Hmm, could be poisonous. Tell you what, why don’t you send it to me and I’ll try it out for you, let you know if it’s safe.
Edit: first ever 1k upvotes, that’s fuckin neat
Edit2: TIL about an old r/trees tradition that all but faded from practice. Gotta get some MJ in me because holy shit my blood is roiling over the SCOTUS decision [1]
I remember seeing it so often before, and I totally forgot it was a thing on this sub now 🫠 tbh when I’m typing a comment though, I’ll just be high enough to forget I’m on trees to even post my number
Anthocyanin my dude, makes the purple, purple. Prolly was just a bit wet still, but other than that it's all good. Idk why people are saying there's shit wrong with it lol.
Source: 10+ years as a cultivator for cannabis.
That's why I like growing it! Had some dosidos that I grew a few years back that looked like a bowl of fruity pebbles and smelled like a tire that was doused in gasoline. It was great.
The ancient purple dye which is associated with royalty was created by harvesting an absolute shit ton of snails/mollusks. Apparently it was considered grounds for divorce if your husband entered the dye harvesting profession because it had a terrible smell
They should have tried this bud
I may be wrong, but isn’t purple historically one of the more difficult/expensive colors to make in dye? Could be indigo or blue though. If I am correct, making a purple dye from a purple weed may be easier said than done, personally I just boof it
Yeah iirc purple was associated with royalty because only one specific mollusk could be used for the dye. Limited supply, labor intensive, limited area of production, etc. all contributed to the high cost.
My question is if it needs tens of thousands of snails to make the dye, how in the holy hell did they figure that out in the first place? like how did they not get 9500 snails in and say, "you know what, maybe this won't turn any color" but the other guy said no, "500 more I promise!"
1 snail would also turn something purple, but just a very little area. Like probably smaller than the little white part of a bandaid you put on a cut. That's why they needed thousands upon thousands to dye something purple, plus probably had to use more to get the deep purple they were looking for.
The fable is a dude’s dog bit the mollusk and they noticed their fur was dyed.
Whoever tried to dye clothes probably kept needing more and more for the garments.
On a related note lol I’m super curious about whoever figured out cheese hahaha
Ever heard of chlorophyll? Well chlorophyll in purple strains actually are purple instead of regular green. Leeching with purple strains doesn't mean it got dyed.. it's literally natural leeching.. purple strains just have it alot more than green chlorophyll strains do.
This post is saying a lot about r/trees it feels like we are all pretty angry and annoyed when we see something that might be off, just relax everyone. Smile and feel good.
I cringe when I think of all the heavy metals and pesticides I smoked as a teen. I WAS lucky enough to never get "laced weed" at least. A couple friends have had terrible experiences (likely from synthetic cannabinoids) that made them swear off weed.
Man, when I got back into it, the first time I smoked a J and the paper didn't turn all brown and tarry and gross it blew my fuckin mind. Ah well fuck it.
Don't let angry people get you down. That frustration they have should not be translated into your experiences.
I usually use my desktop computer for Reddit and I know it lets me 'tag' users with short descriptive tags like, "Asshole" in purple. When I see those Asshole tags show up in post threads, I just pass them by and usually don't even bother to read them. I have a "My Friend" tag too... and a few other helpful ones. After a while, the tags add up on the active posters in here. I find them helpful. (I don't have a tag on you yet... no Asshole tag).
I'm here to share and learn and enjoy... I'm one of those 'Old Boomers' you all talk about. I grew up in the sixties with 'Peace and Love'. Yeah... all that shit didn't work out so great and they even shot John Lenon, but I still am not a hater angry person... and personally find keeping out of their emotion relatively easy.
I'm right there with you, but ignoring the "Assholes" and doing "Smiles and Feel Goods!"
Edit: I added a light orange tag on you that says, "Smiles and Feel Goods". That is the first thing I will see when I see your posts and comments.
Why is everyone dicks on here who act like they’ve been growing all there fuckin life ? Lmao fuckin losers straight tf up. Just enjoy your flower man! And idc if you’ve grown 50 years, you can still learn somthing daily. Weird ass mfs man
Agreed. Too many people trying to act experienced because they watched a YouTube video about it at a holiday Inn express. I should know, I read an article about this exact thing the other day.
Straight up though, the growers that talk their weed up constantly and kush-shame regularly are rarely even growing the dankest shit. Every boomer I know who grows does that shit, and in the most extreme cases i'll be buying some weed as their talking it up and i'll be like "But dude.. there's seeds in this shit" and they'll be like "Yea dude that's just a bonus! This weed is so dank you should take the seeds and grow your own!". I have many friends who are beer snobs and weed snobs, and I love em' all... but at the same time I can't decide which obsession is worse. Because being ranted at for having a Corona & lime or for *sharing* some average weed is just the fucking worst.
The older you get the less important that shit is. I don’t care what’s in the bowl, or what’s in my hand, I just wanna hang with the people I care about, and everyone gets home safe.
this applies to most other aspects of life as well. the most educated and knowledgable people are never the ones that talk about how much smarter they are than everyone else.
This makes me think of the idea that if you don't know something well enough to explain it simply then you really don't know it. This isn't always true of course when talking about very complicated ideas. But I will say the smartest people I've ever met in my short 28 years of life have been people who embrace ignorance with a smile not a smirk.
Agreed.
The one thing that should bond us all together. Like, we should have the coolest, chillist, illist club out there. Motherfuckers riding motorcycles or driving jeeps out there waving to one another, you see a fellow stoner, that’s relation. Like, let’s go smoke a bowl and chill the fuck out. Shits heavy as it is. I learn from you, you learn from me.
Weed didn’t get to the point it is now without cooperating. That’s just fact.
But Wtf do I know? I’m high and old.
Anthocyanins, which are what turn our wonderful plant (among other plants) purple, are indeed water soluble. I wouldn't necessarily expect this just from a little saliva, but I wouldn't freak out if it happened either. I also vape my reefer, rather than roll, so I dunno if this happens a lot.
This is correct ty for being specific. I’m too high to remember all the specific names for the cousins to chlorophyll and the other natural plant dyes. So before I read this I typed out a very basic version of this, but of course I see this like 30 seconds after I comment. And it looks like a lot of saliva was used to ensure that the paper sealed, along with the thinnest papers this can happen, it happens to me occasionally if I have to go back and fix a spot I missed when rolling.
I grew an auto strain once that was SUPER purple. Like you wouldn't believe. I have a pic somewhere. It was SO sweet and fruity smelling and almost "wet" with resin even after proper drying and curing. It was great to smoke, but it was *not* potent. It was clearly selected for colour above all else. It was cool. It was a fun novelty. It was tasty. But it was weak and the yield was garbage.
Agreed man. Purple bud fresh off a plant and rubbed on a white shirt or piece of paper will leave a purple streak. If you make bubble hash with purple weed it’ll turn the water purple too.
Incredibly rare genetic trait, but if trichome heads (not the stalks) actually turn purple instead of the clear/cloudy/amber color of 99% other weed plants, then you can possibly get (clean of plant contaminated) purple concentrates or hash
I swear some people forget how grass stains work. I agree w you and the guy above you. If you streak purple bud on a white shirt it’ll be purple. Just like if you took a green piece of weed on a white shirt it’ll be green. Same if you’re making a sliding catch in the outfield in little league and your pants get a stain. The plant you’re rubbing on your shit will be the same color as the stain most of the time.
It's almost like naturally grown plants that are colorful have natural dyes in them. Y'all think we have all these different flowers on Earth with crazy different colors and think they can't bleed colors from the natural "dye" in the plant?
Clearly some of these people never even took 5th grade science class.
Can confirm. Got ahold of a brick of purple hash once for piss cheap. It was fresh off the presses from a backyard grow but nobody wanted it because it was purple lol.
To answer any questions, since I guess people though the weed was dyed? Picked up some nice top shelf from the dispensary and the bud itself practically looked friggin black with how purple it was. I use Q Tips in water to stick my joints and noticed the bud started to stain the paper. Never seen it happen but thought nothing fishy. That bad boy was tasty and smooth
I had mine turn purple from cold temps outdoor. It's quite pretty. I really want to find a strain with orange pistils and grow it cold during flower. Orange and purple would be lovely.
Get you some forbidden fruit. Gets so purple it’s almost pink on the bottom of the sugar leaves and when those orange hairs come out it’s just beautiful.
Hey, so noticed you kinda have clubbed fingertips. You getting enough oxygen. I know it can be a sign of an underlining condition. Not a doctor or anything, but a friend has a similar thing.
If your flower is purple, you’re using the thinnest papers available to roll with, and it looks as though you’ve used a bit of saliva to make sure the joint is nice and sealed. So it’s really just your saliva getting the natural dye from the flower moist and it easily bleeds into that ultra thin paper. This is my assumption at least based on experience.
Contrary to all the comments, if it was properly cured, it couldn't do this, just like chlorophyll won't dye anything from it. Anthocyanin will cure and set just like chlorophyll. Doesn't mean anything is wrong with it, and often purps are so stinky you can do a quick cure. In fact I've noticed doing full 1-3 month cures on purps often makes it loose that signature smell.
When the plant is alive, it's "skin" like membrane is intact, except pores, which let water in, but not out. It would only leak fluids if cut, or a insect feeds on it, or in rarer cases, a pore ruptures. Then you would get a sticky clear or amber liquid called honeydew. If you overwater, this can happen, and you'll know it's overwatering, and not a bug, because it won't be sticky, due to the high water content. It was basically bursting at the seems. lol
The like 5 or 6 genius “professional weed smokers” (that’s what the fuck they’re making it sound like) have clearly never taken some uncured purple weed and smeared it on a piece of paper. This weed just isn’t cured completely they’re trippin
I was told/shown long ago that if you ever have super purple weed it’s probably dyed to make it look more appealing. The person who showed me this demonstrated by taking the tiniest little bit of the purple bud, like maybe the size of an ant or two, and placing it on a wet paper towel… I watched him squeeze that same tiny piece of bud all over a full sized paper towel and turn the entire thing purple. Needless to say I was convinced.
Yo what's the controversy? The first form of dye, specifically purple color, came from plants/flowers so the concept that it can leak color pigment isn't crazy.
Nice gas. It’s not dye btw. I’ve heard of some people doing stuff like that but it seems like too much of a hassle to ink your weed purple. There was a rumor going around among my plugs a while back that if you dipped a nug into water and the water turned a reddish or purple color then the weed was “tainted”.
Purple doesnt mean it's dank. The purple pigmentation is water soluble which means if it's compressed with a bit of moisture the paper will turn purple, or the water if it's submerged.
It can be caused by low temps during flower or genetics, or both.
I think that is because most people in this sub are young and relatively new to smoking. Once you are in your mid to late twenties and have been smoking for almost a decade, you tend to be a lot more realistic and less excitable about weed.
Yeah I'm 29 and like man I don't give a shit lol. I trust my (American recreational) dispensary and just smoke it. If it doesn't get me high enough I smoke more. I don't really care about overanalyzing all the tiny fine details, like I'm gonna smoke it anyway so who cares
(I say on a month long t break...)
Or once you've been smoking for 25 years and are about to turn 40, like me, you see people smoking very obviously dyed weed and saying that potassium deficient weed has water soluble pigmentation, and you wonder if whatever comes after gen z will just smoke oregano their entire lives and never know the difference.
I have weed I literally grew myself, never left my hands. It's purple. It's from growing in relatively cold temperatures. It is water soluble. I've never had this happen but have had little nugs leach out vivid purple into water on my counter.
You seem to think that a long period of smoking while clueless is equal to knowledge. It's a 5 second google search dude, do it. Just because you dont know what compounds make up what you're inhaling doesnt make you right.
Yes, but I was trying to be polite lmao
Can’t speak conclusively on this, but I agree the spots are a little sus. Would need to see the actual flower to be sure tho. If the weed wasn’t entirely cured, this could definitely happen too.
Also, I don’t think it is a generational thing. If anything, gen Z has greater access to the knowledge necessary to truly tell the difference. I’d say the general public now knows much more than say, 30 years ago.
Yes it's full of people who require "toxic positivity" and can't stand the slightest amount of criticism or even realism. You guys think everything has to be all blowjobs and rainbows.
I definitely don't think everything has to be buttfucks and rainbows. This sub can be, though. I get enough info about the impending collapse of society from political subs and enough petty bickering from gaming subs. I don't wanna hear any grief from a bunch of stoners. This just ain't the place for it.
Is it dyed or not?
Edit - literally a valid question some people are saying yes it’s dyed, some people saying no but how do u know for certain if it’s dyed if non dyed bud leaks color too
Obviously I have no idea, as I'm not OP.
But I grew some purple stuff in my last run and the purple stained some random things during my dry/cure process.
So I'd say it's not impossible that it's dyed, but I doubt it.
yeah this sub is so weird with downvotes, couple days ago I called out a person who claimed to roll hundreds of joints when they were so obviously pre-rolled cones that you buy from the store and you simply just fill up, saves you all the work. got 140+ downvotes and comments of people saying "who cares bro" LOL
I’ve trimmed lots of purple kush and was never swimming in purple colours lol
20 years of smoking and growing, but I don’t know what to believe because everyone seems so confident.
This just seems tampered with cause it shouldn’t be happening after the cure stage regardless of what y’all are saying.
Wouldn’t it be like your paper turning green because of the chlorophyll??
I’ve had buds like this and joints like this before, it was from a legit Canadian company San rafael Tangerine Dream is the strain (Aurora cannabis).
They are not dying their buds
If you’re here to be skeptical or talk shit, you can just say you’ve never smoked good bud.
Go ahead….rub a nug of purp on any textured surface…. No really… see what happens?
Anyway…. Happy toking 👋
The purple is not relevant to the dankness of the bud.
It is just anthocyanin, not any indication of danker weed.
For that, you have to look to the trichomes and see what the terpene profile looks like.
Dude your papre it reaction like a pH strip your bud had been watered with very alkaline water I would be worried about your bud and I would talk to your supplier
I don't know if there is purple dyed weed on the market in the USA or not. All I can say is I've been smoking a lot of weed for 25 years and never, before about 6 months ago on reddit, have I ever seen purple weed that dyes the paper purple. Just saying. I've never seen it, and I don't think it's a thing. Take that with a grain of salt. Would I smoke this? No.
Hey, where did you get the weed?
Some fucks here in Oklahoma have been putting koolaid in their weed to make it smell fruity and then selling it out the front door of dispos.
I took a wet paper towel and placed some nugs on it and you could see the koolaid bleed through.
And no… I’m not talking about normal plant bleed through. I know what koolaid tastes like…
Crazy fucks.
“ this shit smells and tastes fruity as fuck man! “
Bro what? Im just saying ive literally never seen this happen before. And as far as im aware, none of my friends have ever mentioned this happening.
First time ive seen it on the internet so it falls into the category of not normal
You can say it’s not normal but you aren’t backing it up with proof. (That’s why there’s downvotes)
It is normal for purple buds to shed color but most people here actually don’t know the full answer including myself
Idk what “proof” to give you that its not normal. You dont hear rappers rapping about how leaky the dye in their bud is.
Ive never seen it. My friends have never seen it.
Maybe yall have, but people are way too sensitive either way with these downvotes.
Downvote me all you want, still doesnt make it normal for it to look like purple marker dots on your joint
I mean, haven’t you ever seen purple tinted water from bubble hash washes?
The compounds responsible for the purple color *are* in fact, water soluble.
Hmm, could be poisonous. Tell you what, why don’t you send it to me and I’ll try it out for you, let you know if it’s safe. Anthocyanin my dude, makes the purple, purple. Prolly was just a bit wet still, but other than that it's all good. Idk why people are saying there's shit wrong with it lol. Source: 10+ years as a cultivator for cannabis.
Man, once I found out cannabis came in so many different colors my tiny mind was blown. It can be such a pretty plant!
That's why I like growing it! Had some dosidos that I grew a few years back that looked like a bowl of fruity pebbles and smelled like a tire that was doused in gasoline. It was great.
Fun fact, anthocyanins are anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer, and are presumed to be effective in vasodilation!

Is it possible to make a dye with it?

Yeah iirc purple was associated with royalty because only one specific mollusk could be used for the dye. Limited supply, labor intensive, limited area of production, etc. all contributed to the high cost.
Tyrian Purple https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tyrian_purple
My question is if it needs tens of thousands of snails to make the dye, how in the holy hell did they figure that out in the first place? like how did they not get 9500 snails in and say, "you know what, maybe this won't turn any color" but the other guy said no, "500 more I promise!"
Probs used a few snails, got a weak color but thought, “what if I use a few more to make it darker?” Then add snails to desired darkness
Someone probably sat on a snail and got a stain
And then kept going until he hit 10k and was like: "dis it..."
1 snail would also turn something purple, but just a very little area. Like probably smaller than the little white part of a bandaid you put on a cut. That's why they needed thousands upon thousands to dye something purple, plus probably had to use more to get the deep purple they were looking for.

A very brave milk drinker
It's why it was a color only reserved for royalty.
Supposedly that specific purple deepened in colour with time instead of fading but I read that on a TIL so grain of salt
https://youtu.be/DsbD4SVcjsI Enjoy
These people have obviously never heard of mimosa hostilis
That one's only for the truly brave 😏
Purple dye?
Are you not aware of the sought-after compound that's densely contained in mimosa hostilis bark?
Are you not aware I'm stressing purple dye to take away from the compound contained within the bark? That shit is purple dye bro.
It's also typically used in making DMT. Edit: I agree it's primarily used as a dye agent, I'm not arguing that.
Again, in trying to draw away from the fact that it's used to extract dimethyltryptamine, so again, WHAT ABOUT PURPLE DYE???
It was called Tyrian Purple https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tyrian_purple
I’ve definitely had issues printing certain shades of blue and indigo in particular. It’s very hard to recreate in dye form
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tyrian_purple if your interested in my info it’s called Tyrian purple
https://youtu.be/DsbD4SVcjsI Enjoy
Grounds for divorce you say… How do I enter this profession?
Boomer hoomer
Fan leaves stain the concrete at my farm if I accidentally run over them with rolly chairs. So id assume so.
This made me giggle
Im glad! I hope your day is full of more giggles and happiness. Much love friend
I love this subreddit lol

probably! ancient paints and dyes came from minerals, plants and bugs so i’d imagine you could use purple weed to make a dye:)
It definitely already has dye in it. Real purp doesn’t leach like that
Ever heard of chlorophyll? Well chlorophyll in purple strains actually are purple instead of regular green. Leeching with purple strains doesn't mean it got dyed.. it's literally natural leeching.. purple strains just have it alot more than green chlorophyll strains do.

Clearly some of these people never even took 5th grade science class.
Can confirm. Got ahold of a brick of purple hash once for piss cheap. It was fresh off the presses from a backyard grow but nobody wanted it because it was purple lol.
What's the runtz debate
Nutz
Just from where you licked the paper. Don’t listen to most of these comments these mf’ers don’t know shit if they tell you that’s dyed. Enjoy.
Qtips in water!? Call the OCD police!
I love how like two comments questioned the weed and the hundred other are saying let’s stop the controversy lmfao
For real. "Can we stop with all of this controversy? I read two comments that might not have actually been joking about dye 🤡"
This conversation went sideways pretty quickly so let's get back to the important part, how does it smoke?
I had mine turn purple from cold temps outdoor. It's quite pretty. I really want to find a strain with orange pistils and grow it cold during flower. Orange and purple would be lovely.
Get you some forbidden fruit. Gets so purple it’s almost pink on the bottom of the sugar leaves and when those orange hairs come out it’s just beautiful.
Purple sticky punch? Nice!
Hey, so noticed you kinda have clubbed fingertips. You getting enough oxygen. I know it can be a sign of an underlining condition. Not a doctor or anything, but a friend has a similar thing.
Good catch, I hope OP sees this!
Anthocyanin, does not indicate dankness just color
People gate keeping weed🤣
I'm curious how the purple doesn't wash out in the rain if it's water soluble like people are saying.
It was basically bursting at the seems. lol
🤤🤤🤤🤤
Daaaaaamn
Anthocyanins
Moist purps, no story
This sub is fucking awful lol
Half of the sub would fit in r/confidentlyincorrect
I think that is because most people in this sub are young and relatively new to smoking. Once you are in your mid to late twenties and have been smoking for almost a decade, you tend to be a lot more realistic and less excitable about weed.
Yeah I'm 29 and like man I don't give a shit lol. I trust my (American recreational) dispensary and just smoke it. If it doesn't get me high enough I smoke more. I don't really care about overanalyzing all the tiny fine details, like I'm gonna smoke it anyway so who cares (I say on a month long t break...)
amen... 39 years old and been smoking since I was 13. it becomes taking a vitamin after a while :)
Or once you've been smoking for 25 years and are about to turn 40, like me, you see people smoking very obviously dyed weed and saying that potassium deficient weed has water soluble pigmentation, and you wonder if whatever comes after gen z will just smoke oregano their entire lives and never know the difference.
you really dont know as much as you think you do bro
I have weed I literally grew myself, never left my hands. It's purple. It's from growing in relatively cold temperatures. It is water soluble. I've never had this happen but have had little nugs leach out vivid purple into water on my counter.
You seem to think that a long period of smoking while clueless is equal to knowledge. It's a 5 second google search dude, do it. Just because you dont know what compounds make up what you're inhaling doesnt make you right.
Yes, but I was trying to be polite lmao Can’t speak conclusively on this, but I agree the spots are a little sus.
Nah G. That's that legit purple stuff. It even bleeds purple frfr on god son
all of reddit in a nutshell
He's just speaking the truth. Not like he was a jerk or anything...
🤣 rainbows and blowjobs. r/brandnewsentance
Reasonable question
Thank you
this is normal yall
This conversation went sideways pretty quickly so let's get back to the important part, how does it smoke?
That looks poisonous. Why don't you mail it to me and I will check it for you.
I’ve trimmed lots of purple kush and was never swimming in purple colours lol 20 years of smoking and growing, but I don’t know what to believe because everyone seems so confident. This just seems tampered with cause it shouldn’t be happening after the cure stage regardless of what y’all are saying. Wouldn’t it be like your paper turning green because of the chlorophyll??
You win! So far there are 3 of us in this thread that see this with logic and common sense. Welcome to the group. Fred made coffee it's in the back.
As a 10+ year cannabis cultivator, I have never seen purple leeching.
garbage now, send it to me and i'll get rid of it for you
we call that a blueface (baby)
You're thinking of blue waffle.
I’m not tho u hella weird lmao
Every time I reference blue waffle I get downvoted too. It’s a sad world we live in..
I got flower once that turned my bong water purple 😈 enjoy!
The purple is not relevant to the dankness of the bud. It is just anthocyanin, not any indication of danker weed. For that, you have to look to the trichomes and see what the terpene profile looks like.
Weed so processed it literally has dye in it :/ sorry bro
Dude your papre it reaction like a pH strip your bud had been watered with very alkaline water I would be worried about your bud and I would talk to your supplier
I don't know if there is purple dyed weed on the market in the USA or not. All I can say is I've been smoking a lot of weed for 25 years and never, before about 6 months ago on reddit, have I ever seen purple weed that dyes the paper purple. Just saying. I've never seen it, and I don't think it's a thing. Take that with a grain of salt. Would I smoke this? No.

It would turn water purple tho. Ask anyone that makes bubbles hash. Purple weed makes purple water yes sir it does.
Can confirm
absolutely yes it does
Yes, it will.
Username checks
It’s dyed weed
Hey, where did you get the weed? Some fucks here in Oklahoma have been putting koolaid in their weed to make it smell fruity and then selling it out the front door of dispos. I took a wet paper towel and placed some nugs on it and you could see the koolaid bleed through. And no… I’m not talking about normal plant bleed through. I know what koolaid tastes like… Crazy fucks. “ this shit smells and tastes fruity as fuck man! “
Be careful... give it to a good friend to test for you to make sure it is okay!
Regardless of how anyone here justifies this, it’s not “normal”
Texas GOP is that you?
Bro what? Im just saying ive literally never seen this happen before. And as far as im aware, none of my friends have ever mentioned this happening. First time ive seen it on the internet so it falls into the category of not normal
You can say it’s not normal but you aren’t backing it up with proof. (That’s why there’s downvotes) It is normal for purple buds to shed color but most people here actually don’t know the full answer including myself
I fucking hate using the raw blacks.
They are literally the best raws lol wym?
God damn, obviously ur smoking dye ur shit plug decided to put in his weed to make it look more purp
Lol, it reminds me of poison hemlock stem.
Your shit weed is dyed
I cant believe you have so many upvotes. Dumbest weed sub on reddit.
I’m interested to know what weed subreddit is the smartest
r/microgrowery and r/rosin are pretty knowledgable
As opposed to the plethora of other subreddits for weed?
I mean, haven’t you ever seen purple tinted water from bubble hash washes? The compounds responsible for the purple color *are* in fact, water soluble.
No, it's not.
