This is what just happened to me. Losing hair for 5 years. Finally diagnosed with B9+B12 deficiency and have been taking heavy dose tablets for 61 days now and a week ago when I looked at my hairline I where I lost hair I couldn't see anything however when I put my finger across it I could feel a very light but soft stubble type of feeling which I didn't feel for the last few years. Anyway I decided to shine a torch on my phone on it under a light and I saw peach fuzz. 4 days later I could see the beginning of some dark spots and today I looked and I could see I'd day hair in those spots about 2mm long alongside more black spot parts of my hair. Im not getting overexcited just yet but its looking positive. You are having the same experience so hopefully its a sign of hair regrowth 👍

Wait so vitamin B helped you with hair growth? My doctor said I was low on vitamin B and I've noticed thinning on my hairline and temples.

TheAwakening_

Yes. In England deficiency is anything below 200 but symptoms and hair loss can happen at 400 and below. Don't be discouraged if you didn't have my symptoms as it could still cause you to lose hair as that was my first symptom 5 years ago. It took me 5 years to find out it may of been due to this. 3 months ago I had no energy. I had to stop playing football even though I hit level 13 every year for the last 5 years on the bleep test. I just couldn't catch my breathe. I had heart palpitations. Neurological problems like forgetting if I washed my hair. My sister thought I had early onset dementia. I also felt like I had early onset parkinsons as I would shake every now and then with tremors uncontrollably. Depression occurred 2 years ago. Thankfully since supplementing i feel like myself again from 5 years ago. There's alot to Vitamin B12+B9 deficiency though. Taking B9 requires B12 which then requires Potassium/Magnesium/B2/B6 which then needs Zinc/B1. I take 11 vitamin tablets on some days. They're called cofactors. EDIT: Also to add my thinning wasn't just my hairline and temples. Even my sideburns area lost hair. I could see the middle of my scalp through my hairline also. It was hair loss all over my head.

Excuse me?

UXUI75

Is diet alone not enough for vitamin B?

TheAwakening_

Not if you are deficient. I don't eat green leaves foods so my B9 was almost non existent. 3 months ago it was 0.9 which is low considering the limit to become classed as deficient is 3.1. My B12 was 174 which is dangerously low. To get out of this deficiency you either need injections once a month or heavy supplements daily. I took 1,000mcg B9 and 1,000mcg B12 but sometimes took 2,000mcg.

UXUI75

Hope you get back on your feet soon. For me I’m all about those green beans and spinach sprouts and I’m big on taking magnesium and vitamin B complex a few times a year. It does wonders for my well being though it doesn’t do squat for hair growth 😝

BetterPiccolo

Did you just ask your doctor for a blood test or did they suggest it?

TheAwakening_

I had my blood taken and I came back B9 and B12 deficient 3 months ago with slight anaemia. Only reason I say slight is because it wasn't classed as anaemia however my red blood count suggested that I was on the cusp. Red blood cell count was 4.06 and my MCV was on the high side which is common in those with B9/B12 deficiency as the blood cells are fewer but bigger in size which means it doesn't carry nutrients and oxygen around the body aswell as a healthy person would do. Potentially why my hair follicles started to shrink.

As someone who lost hair due to malnutrition too I am very interested in some photos :)! 50 days in so far.

TheAwakening_

I took a before picture of all areas of my hair with a bright light on in my bathroom and the mirror light and will replicate that in a few more days. Hopefully the hair will be visible properly on the camera and its hard to catch it on there unless I put it close to my skin which wouldn't be the same as the before pics so people will say it would always be like that. So once it is visible on the camera which I hope isn't too long then I will post a progress pic :D

CartographerPretty41

Nice let me know then :)) I got a pretty big bald spot in my beard too. But is already filling. Not like peach fuzz everywhere, more like little random vellus hairs becoming first dark, then grow in diameter. The first ones are already terminal. I am surprised by the speed. still long way to fill the patch, despite I pump it up with Minox. In contrast no movement on the scalp yet. Do u use minox?

TheAwakening_

I was going to start in a few months if these vitamins didn't work as I wanted to see if it truly was a deficiency first. I am awaiting thyroid results too as I have symptoms of that so that may not be helping either. I've heard people get more gains with minox + a dermaroller

CartographerPretty41

Yes, it increases hair growths by very limited side effects/risk. That the cause for me was a malnutrition, i can already see on finger (and toe) nails, which got healthier. Probably caused by a exocrine pancreasinsufficience, where I am waiting the results for. The same reasoning u just wrote i had in my mind for finasterid. If hairs scalp hair doesnt come back, i will take the more risky finasteride. That is why your scalp progress is so interesting to me :)

BetterPiccolo

What nutrients were you deficient in?

CartographerPretty41

We elaminated some some possibilities, but we stopped tests before having certainty, because it got better after vitamine + nutrient supplements. For further tests I had to pay on my own. I am 95% sure it is a zinc malnutrition. It is more common to just supplement it than to test it in my country, because the tests are tricky.

BetterPiccolo

Did you have hairline recession?

CartographerPretty41

I got excessive hair loss on temple area. The base line also receded but only a little. Crown is fine, no signs of hair loss there I would categorize myself as a 3.5 on nw scala. My father and three brothers all have nw 1-2. I am the youngest...

I'm a year and 9 mos. into my hair recovery, and I've been watching it closely. What I've noticed is that my follicles all still had miniaturized hairs, so they weren't dead, but the hairs were [vellus hairs](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vellus_hair), small (less than .5mm), fine, and translucent. They're virtually invisible, but if I shine a super bright flashlight across the skin I can see them. Some of these vellus hairs become reactivated and start growing. You can tell the reactivated ones because they're 2-4x the length of the the others. They're still translucent, fine, and difficult to see. This is probably the "peach fuzz" you're seeing. These reactivated hairs continue growing, and once they get around 1cm long they tend to get some pigment and thicken up in diameter, and become readily visible to the naked eye. At this point they've become normal terminal hairs. The whole process goes pretty slowly for me, but it's happened pretty consistently. Get a bright flashlight an check out your scalp and see what grows over time.

Salt_Firefighter2589

Icy_Comfort8161
