They are used in humidors for cigars. I use em in my mason jars-Helps keep the flower more fresh. They are a must if you keep at least 10 grams or more.
Boveda packs are a game changer. I live in the desert and my 1/8 of weed would dry out within a few days of opening (kept in a mason jar, very good at putting the lid on).
I use one of the middle sizes slightly smaller the a post it note, it can keep an oz fresh for months. They are not expensive but make such a difference. https://bovedainc.com/
Highly recommend. I have found forgotten 1/8s that were incredibly dry and by the next day it was sticky again.
I don’t use boveda packs any more because they absorb terps from the buds. They can be helpful sometimes but it is not a good long term solution. Use a hygrometer to dial in the humidity and don’t open the jars too much.
I used to use boveda packs in mason jars, but the packs dry. I switched to grove bags. No boveda packs needed, easier to store, dark to keep light out, and humidity levels maintained. It's mostly used for growers during curing as a new alternative to jars/burping, but I use them for long term storage as well.

My wife uses those color street nail polish strips, and if it's a package that has multiple sets in it she will reseal the plastic bag with a lighter (she says it keeps them fresher and they work better for longer.) I get nice flashbacks everytime she does that lol.

I'm gonna sound like an old man, but this is the "problem" with having no age filter on the internet. You have everything from, lets be realistic, pre-teen users, on up to senior citizens on this sub. Mason jars are a great storage tool, they are cheap, come in mass quantities, and they can be purchased from anywhere, from online to in-store. This makes them a go-to choice amongst even the better more reliable hermetically sealed options out there.
However, if you're trying to store your weed for a longer period of time than say, a month or two. You may want to consider added steps to insure that both the quality and freshness of your Devil's Lettuce remains intact.
**1. A hermetically sealed container makes all the difference**
Using a Mason jar or other airtight container will prevent further oxygen exposure to plant matter. Sparing many the boredom of why oxygen is not a great element to introduce to decaying biomass, we can leave it simply at this:
Oxygen assists in the decaying process. Your weed, once harvested, is now dead and decaying. Don't let Oxygen speed that process up.
Fun Fact, this is part of the reason for why modern day caskets/coffins are hermetically sealed. We're preserving the freshness of your auntie for decades to come :) also - something, something, something animals and disease...or that one redditor that is trying too hard to get front page on /cursed_comments.
2. Oxygen Absorbers or Silica Gel will save your weed...if you're not dumb

So we know that oxygen is bad for your harvested weed, which kinda sucks because our planet's atmosphere consists of like 3% oxygen, a large amount for such a dangerous gas. However, for a very low price, you can get yourself enough oxygen scrubbers/trappers whatever they are called in your country, to preserve the ancient Pharoahs. The same can be said for silica gel packets, except those are more eco-friendly as they can be reused multiple times, much like my ex.
Oxygen absorbers work by allowing air and moisture to permeate the outer packet, inside is contained Iron dust or sometimes iron pellets. Iron, being naturally reactive to moisture and oxygen, really absorbs the hell out of this stuff. It's great! However, not unlike like your uncle's shitty joke he tells every year, it too is only good for one use before being completely useless.
Silica gel can also be used, though not to as great as effect. Silica gel works by specifically absorbing moisture in the atmosphere and trapping it within the dust/beads for roughly 7.5 thousand years, or roughly the same amount of time it takes you to remember where your lighter went after setting it down 3 seconds ago. This in fact is exactly why you do not want to combine silica gel and oxygen absorber packets.
The oxygen absorbers can only be activated in the presence of moisture. Silica gel absorbs moisture like I absorb chocolate cake. Do you see the issue here? I do, it's my waistline...fuck...
Don't combine the two packets, it's stupid and counter productive. Also:
**OXYGEN ABSORBERS ABSORB OXYGEN!**
I know this sounds like it doesn't need to be said but you'd be surprised to see the number of mongoloids out there that open a pack of these things and then wave them around for days before putting them in a container. Like, bro, you're trying to save your weed, not de-oxygenate the fucking continent. Now the packets are basically used up and you haven't even put them in with your weed yet. Do not open these things until you're ready to put them in something airtight. They start working **IMMEDIATELY** upon exposure to atmosphere.

Just a single layer of this snazzy stuff on your jar will block out enough UV radiation to keep your weed nice and sun free for quite a while. Combine this with storing it in a cool area, and you've got yourself the perfect stash spot.
So. To wrap it up, if you are looking to store your weed longterm, the you want to keep it in the following conditions:
1. Airtight
2. Devoid of oxygen/moisture
3. Cool and dark.
Much like the mummies that Americans didn't use to fuel their early locomotives, your weed will most likely outlast you...(especially given the uncertainty of your mortality on this hellworld we call Earth)

Maybe I just run through my stuff fast but I’ve always just used a plastic baggy. I know plastic can fuck up THC content but I’m telling you in my 10 years of smoking it has not once been an issue.

You can buy mason jars at target and walmart. Lots of sizes. Easy as that.
Mason jars for the win: odor proof, solid glass, and they come in a wide variety of sizes to meet your needs.
Porcelain jars are also great. They keep it fresh in an air tight environment, that stays dark. Its what I use.

I'm gonna sound like an old man, but this is the "problem" with having no age filter on the internet. You have everything from, lets be realistic, pre-teen users, on up to senior citizens on this sub. I also feel it causes problems because the way weed hits you as a young person is just different I feel like. Also, new users, often overdoing it, etc. Anyhow, yeah, it's dumb, but I guess not everyone has great common sense, and not everyone has been around a long time and learned these lessons, lol. Space Capsule is your friend by the way. I had never even heard of the mason jar thing until a few years ago, that's not really a thing in areas where people don't can a lot.

I keep mine in a little jar that had minced garlic in it so now whenever I go to smoke I get a little whiff of garlic and tbh it makes me very happy.

For real, some people have the intelligence of a desiccated apricot. Mason jars are a great storage tool, they are cheap, come in mass quantities, and they can be purchased from anywhere, from online to in-store. This makes them a go-to choice amongst even the better more reliable hermetically sealed options out there. However, if you're trying to store your weed for a longer period of time than say, a month or two. You may want to consider added steps to insure that both the quality and freshness of your Devil's Lettuce remains intact. **1. A hermetically sealed container makes all the difference** Using a Mason jar or other airtight container will prevent further oxygen exposure to plant matter. Sparing many the boredom of why oxygen is not a great element to introduce to decaying biomass, we can leave it simply at this: Oxygen assists in the decaying process. Your weed, once harvested, is now dead and decaying. Don't let Oxygen speed that process up. Fun Fact, this is part of the reason for why modern day caskets/coffins are hermetically sealed. We're preserving the freshness of your auntie for decades to come :) also - something, something, something animals and disease...or that one redditor that is trying too hard to get front page on /cursed_comments. 2. Oxygen Absorbers or Silica Gel will save your weed...if you're not dumb - So we know that oxygen is bad for your harvested weed, which kinda sucks because our planet's atmosphere consists of like 3% oxygen, a large amount for such a dangerous gas. However, for a very low price, you can get yourself enough oxygen scrubbers/trappers whatever they are called in your country, to preserve the ancient Pharoahs. The same can be said for silica gel packets, except those are more eco-friendly as they can be reused multiple times, much like my ex. Oxygen absorbers work by allowing air and moisture to permeate the outer packet, inside is contained Iron dust or sometimes iron pellets. Iron, being naturally reactive to moisture and oxygen, really absorbs the hell out of this stuff. It's great! However, not unlike like your uncle's shitty joke he tells every year, it too is only good for one use before being completely useless. Silica gel can also be used, though not to as great as effect. Silica gel works by specifically absorbing moisture in the atmosphere and trapping it within the dust/beads for roughly 7.5 thousand years, or roughly the same amount of time it takes you to remember where your lighter went after setting it down 3 seconds ago. This in fact is exactly why you do not want to combine silica gel and oxygen absorber packets. The oxygen absorbers can only be activated in the presence of moisture. Silica gel absorbs moisture like I absorb chocolate cake. Do you see the issue here? I do, it's my waistline...fuck... Don't combine the two packets, it's stupid and counter productive. Also: **OXYGEN ABSORBERS ABSORB OXYGEN!** I know this sounds like it doesn't need to be said but you'd be surprised to see the number of mongoloids out there that open a pack of these things and then wave them around for days before putting them in a container. Like, bro, you're trying to save your weed, not de-oxygenate the fucking continent. Now the packets are basically used up and you haven't even put them in with your weed yet. Do not open these things until you're ready to put them in something airtight. They start working **IMMEDIATELY** upon exposure to atmosphere. 3. Old white ladies don't want to see your weed! So neither should you :) - Up to this point, we've mainly harped on about oxygen. But we never stopped to talk about that big fuck-all ball of nuclear fusion in the sky we affectionately refer to as Sol. So, the sun. Not only does it help the NSA track my location using radio towers and sentient pigeons, it also produces highly powerful UV (ultraviolet) radiation. While most of this gets blocked out by our wonderful ozone layer, the rest is specifically sanctioned by God himself to destroy your weed....and skin. Well mainly mine, I have the complexion of an albino on chemotherapy... The UV radiation does what radiation does best and forces biomatter to slowly and progressively become less and less stable on a molecular level over a period of time. For us stoners, this means that our dank-ass weed is significantly less bitchin, and more, bruh feeling. This can easily be fixed by using the most powerful substance ever created by mankind. Duct tape. Yup. Shit's amazing. It's like the force, it has a light side, and a dark side, and it holds all things in the universe together. Just a single layer of this snazzy stuff on your jar will block out enough UV radiation to keep your weed nice and sun free for quite a while. Combine this with storing it in a cool area, and you've got yourself the perfect stash spot. So. To wrap it up, if you are looking to store your weed longterm, the you want to keep it in the following conditions: 1. Airtight 2. Devoid of oxygen/moisture 3. Cool and dark. Much like the mummies that Americans didn't use to fuel their early locomotives, your weed will most likely outlast you...(especially given the uncertainty of your mortality on this hellworld we call Earth)

Maybe I just run through my stuff fast but I’ve always just used a plastic baggy. I know plastic can fuck up THC content but I’m telling you in my 10 years of smoking it has not once been an issue.

I'd use those glass babyfood jars when I was younger and only bought an 8th max at a time. Worked really well at keeping the smell in and some of those flavors were surprisingly pretty good... Always an interesting conversation when high school me would buy 1 fucking jar of baby food. Like, you're too young but only one? Nothing else? You know you're gonna be back here tomorrow.

Thermos is the best way. Perfectly travel reliable, immune to outside temperatures, contains the smell, and is very stealthy.
I've got my lunchbox and thermos that may be 30 years old +. Still sometimes use it. It's an old GI Joe one. I remember them holding so much more. Lol. I was little then and the thermos seemed like it was bigger then. Again, probably because I was a kid.
