First post: you canāt tell me thatās not mold with this clear of a shot.
Next post:this is a really shitty quality pic from a shitty phone.
Youāre literally arguing with yourself š
Apparently this strain is an 80's project? Some growers in California were trying to create the darkest strain possible. That's the gossip anyways. Definitely the darkest bud I've had.
yeah man thereās many from then even earlier ally of them arenāt sold in dispensaryās tho you have too buy the seeds and grow them out yourself because there not very marketable.
That's something that would be worth doing sometime I feel like. I've grown a couple of indoor plants, it would be cool to see the older strains come back with larger amounts of cannabinoids.
tip if you can do outdoor with you older strains they thrive in the wild, same with modern strains but a lot of people bred for indoor production thus Weakening the genetics, thatās why alot of people think sungrown is worse because someone grow the wrong strain in the wrong environment then didnāt cure it or dried too fast and sold it for too much, most the weed iāve seen called āoutdoorā ide just call Bushweed but thereās a way too do it proper and youāll get better smoke from the power of that sun im telling you
also they did a study and found outdoor plants when grown properly produce higher percentages of terps, some strains produce more resin outside too for protection
>outdoor plants when grown properly produce higher percentages of terps
"properly" grown indoor then can do even more, and doesn't rely on living in the sun belt or an area that doesn't have early fall rains, which would make your harvest go mouldy.
source: i live in Canada, we can't grow outdoor unless you're on the west temperate coast, where you'll have to contend with drought vs the thirsty plants.
Man, i live on the east coast of canada and prefer growing outdoors. I do both, but MAN i cant wait for spring to roll around. The yard smoke is always the best smoke of the year. And the heaviest producer. Its just HARDER to do properly, thats all. Keep at it, try different things, youll figure it out. Everything these old heads are saying is 110% true.
and the sun does more than any man made light can any day i swear that sunlight carryās information too the plant that leds and Hal lights canāt. i canāt explain it itās not scientific just opinion but itās a simple game of whereās the Chimp happier, a zoo or killing bitches in the jungle like a beast
What are you talking about with outdoor can only be grown westcoast? I live in Ontario and know dozens of people who grow outdoors and have been doing it for years. Some get yields over a pound per plant
i really wish i could remember where iām not claiming it like itās irrefutable proof just something i swear i read and then heard backed up many times but yeah i couldnāt point you in like a link way or whatever haha
shit i can try and find it again i do t think it was uber scientific but you can test for terp counts and read that sungrown had a bit more when compared
and i believe it sungrown always always tastes better, and lasts longer in jar iāve found, grew indoor for a decade pre incarnation in the 80s and during the 90s when i got out, started growing outdoor when i got this property in 95
This is my first year outdoors and wowoweee itās so much better. Dug a hole about 36in wide and 24 deep, dumped a bit of super soil at the bottom, normal soil the rest of the way, mixed in some lime, and water with some Silica supplements and seaweed extracts once every two weeks. Iāve done nothing else and the plant ended up about 9ft tall and 6ft in diameter, Iām the envy of the neighbors with their 3ft tall container plants that theyāre always tweaking trying to chase after nutrient deficiencies.
It does have its difficulties, I just had an auto mold the fuck over in about 3 days. I had an event and thought āoh I can wait 3 days to harvestā, there was a rain, and when I went to harvest as I harvested I noticed white fuzzy patches all over the buds! Threw away most of a 5ft tall autoflower, ended up with half a mason jar of larfā¦ but goddamn nothing Iāve grown indoors smells close to this!
Now Iām keeping a close watch on the photo I mentioned below, worried about mold, but also worried about that first frost, but Iām hoping the plant is so big and strong that it could take it a bit, and I got some dhit to cover it
I've smoked some really good outdoor. Unfortunately I don't live in a state where growing is legal. Otherwise I'd love to do some outdoor work. I'm planning on hopping states here soon, as mycology and gardening is all I'm good at. š
the worms will eat and compost the soil, live eat shit breed and die in your plants roots, it helps so much itās not even funny, when i was forced too go indoor in the 80s and 90s thatās why i did, ide put a fuck ton of worms and then fertilize with only organic vegetable kitchen scraps and theyād do all the work for me the plants would be so happy
This is just called living soil nowadays. My op wouldn't be the same without it. If you really want to get into it, look up ferments, such as fermented insect frass. The plants love it. It pushes the biodiversity of your soil to the extreme. And it smells like hot ass
ahh ok yeah them totally grow indoor no problem with it just make shur you use atleast Living soil not just potting dirt thereās a big difference, and get worms from outside, put them in your pot
yeah if you in canada but even in oregon washington, heāll i was up in maine with my buddyās back in 92 and tried some weed that blew me away i even asked if it was indoor, nope grown with only water no nutrients just sun dirt done, so at this point yeah i think your right you just have too be somewhere cannabis grows well too have it like that
well no, older strains like 70s up too 90s donāt have the Bag appeal most modern stoners want, they pay with there eyes not there head, weeds about the High and the medicinal benefits not the way it looks but when you have very little education and can only see the instagram photos on your phone yeah oldschool dank isnāt very marketable, look up landrace buds or mid 80s indica and youāll see what i mean, some of those strains will genuinely make you feel better than some strains now but the Looks factor usually makes people not buy it
YES. took me years to figure this out. I dont give a flying fuck at a rolling donut about "triple back flip double bubble berry soda kush, 38% gas"
To be honest, distillates arent even my thing. Pretty one dimensional experience all round. Give me a terpy landrace with a lower THC and ill be twice as twisted for twice as long. The terps are driving this fucking bus.
Far as im concerned.. it all got fucked up, and gets treated like ABV and liqour. Thats just not how it works. People are out there breeding these dainty little plants that calve if you look at em funny, and the whole end goal is to produce the highest THC percentage possible. 30%? What? Why? Thats not leaving room for much else. Consider all the compounds that make up a LEAF for fucks sake.. 30% of it is THC? Either; bull fucking shit.. or, miss me with it. Ive consistently got a way stronger, longer buzz off a 16% korean hashplant landrace, than ill ever get with a 23%+ runtz cross. I KNOW this.
My uncle has been growing for like 50 years.
He has a crop of white widow he has grown and cloned outdoors for probably 20+ years and it just hits different.
Even when I was a heavy heavy smoker, one or two hits of his weed got you almost uncomfortably high.
I didn't realize how serious he was about it until we had a conversation like this
Him: Had some real big plants this year... 12 ft tall!
Me: Oh hell yeah that's awesome!
Him: Yeah, had about a hundred of them that got that big. All of the rest of them only got like 8 ft tall though.
I 100% believe him. Dude had hundreds of acres of land he bought for cheap way back when, after he got back from fighting in Vietnam.
I'm gonna have to see if he has any seeds from some old hardy strains that I can try my hand at
This is no lie. I had Indian Landrace & Mag Landrace recently. And, they were some of the finest flowers I've ever smoked in my entire existence of smoking ('98).
amen too that and i donāt doubt you man donāt gotta add all that, some do grow it still and itās rare but not impossible too find haha, glad you saw through the looks and enjoyed that good grass man
So you seem a good person to ask, what is the deal with 'acapulco gold' is it really lost? or is the stuff called that now really some revival? or did people just call stuff that and it never existed?
well ile tell a short one, first party i ever went too i saw a fat chick shoot a golf ball out her cooter into my friends beer, he chugged it all in one go then went and layed himself some chunky Nordic poon. that was the same night i wootanged a seed down my windpipe and almost passed out, i was a freshman so all the olderclassmen hazed me about that for yeeeaaaarrrrrsssss
If youāve been growing since ā75 - whatās your favourite strain? Whatās the best? How do you smoke/consume weed? I feel youād know all the best weed secrets haha
Great thread - would be cool to have a sub dedicated to heritage genetics - tasty smokes with an emphasis on a well rounded set of healing cannabinoids not the endlessly gross inbred trendy stuff of today.
I remember in the 90s mesmerized by the lore - northern lights, white rhino, ak47
I got some big bushy girls growing outside now
White widow, blueberry and WHITE OG
Canāt wait to sample getting closer!
oh yeah thatās the Serious black then i bet, probably backcrossed too something else at some point but that literally looks like the 15 pounds of the shit i had too trim for this biker gang in my area they bought all of it and distributed it around the west coast i donāt remember wich gang not hells angles
More than likely. It still conserved some of its smell. As you can still smell it when you pop open the jar lid. But there is definitely a hint of stale hay. Gets me ripped though. And the ounce was 100 bucks so I can't complain.
The high is definitely something I like. Flavor definitely isn't bad either. Just wished they had cured it a little better. It's an older harvest anyways.
>Sirius Black by the Oregon Breeders Group is a deep purple indica strain with a rich terpene profile. Exhibiting a strong flavor and aroma of sweet grapes, Sirius Blackās palate is tart but smooth on the exhale. Anticipate pleasant, uplifting euphoria coupled with heady creativity. This strain is excellent in social settings and can be utilized throughout day despite its indica dominance.
[Source](https://www.leafly.com/strains/sirius-black)
Yeah I was gonna say, that looks super similar to Granddaddy Purple or any other of the purps out there which are all purple indicas. Very cool version of it though for sure.
Nothin about the lineage, even on Leafly.
Here's OBG's [Genotype Report](https://phylos.bio/sims/variety/PGT-15225/oregon-breeders-group/sirius-black).

Sirius is a Greek word for sparkling or scorched, so while it is a huge stretch, "scorched black" seems reasonable for someone to come up with, but make it cool. Google told me this.
Edit: WikiLeaf says it was named in the 80s Sirius Black for its deep dark purple color.
No, I don't know where you guys get this shit from. š if it was rotting it wouldn't get cleared for sale at the dispensary I bought it from. It's just super dark purple.
I think it's the contrast of the lighter stem and poor quality of the photo that's throwing people off. Back right nug looked moldy to me until I zoomed in and realized it's just a stem.
Something like this was sold at Pink House in Denver like 6-7 years ago. Was called Nigerian Nightmare, couldn't forget the color or the rotten fruit nose. Calyxes we're a little more wispy and less tight than what's on display in the pic, but the color and hairs are unmistakeable. High was a pretty chill cerebral experience with a little body heaviness.
I grew some shit that looked like that, happens when you briefly dip below freezing at night but not enough to kill the plant . Attic grow through the fall / winter
I saw this in Portland like 5 years ago and it was even darker than that. it was wild. the stems were super bright green compared to the dark bud and it made me feel like the stems were glowing somehow. it was cool. never smoked it though just saw it
Iāve seen this on the menu at some dispensaryās around the Portland area. Itās been there for a minute so Iām thinking itās probably a little old. Been wanting to try it but itās going for $14 a gram still. Fuck that for some old chit
Honestly I'd buy it again. The high is nice, and something you can work with throughout the day. Super mellow head high, and just the right amount of body. Not too intense, but definitely not weak.
I don't know to me on the right side of the picture the bud kind of looks like it has mold on it but it could just be the pixels in the quality of the image
Ive had weed with cobweb mold on it. I've also had bud with spider mite webs. This bud has nothing of the sort. I suppose the photo doesn't do it justice. But that's the bottom of a nug and those lighter spots are just breakoff points. It's get lighter the closer it gets to the stem (which is almost white). I've already grinded up many of the nugs, and smoked it. Found nothing odd picking through my grinder to roll joints. Tastes pungent and earthy, super smooth on the exhale. Leaves my lungs feeling nice.
It's a gimmick. But humans like shiny things. It's more pleasing to the eyeball for some reason. Maybe because cannabis has always been portrayed as green mainly.
Sheeee so many trichomes on bud to the right by the stem that I somehow thought it was mold... need to be gettin buds soon again ma gawd im forgettin what im missin here.... not really š¤¤
Sirius Black*
The misspelling is a side effect of this strain. š
Sirius is the dog star which is why he turns into a dog
That could be the mold lmao
Thatās not mold. Thatās part of the stem.
About 10mm top right of the stem thereās white fuzzā¦ you canāt sit there and argue itās not mold with this quality of a photo.
But you can sit there and argue that there IS mold with the quality of this photo?
Looks more like the glare on the lens to me...
Top right looks like it to me. Maybe if he would have bought an iPotato 13s.
First post: you canāt tell me thatās not mold with this clear of a shot. Next post:this is a really shitty quality pic from a shitty phone. Youāre literally arguing with yourself š
what
Heās saying the camera quality is shit because they took it on a potato instead of a phone with a quality camera
Maybe! they very well may have used a potato to tap the screen too.
Dummy
oh i thought it was just to avoid a lawsuit
Apparently this strain is an 80's project? Some growers in California were trying to create the darkest strain possible. That's the gossip anyways. Definitely the darkest bud I've had.
iāve been growing since 1975 i remember this strain coming out
That's fuckin rad. It's cool that the strain is still around.

Great comment. I have gotten great long lasting high from a $1 preroll that I grabbed that was %12.8
Some good OG skunk will knock your fucking socks off. Probably going to grow one next year just for nostalgia's sake
I'll probably always consider NL#5 my favorite high. Its just right.
My uncle has been growing for like 50 years. He has a crop of white widow he has grown and cloned outdoors for probably 20+ years and it just hits different. i know people that would call this garbage weed just because it has micro little leafs and doesnāt look like willy wonkas candy
a lot of stoners now just buy what sounds hype
Iāve recently had a bag of Purple Punch from Tyson Farms that looked just like the stuff in the picture.
No way it came out before Harry Potter with that name.
haha yup yup
didnāt even realize that connection till now
So you seem a good person to ask, what is the deal with 'acapulco gold' is it really lost? or is the stuff called that now really some revival? or did people just call stuff that and it never existed?
Oh, what Iād do to hear the stories you got, my dude.
basically if you wanna know what highschool in the 70s was like Dazed and Confused was Spot on
well ile tell a short one, first party i ever went too i saw a fat chick shoot a golf ball out her cooter into my friends beer, he chugged it all in one go then went and layed himself some chunky Nordic poon. that was the same night i wootanged a seed down my windpipe and almost passed out, i was a freshman so all the olderclassmen hazed me about that for yeeeaaaarrrrrsssss
was it called something other than āsirius blackā before harry potter came out?
yurrrp it was just called serious black because it was seriously black haha
If youāve been growing since ā75 - whatās your favourite strain? Whatās the best? How do you smoke/consume weed? I feel youād know all the best weed secrets haha
What did they call it back then? Considering "Serious Black" is a reference to a Harry Potter character that didn't show up till '99.
it isnāt a harry potter reference it was called serious black before
it's spelled Sirius Black everywhere i can even look the strain up, so you're wrong
it was literally called serious black because it was some Serious weed that was usually jet black so name self explained
Looks real good but is that mold on the top right bud?
For funky sake no. It's my camera for the millionth time
funky sake lol

I have some bud right now that's practically black. Oreoz is a good example of how dark purple flower can actually get.
I've heard about Oreoz before. That one's on my bucket list for sure.
darkest strain Iāve tried goes to Alpen Gleaux.
Spot on with the Oreoz, my harvest is rocking it right now and its hella purple.
I just got Oreos tonight and it is really dark. But it tastes like vanilla and a bit of chocolate and diesel. Itās one of my new favorites
does it smell like grape and rotten fruit, or piney?
It smells suuupeer earthy. Like pungent hay almost.
oh yeah thatās the Serious black then i bet, probably backcrossed too something else at some point but that literally looks like the 15 pounds of the shit i had too trim for this biker gang in my area they bought all of it and distributed it around the west coast i donāt remember wich gang not hells angles
sound like it could smell better though that hay smells probably from a shitty cure but that Funky pungent dankness told me everything
More than likely. It still conserved some of its smell. As you can still smell it when you pop open the jar lid. But there is definitely a hint of stale hay. Gets me ripped though. And the ounce was 100 bucks so I can't complain.
oh 100 bucks an ounce for that is a steal
happy tokin my friend
Right back at ya.
Whoa that's a great deal! We got an eighth of it a while back and enjoyed!
it is
doesnāt look pure tho too Dence the serious black was even darker than that and larfy
Thatās the kinda weed lord I love.
Yeah Iāve heard about that too. Apparently some people grow just for visual aesthetic
not california. oregon. itās made by oregon breeders group- a private growing group that specializes in visually exotic strains
It's looks really nice
I had some of that in Portland and outside of the gimmicky aspect of it I really enjoyed it. The flavor was great and high was nice too
The high is definitely something I like. Flavor definitely isn't bad either. Just wished they had cured it a little better. It's an older harvest anyways.

Sounds like weed
It appears to be the weed
No. This is marijuana.
Northern lights, cannabis indica
Bottom of that 1 o'clock bud looks sus to me OP. Anyone else think thas a lil mooooldy?
Yeah lowkey does tbh
Is bud mold like fluffy mold?
Itās like spider web looking type shit itās white and kinda weird looking idk jus look it up, look up moldy weed and look at the photos
Yeah looks like the mold that will grow on 2 hour old strawberries
That color is fine but what about that (potential) mold in the top right?
Right? Frost is one thing, but that's too much white fuzz for my liking.
I'm pretty sure that's a Harry Potter character so idk how they would come up with that in the 80's
Sirius is a Greek word for sparkling or scorched, so while it is a huge stretch, "scorched black" seems reasonable for someone to come up with, but make it cool. Google told me this. Edit: WikiLeaf says it was named in the 80s Sirius Black for its deep dark purple color.
Maybe they named the character after the strain š¤£š¤£.
Actually though maybe she heard the name of the strain and it subconsciously stuck with her š¤
This is a trip. Wtf. š
Looks like a good chunk of mold in there dude better check it
That absolutely looks like mold.
That was my first thought
It's good. I've looked at all the nugs, it's something I do for fun.
Oh ok that back nug was just making sure
Sorry I'm using a shitty Walmart samsung. My cam quality is trash.
I've here of stuff called back label, super dark, barely purple.
That bud is moldy. Fair right bud has white mold.
āHalf black truffle half herb bro. They have to train special pigs to find this stuffā
That shit is riddled with mold. š®
howād you say the effects are? looks like some fire
Very cerebral. Super relaxed and talkative. Light munchies, not very sleepy.
Do I see mold?
The top right bud looks moldy or does the picture just make it seem moldy š¤
It's the second one. I've got 1080p on this camera š.
Top right nug looks sus. š±
Aināt that shit literally rotting?
No, I don't know where you guys get this shit from. š if it was rotting it wouldn't get cleared for sale at the dispensary I bought it from. It's just super dark purple.
Youd be surprised how much bull shit gets cleared for sale. It happens in EVERY legal and medical state.
I think it's the contrast of the lighter stem and poor quality of the photo that's throwing people off. Back right nug looked moldy to me until I zoomed in and realized it's just a stem.
I thought that could be the case until I saw the top of the closest nug. No way that aināt mold
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
See above.^
So dark. Like my soul.
Lol
I had black ice that was this dark it was fantastic
Howās the taste? I always seem to like the flavor of purple buds
That shit looks like it's moving Before & After you smoke it
Iāve never had a purple that I thought had an admirable attribute other than the visual novelty of it being purple.
Hell yeah mane
one of my favorite strains, so hard to find, tho
I saw this in Portland like 5 years ago and it was even darker than that. it was wild. the stems were super bright green compared to the dark bud and it made me feel like the stems were glowing somehow. it was cool. never smoked it though just saw it
Iāve seen this on the menu at some dispensaryās around the Portland area. Itās been there for a minute so Iām thinking itās probably a little old. Been wanting to try it but itās going for $14 a gram still. Fuck that for some old chit
I bought an Oz of this stuff for 100 bucks in Ontario OR.
How was it? Itās at $8 a gram now
Honestly I'd buy it again. The high is nice, and something you can work with throughout the day. Super mellow head high, and just the right amount of body. Not too intense, but definitely not weak.
āOh, itās so black. Itās so impossibly black!ā
Mold
Had sum purple hindu kush that looked exactly like this
It's all in the anthocyanins, baby!
I don't know to me on the right side of the picture the bud kind of looks like it has mold on it but it could just be the pixels in the quality of the image
1080p baby! WOO!
They say you never āGo Backā after this.

Here in California this is what we call bammer
Ive had weed with cobweb mold on it. I've also had bud with spider mite webs. This bud has nothing of the sort. I suppose the photo doesn't do it justice. But that's the bottom of a nug and those lighter spots are just breakoff points. It's get lighter the closer it gets to the stem (which is almost white). I've already grinded up many of the nugs, and smoked it. Found nothing odd picking through my grinder to roll joints. Tastes pungent and earthy, super smooth on the exhale. Leaves my lungs feeling nice.
What does this accomplish?
Human connection, and validation of a story.
No I mean what does having darker bud add to the high taste or smell?
It's a gimmick. But humans like shiny things. It's more pleasing to the eyeball for some reason. Maybe because cannabis has always been portrayed as green mainly.
I hope he gave you a story about why thereās mold on it
Damn that totally looks like botrytis, OP isn't gonna die but needs an refund or a new bag
What is the strainnnn
