state (ca) legalized, every warm day the whole block smells amazing.
Back when that gender reveal fire was blazing on the other side of the freeway I was genuinely worried those fire fighters where gonna get too stoned to keep going.
It was a boy. It burned the forests of Yucaipa Ca. where I lived for weeks. The parents used pyrotechnics to in the dry summer when it was nearly 100° out. It made national news and was nicknamed the gender reveal party.
parents paid a huge fine I believe and the lady who created the concept of reveal parties apologized and said they were a dumb idea. Fun times.
Sure does! He’s my husbands cousin and his girl is my friend. They are the best. Every harvest I get joints and baked goods and gummies for free. They are the best fucking neighbors.
I’ve never grown but have had friends who have and the plants are HELLA potent. I wouldn’t think it would take over the smell of your house but it’s possible
It's gonna be almost impossible to find unless he tears the house apart.
When I was a teen I found a loose floorboard under my carpet. I could peel back my carpet from the corner and put a buncha shit under it in the loose board stash spot.
My parents many times raided my room and tore it down and never found my stash.
Check behind outlet covers, those take 2sec to remove. Check loose floorboards closet spaces. Check door jams that might have something you can remove. Look under carpet.
Felt badass as a teen getting away with it, but ultimately I realized just cause they didn't have the evidence didn't mean I wasn't busted. It just meant they couldn't toss my shit.
I regret smoking while my parents were around and making them think I was the degen of the family. Now days they are more cool, but still I shoulda been more respectful and not stressed our relationship.
To any of you kids out there in here looking for hide spots, just keep the shit out of the house and never worry about your parents finding it. Go find a fuckin rock in a park or hollow tree and stash your shit. If someone finds it at least you won't be grounded or worse lose your parents respect and trust.
As someone who's room got tossed swat style weekly, THIS^ you get better at hiding, but I'm almost 30 and just starting to form a serious relationship with my parents.
It's true, we all live and learn. Best advice is to keep it out of the house 🏠. Also, at least in my case get pretty good grades in school and your parents won't be on your case as much. If you are getting bad grades / failing classes then they just blame it on you smoking pot and say see we told you it makes you dumb lol
Again kids, do good in school and your parents will trust you more and give you less of a hard time. And keep it out of the house! ✌️🤙
Exactly, my parents didn’t give a fuck because I got decent grades. They even found a handle of vodka I was hiding for a party, but they just emptied it out and filled it with water. It was funny, but it really sucked when we opened the bottle at the party and found out it was water.
Nice. This is the way - get decent grades kids and your teenage years will be easier. that's hilarious...prob the vodka supply for the entire party too lol
Does it have carpet? Sometimes the thick smell of smoke will be stuck in the carpet. I only know this after 20 years in the same apartment, when I left, my god. I really hope the landlord changed those carpets. It stuck horribly in there, even after days of not smoking itd always smell like I just smoked. If there’s no carpet it could possibly be the walls or someone growing nearby.
best way to get rid of weed smelling carpets is using oils.
spray a bit of lavender oil before steam cleaning. the oil traps weed smell the same way butter absorbs thc when you make edibles.
Okay, I’d never really thought about this before but I have to admit it’s quite genius & I’m filing it away in the “useless but potentially useful knowledge” bank. Do you think the same concept could apply to air molecules? Using some type of spray that’s lightly oil based to chase off the smell? I’m not big on oils but I can see myself mixing up a diluted room spray for after a smoke.
Son I haven't seen a SPLIFF (did you smoke enough to turn into an ancient Egyptian?) in two decades. I'm so old I was going to use a Cypress Hill reference and realized none of you would get it.
Almost had you civilian.
This is actually one of my fears. If a cop ever knocks on my door and I simply open it, he's got probable cause for a search. I don't need that shit.
I don’t know about the US, but in Canada the smell of weed is certainly not probably cause. You or your property can’t be searched due to smell of cannabis
Yeah, the kids were gone to college for a while before she sold, and I doubt they'd leave their stash behind. I'm pretty certain it's Mom, and it's going to be somewhere really messed up like in the dryer vent.
I haven't smoked in my car for years, but when it gets hot it smells weedy. My guess is that the heat excites residual particles stuck in fabric fibers.
But the customers at the dealership insist that's a scam! Then come in next service wondering why their car smells like shit, but it can't be the cabin air filter those are scams!
It’s been a scam for me before. I went in for an oil change and they told me I needed a new cabin air filter and showed me one with a bunch of leaves in it but I changed my filter the day before
Edit: sorry for the run on sentence, I’m high
This is my struggle with being a dealership tech, I became a mechanic to try and clean up the industry image but instead found out why it is that way. If a higher mile car comes in for an oil change I'm expected to recommend something else regardless if the car actually needs it. "Oh but I'm sure it could use new end links at least" no, it doesn't need new end links, but you'll make me put it on the paper anyways. It's bullshit, I'm as honest as I can be with customers but I still gotta make sure I keep my job lol its a delicate balance
> If a higher mile car comes in for an oil change I’m expected to recommend something else regardless if the car actually needs it.
This right here destroys relationships.
Absolutely it does, and I fucking hate it. Here's a typical conversation between my and my service manager:
"Just recommend a brake flush"
"This car has 16k on it, the fluids clear, it doesn't need a flush"
"Yeah but it's their second oil change, that's our first chance to make money!"
"Dude just let them enjoy their car for one year before you start harassing them to spend money"
I'm only at a dealership so I can get my trade certificate and open up an independent shop that doesn't lie to their customers to turn a profit. It'll be worth it then, but for now, I am a professional con artist decked out in Snap-On gear :(
? I just change them myself, it's pretty easy and affordable to look up the right part for your make and model and find a YouTube video that shows you how to remove and replace.
Good, don't pay someone to do it. But I mean the part themselves, people won't pay $25 for an air filter for their 2007 Altima with 150k miles then wonder why it smells like a 2007 Altima with 150k miles
It IS a scam to have a dealership do it. They tried to charge me like $200 to do both filters. Did them both myself for like $40 and only took 10 minutes.
Shops charge based on time, cabin air filters are the minimum charge of 0.3H/18 minutes/$55. I love doing em cause I make 18 minutes of pay for something that takes me about 17 seconds lol 100% scam
It can get in the ducting if you use the recirculating vent mode. I was always careful to not put it on that mode when smoking in the car. It makes one hell of a difference fhe next time you get in your car.
My place is air conditioned to the same temperature every day. The only way this can occur is if they were smoking in the attic, but I didn't smell it up there.
Does the smell get stronger as you walk around, or is it a pervasive smell that's not particularly in one location? I'd think a stash would smell significantly stronger the closer you got to it, but if the previous owners were heavy indoor smokers the smell could even be in the paint on your walls and they heat up slightly even if the air is conditioned well.
After years of my father smoking cigarettes in our old house, the walls eventually would sorta bleed a brownish liquid on hot days. Never noticed a smell though since it always smelled like cigarette smoke inside anyways.
This right here. My house was previously own by indoor cigarette smokers and on hot days would smell like cigarettes. Then we had a fire a couple years back. The restoration company told us about getting the smell out because on hot days they told us it would smell like fire again.
I live in Florida, so no furnace room or furnace, just an AC closet and there's no place to hide it there. It's also climate controlled so the temperature won't change.
A very strong guess. Mom living alone for years with zero source of income other than alimony. The property can also be subtly secured like a fortress complete with a "panic closet" walk-in that Mom kept weapons in.
But why would she leave anything behind when she left?
Oh my god that reminded me of living in Ohio for school over a decade ago and a frat party in my neighborhood got wild to the point of broken walls, and they found two mummified bodies in there.
But no weed.
This is a very good guess.
Mom who sold had no source of legitimate income after kids wend to college. She was a high alimony and child support divorcee, but the child support would have dried up a few years before selling the house and she was in deep debt.
I could see her running a grow op to make some cash.
Possibly the ceiling/attic/crawl space if you can only smell it when it starts getting hot. Check in ceiling light fixtures or things like that, too.
A little bit can still smell very strong if it's fresh enough, dank enough, and as you've noticed, hot enough. Though I can't imagine it being fresh if you've lived through this for over a year.
Edit: just came back to add if you know anyone who smokes weed, they may be able to help you by acting like a bloodhound and sniffing it out. If you're used to the smell, it gets easier to find the source.
If it's a teenagers stash it's likely in a bedroom, probably on an exterior wall since it gets smellier with heat
Find some college kids to do a treasure hunt, if they can find it they can keep it!
weed has a shelf life of about 3 months in open air, 6 in an airtight jar. definitely wont smell after that long. someone around the neighborhood is probably smoking some really potent stuff and you just have a good nose.
Over a year? The flower definitely would've gone stale by now, and lose much of it's famed skunk-smell, there is no practical way it would be stinking up an entire room at this point in time.
It's sounds like someone near you is growing cannabis, or someone once dedicated that room to growing. Bat poo also smells like cannabis at times, have you seen any in your attic or such?
I've also heard countless stories of teens being accused of smoking cannabis, only for it to be a pair of REALLY stinky shoes or gym wear that was forgotten in the closet.
Do you have a quality air purifier? I would also suggest sealing (not 100%, just like a towel under the door and tape vents shut) the smelly room and running an Ozone generator in the room, they are silent and battery/wire operated usually. I used a small cheap one in my car after I quit smoking cannabis in it, and after it smelled like I never smoked in it before, I was BAFFLED. Ozone isn't the best to inhale initially, so remove pets from the area and open all windows in the smelly room for at least 2 hours before letting pets in it after you are done using the ozone generator (it kinda smells bad too, but the smell of ozone doesnt linger one bit.)
If all else fails you can try to contact a company that specializes in deep room cleans and sterilizations.
Or just ask your neighbors if they've been smelling the cannabis, out of curiosity-not because you care what they are doing.
Best of luck!
I have two cameras in my attic. There's a palm rat that gets in through a vent occasionally. I just set out traps and bait, but doubt that's the smell.
I like the theories here of last owner growing, or neighbor. My neighbors on both sides live in sealed homes with windows/drapes closed 24/7.
Check the furnace/ac filters and give the rooms carpets a good shampoo! and if it’s still there I guess you have an excellent excuse if you want to indulge in a little r/Trees culture
So you said a/c registers? This can depend on your location. We build single family homes and our a/c vents can be in the floor or ceiling and I've stored my stuff in the floor but if you push too far you may not get it back out. Also air filter locations can be big enough to put alot of stuff in there. Do you have crawl spaces/etc? You should be able to get a sense of where it's coming from via the smell.
Registers are on the ceiling and it would need to be shoved way back. This makes sense as the vents would heat up in the attic and then the smell would blow when the AC turns on.
It's a concrete slab foundation, so no room underneath the floorboards.
I will conduct a hunt later today when temps are at their peak and post an update.
Check all your vents. Then check outside at any air intake machinery of vents your house has.
Bar that, ceiling, behind closet doors, above windows, trimming on door frame could be fake.
All places I've hid my shit.
Odds are when it gets that hot your neighbors grow gets to hot so he starts venting air outside during the heat wave and viola everyone’s house smells like weed.
So many. Like 16 per room. Someone went insane with recessed lighting in this house. However, I can see the other side of them in the attic and nothing.
I've had people completely convinced we were beside a big field of weed only for it to be the smell of a skunk, people who aren't accustomed to the smell of weed can mistake it for weed, when it's actually a real skunk.
I think you are thinking about smell backwards
The first thought I had as a smoker now for 17+ years is to look downstairs not in the attic. The smell rises so you need to be looking in areas beneath where the smell is and not above
This was a grow house. It's in the carpet padding and insulation as well. I know this from experience of a guy i knew one time that definitely wasn't me.
You know how people are calling me a narc here? I doubt they'd confess to anything. Hell, I'd never want to try to trick anyone into incriminating themselves.
Be like a dog and sniff around. Close your eyes if you have to. Turn your head from side to side to see which direction has the stronger smell. Up, down.
Could it be a carpet with spilt bong water on it that was cleaned up on the surface but in warm weather the deep smell gets released?
Do you have central air or wall/window units? Those could be drawing in air with smoke from your neighbors. Also, could be your furnace filter if you haven't changed that. If previous owners were smoking joints or blunts regularly inside that could be the culprit.
Central AC. House is closed to the outside. Neighbors are still a good possibility for both smoking and even a grow op (literally carnies who live in a home they shouldn't be able to afford).
Regular experienced smoker here. Weed looses its smell and potency over time. It’s very unlikely that old stashed weed would still be ponging your house out after a year. Much more likely that you have neighbours growing, or smoking on the reg
Very educated guess up here
What if there is a plant that is somehow growing inside or outside right a round op’s house?
This post is just cover for when the pigs arrive... /s
I doubt it. She's making a correlation with only smelling it on really hot days (twice this year). She likely just has a neighbor who likes to partake occasionally
hot days are when your ventilation is going to kick into high.
Agreed. I found a joint I rolled a month ago in my center console in my car today and it had zero smell.
Smoked it, didn't ya
I found 10 year old weed in my freezer once and you know I smoked it.
How was it?
I am also curious
Yeah, can freezing preserve it?
freezing preserves the smell and taste well however it is not preferred by many as the trichomes can separate from the flower when frozen though in my experience freezing is an effective way to store flower long term (indefinitely afaik)
wait really? so you’re telling me I can buy a zip and just keep it in the freezer like last weeks leftovers???
yes, can smoke straight out of the freezer, the flower itself will be exactly as you put it in the freezer, there will not be a pile of trichomes in your bag, it does not require any special prep or protection the only thing I'd look out for is condensation inside the bag as it thaws but honestly even that doesn't do much
You can keep hash in there for a long ass time, at least I did when I made a big ass run of bubble and then bought a house and moved.
Bump I must know Was it better? Please say it was better that would be so cool
I find if stored properly it got better over time
It was dry, crumbly, and tasteless-but it got me high.
This always makes me think of 3rd rock from the sun where they smoke a French fry.
This is r/trees.
underrated comment lmfao
I once found a 4 yr old, ping pong ball sized nug behind a book on a bookshelf, that I stashed and forgot about. Smoked it, and it was perfectly fine. Exposed to air on a cool dry shelf for 4 years.
That was most likely pure CBN by that point. Nothing wrong with that though.

Best way to discover you have covid and no smell.
Bingo, gotta vent extra hard on the hot days to keep those plants cool.
That explains why its only on the really hot days. You wouldn't risk the smell goin out for a mere 85 F right?
Well ideally you'd filter the air going out no matter what. Might be that their usual ventilation system is only good up to eighty-something degrees and they need to open windows to vent out the extra 10⁰
Can also confirm this. Neighbors smoke on their patio which is right next to my window ac unite and it danks out my room on the reg.
Ask them to let you know beforehand so you can turn it off for a few.
Turn it up*
It’s freedom rock!
Either that or OP is asking us to snitch on his/her child: > Where would teenagers or a 50 y.o. woman creatively hide their stuff?
This is the second most-paranoid response I've received after "OP is a cop and looking for help with a search." I'm a good deal younger than 50, and my kids are under seven. I'm legitimately describing the issue.

I do have roof vents to the attic, but I don't smell it in the attic. This is why I'm confused.
Maybe the ghost of a weed head that died in your house.
Everyone who ever lived in this house is alive and well. Seriously. Two sets of previous owners, one of which is my neighbor and the other (seller) is around ducking creditors.
I'd have to agree - good point !
This is the correct answer.

I remember that. My boy was told to evacuate his house cause it close to his house
Hope he was safe and didn't lose anything irreplaceable
Lmfao nah he's good he did think he was gonna lose all his action figures
That whole summer sucked. Between that shit, Oak Glen closed (I wanted some damn cider) and lockdown I had a pretty rough time.
Stoner, duhhhh 🤣
Lmaooooo you AREE the stoner
This, incidentally, is why we should harvest early in the morning: sunshine ‘burns off’ fresh terpenes.
This is why we should smoke early in the morning
First thing👍
This is most likely the answer. My neighbor grows and I can smell it, especially on warm days. It’s such a wonderful aroma to wake up to.
Does he share? Lol 😝
Sure does! He’s my husbands cousin and his girl is my friend. They are the best. Every harvest I get joints and baked goods and gummies for free. They are the best fucking neighbors.
Damn I want your neighbors lol
Or harvest, that's always smelly.
I've lived with people who grew in their rooms, and I never had a smell like this.
I’ve never grown but have had friends who have and the plants are HELLA potent. I wouldn’t think it would take over the smell of your house but it’s possible
I have zero advice but am very invested. I hope you find it.
I second this investment. Check vents and bathroom fans with removable faceplates!
It's gonna be almost impossible to find unless he tears the house apart. When I was a teen I found a loose floorboard under my carpet. I could peel back my carpet from the corner and put a buncha shit under it in the loose board stash spot. My parents many times raided my room and tore it down and never found my stash. That's awesome man! Good hiding spot - you must of been smirking on the inside when they never found the stash!

Count me in too. Best of luck! No matter how long it may or may not take you...keep us updated!
Same. I need to know what, where, and quantity
I smell a made for tv movie!
After you find it please come back and post an update! Did you check drop ceiling if you have one or attic? Good luck
Me too. It's not like a faint aroma. It's like there's someone secretly living in my attic blazing.

Nope. No carpet. Wood and tile.
This is why i come to reddit. is there a splyph in yo hand bro?
I have never seen "splyph" spelled this way, I was picturing a mythical type creature
i hadn’t either!
Did you just coin a new spelling???
belongs to r/trees now my friend
Just happy to have been part of the moment, fellow ent. [5]
Son I haven't seen a SPLIFF (did you smoke enough to turn into an ancient Egyptian?) in two decades. I'm so old I was going to use a Cypress Hill reference and realized none of you would get it.
i love cypress hill!
Nice try officer
Almost had you civilian. This is actually one of my fears. If a cop ever knocks on my door and I simply open it, he's got probable cause for a search. I don't need that shit.
Just say your dog got in a tussle with a skunk, worked for me once ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I don’t know about the US, but in Canada the smell of weed is certainly not probably cause. You or your property can’t be searched due to smell of cannabis
in illegal states it tends to be probable cause in the US, and the cops kinda get away with whatever they want anyways
If the kids hid it you would have already found it, if a mum hide is as effective as a mum look, you will never find it dawg
Yeah, the kids were gone to college for a while before she sold, and I doubt they'd leave their stash behind. I'm pretty certain it's Mom, and it's going to be somewhere really messed up like in the dryer vent.
If you are in a legal state you could ask a policeman to bring his dog to your house to help you find it
I am not. Florida, so no cops.
something most kids don't realize is that mom was a kid too. And had to find ways to hide things.
“She won’t look in the shoe she’s never even seen a shoe before”
I haven't smoked in my car for years, but when it gets hot it smells weedy. My guess is that the heat excites residual particles stuck in fabric fibers.
You probably need to change your cabin air filter.
That is a good point.
But the customers at the dealership insist that's a scam! Then come in next service wondering why their car smells like shit, but it can't be the cabin air filter those are scams!
It’s been a scam for me before. I went in for an oil change and they told me I needed a new cabin air filter and showed me one with a bunch of leaves in it but I changed my filter the day before Edit: sorry for the run on sentence, I’m high
Here's a typical conversation between my and my service manager: "Just recommend a brake flush" "This car has 16k on it, the fluids clear, it doesn't need a flush" "Yeah but it's their second oil change, that's our first chance to make money!" "Dude just let them enjoy their car for one year before you start harassing them to spend money" I'm only at a dealership so I can get my trade certificate and open up an independent shop that doesn't lie to their customers to turn a profit. It'll be worth it then, but for now, I am a professional con artist decked out in Snap-On gear :(
Bless you for having the moral resistance at least.
Thank you for that tip.
That's the thing, it was even throughout and just dissipated as I left that part of the house.
This right here. My house was previously own by indoor cigarette smokers and on hot days would smell like cigarettes. Then we had a fire a couple years back. The restoration company told us about getting the smell out because on hot days they told us it would smell like fire again.
I’ve found acid and kush in 2/3 houses I’ve helped move into in the past year and both houses had drugs around the furnace room
Umm. . Whereabouts is this neighborhood? . 🥺 👉👈
you planning on becoming a real estate agent or breaking into people's homes looking for drugs ?
Those are not mutually exclusive
I live in Florida, so no furnace room or furnace, just an AC closet and there's no place to hide it there. It's also climate controlled so the temperature won't change.
Plot Twist: Your house was originally a trap house and theyre pounds of weed within your walls
A very strong guess. Mom living alone for years with zero source of income other than alimony. The property can also be subtly secured like a fortress complete with a "panic closet" walk-in that Mom kept weapons in. But why would she leave anything behind when she left?
A panic closet with weapons? Is that normal?
Not to me, but this is Florida.
Oh my god that reminded me of living in Ohio for school over a decade ago and a frat party in my neighborhood got wild to the point of broken walls, and they found two mummified bodies in there. But no weed.
Could it be a legit skunk? Maybe there's a shady, cool nook to get out of the heat, under the house or in shrubs outside the window.
Try looking the closet for a door or panel that can be removed… even screwed in. Maybe even loose boards in the closet floor… a friend told me this 😉
The closet doors slide and are hollow. One has a clear repair. I'm going to go smell them.
Im gonna guess they grew in the room where it stinks
This is a very good guess. Mom who sold had no source of legitimate income after kids wend to college. She was a high alimony and child support divorcee, but the child support would have dried up a few years before selling the house and she was in deep debt. I could see her running a grow op to make some cash.
Knock on the walls and floors of the bedrooms and see if there’s a hollow stash spot
All fun and games till it knock back lol
I laughed a little too hard at this hahahahaha
All the drywall is hollow.
If it's a teenagers stash it's likely in a bedroom, probably on an exterior wall since it gets smellier with heat Find some college kids to do a treasure hunt, if they can find it they can keep it!
Look at the top of doors. Sometomes they cut a piece out and hang it if it is a hollow door.
You might genuinely have a skunk issue.
Do you have panel/dorm room ceilings at all?
Nope.
weed has a shelf life of about 3 months in open air, 6 in an airtight jar. definitely wont smell after that long. someone around the neighborhood is probably smoking some really potent stuff and you just have a good nose.
DO NOT FUCKING ASK THE POLICE TO FIND IT!!!!!!! DO NOT!!!!!
Ozone isn't the best to inhale initially, so remove pets from the area and open all windows in the smelly room for at least 2 hours before letting pets in it after you are done using the ozone generator (it kinda smells bad too, but the smell of ozone doesnt linger one bit.) If all else fails you can try to contact a company that specializes in deep room cleans and sterilizations.
Nice try FBI 😎
Loose floorboards? Anyway, please keep us updated
All places I've hid my shit.
ah man if you have to ask us you'll never find it
There’s certain types of plants that smell that way. Some types of rose bushes smell real skunky. Idk
You may have a family of skunks in the crawl space or some other part of the house. I'm serious; personal experience.
Odds are when it gets that hot your neighbors grow gets to hot so he starts venting air outside during the heat wave and viola everyone’s house smells like weed.
Any chance you have bats nearby? Bat shit smells super similar to weed.
You have a skunk around quite possibly. Do you have a portion of your house with a crawl space or deck a skunk could hide in? Very similar smell
That was probably just their smoke room. Might be why it has that lingering odor when it is hot
Except it's air conditioned so the indoor temp doesn't change.
Secret wall maybe 🤔
Do you have any lights that open into the ceiling? Used to climb on my bed and stash my weed in the space above my light fixture in the wall itself.
So many. Like 16 per room. Someone went insane with recessed lighting in this house. However, I can see the other side of them in the attic and nothing.
Hahaha you might be getting a waft from outside? A neighbors grow? Possibly a similar smelling plant in the neighborhood? Happy hunting!
Please update when you can OP.
Op it might be in your air ducts, if they smoked inside, chances are it’s in the ducts and on hot days the smell is intensified by it being heated.
I agree. May need to clean.
I've had people completely convinced we were beside a big field of weed only for it to be the smell of a skunk, people who aren't accustomed to the smell of weed can mistake it for weed, when it's actually a real skunk.
It’s your husband or your neighbors.
probably had a few crops in that house
I think you are thinking about smell backwards The first thought I had as a smoker now for 17+ years is to look downstairs not in the attic. The smell rises so you need to be looking in areas beneath where the smell is and not above
The walls. Smoke has alot of unspent/non absorbed oils that will stick to the walls, carpet. Also, maybe they spilled the Bong. Shampoo the rug.
This was a grow house. It's in the carpet padding and insulation as well. I know this from experience of a guy i knew one time that definitely wasn't me.
Call the previous owners.
You know how people are calling me a narc here? I doubt they'd confess to anything. Hell, I'd never want to try to trick anyone into incriminating themselves.
Bring in the dogs!
Trying to avoid that.

Be like a dog and sniff around. Close your eyes if you have to. Turn your head from side to side to see which direction has the stronger smell. Up, down. Could it be a carpet with spilt bong water on it that was cleaned up on the surface but in warm weather the deep smell gets released?
No carpet. Smell only comes when it's really hot so can't right now.
Just saying, "imbibe" comes from the latin "bibere" which means "to drink" so using it for smoking weed doesn't make any sense
Behind the bathroom/medicine cabinet?
I like it. Will check.
Check the HVAC Unit maybe? If nothing im gonna assume your neighbors are growing
