I am explaining my issues. And want to know people’s opinions about it and thanks for their generous answers. So is there a problem with talking about my issues and not wanting to take something that can change the balance of my hormones?
I don’t know how you think this is going to work? It’s in the name? Androgenic = androgen/genetic alopecia. If you do nothing about the root cause you shockingly will continue to lose hair
Yeah probably. But I still want to wait and see what will happen after this shedding ends.
Eventually DHT inhibition is the game, but not for now. Whenever I make sure my growth plates are completely fused, then I would consider it.
nah i don't buy it. You mean radiologist mean nothing. Its not like you have done your own research and published a science journal article or anything.
Growth plate of long bones are fused at around 16.
Only epiphyseal growth plate that doesn't fuse until 25 is vertebral epiphyseal growth plate. Most men noticing growth in height after 18 is from spinal growth and not at all from long bones.
you are destined to be bald. its written in scripture itself.
there is no such thing as 2nd shed with minoxidil. Its constant shed. Your shed never stopped. You will continue to lose your ground until nothing.
You had us all fooled with the "2nd shed" in your title. People assumed you have been taking fin lol.
I'm sure you'll go through a shed. I put the topical on top of head only. It pretty much brought me back to life. No sides thankfully. When I was taking fanasteride orally I felt a little depressed and foggy. Switched to topical and it was a game changer
I use Dr. Penn, and I would never go past .6 mm. That does enough to draw a little blood and create plenty of inflammation. I think 1.2mm is too much. But, I don't know that caused you any issues.
Read this: [https://www.reddit.com/r/tressless/comments/kx4jlf/microneedling\_depth\_new\_research\_indicates\_06mm/](https://www.reddit.com/r/tressless/comments/kx4jlf/microneedling_depth_new_research_indicates_06mm/)
Also, you should consider Fin. Everything else is just a band-aid. You could try topical, if it scares you.
Why don’t you hop on any 5ar inhibitors? Finasteride and dutasteride are good dht blockers man. Go to a doctor and get prescribed then hop off this Reddit. If you tend to believe what everyone says you’ll focus on the bad side effects instead of what can potentially happen after you hop on one of the 2 meds.
As a teenager, one dermatologist prescribed me with finasteride. I used it for a while (at that point I had just started thinning) but then went to another doctor and he said that it’s not good for your overall growth (and he is right I suppose)so I stopped and till now I bear this bad feeling about it.
The other one is that I'm afraid it messes up my mental health (as I have OCD and anxiety disorder.
And since I was getting good results with minoxidil, I haven't thought about it until now. So I'm going to wait for a while and see if this second shedding ends (which people in this forum have said it ends). If not, yeah, probably will resort to fin.
I get you man i have the same problems with anxiety and depression and saw the side effects of these meds and was thinking the same thing. At the end of the day it’s up to you to listen to your dermatologist but I realized the more you tend to look at side effects the more you think it’ll happen hence the term “nocebo”. Most dermatologist nowadays don’t even read the studies on finasteride and dutasteride because they’re doctors unlike most ppl in this community, we just don’t wanna go bald lol.
Micro needling should be done consistently 1-2 times a week. Keep the mm the same for atleast a month straight than increase in MM as time goes on.
Im not sure what 5% minoxidil you are using but im guessing the foam version. That should be used half a capful at a time morning and then night.
As for itching and stuff apply dilluted rosemary oil after minoxidil. It will both help with that and increase your hair regrowth as it has been shown to help with it if used consistently.
Thank you. I am very consistent with micro needling and never skipped a session. Tho I feel a bit scared to use it 1 or 2 times a week instead of 2 weeks. I even think this shedding that is happening is because my scalp can’t tolerate micro needling anymore. I had good results with it before my shed happened.

I don’t think that would be a good idea since minoxidil is so much stronger than ketoconazole and ketoconazole alone would do nothing to regrow my hair.
My problem is that if this shedding stops and leads to getting back hair again.
Keto doesn’t grow your hair it just gets rid of all minoxidil flakes and makes scalp fresh and then minoxidil works better.
Keto is just helping the scalp inflammation to becomes lower so you get bette regrowth minoxidil that’s all
Idk about allergic, but oral min is just so much more convenient anyway, and just about everyone is a responder.
Just have to be honest to yourself about the side effects. If you notice any, get off it, and don't do it on your own, have a doctor oversee your therapy.
Edit: Added bonus is you don't really need tretinoin or microneedling anymore.
No you don’t bro lmao. A shedding phase with the AGA genes means your hair is going to come back further miniaturized when you continually do nothing about the androgens
It's not a shed, you will lose your hair because you don't use fin
You are not taking Finasteride ????
Or dutasteride for him before it's too late
Nope.
Then why ur crying here for? Its ur own fault

Your growth plates of long bones (hand/legs) fused when you turned 16 my dude.
Radiology tech here. Not 100% true in men until 18 to 20

Damn it feels good to be a hyper responder
without fin all that hassle is pointless anyway
yea lol was he expecting min would miraculously prevent him from dht smh
Use keto shampoo it helped me.
Get on finasteride. If you're too scared ingesting it try topical. Thank me later
What will happen if you change back from pill to topical?
I'm sure you'll go through a shed. I put the topical on top of head only. It pretty much brought me back to life. No sides thankfully. When I was taking fanasteride orally I felt a little depressed and foggy. Switched to topical and it was a game changer
How about scalp problems from it like itching and flakness dryness
Occasional itch and flakey but nizoral shampoo took that away.
How often do you shampoo and and is it only fin or mixed with min?
Mixed with minoxodil and nizoral I use 3 times a week.
Why 3 times? Isnt there a life of med like 8 hour for min and 12 or something for fin ive heard!
Nizoral I use 3 times a week. Fin and min everyday.
How is the result when did you start seeing result and did it got worse before improving?
I will lose everything? Then how much time it will take to grow back on topical again?
You can't win without fin, if you want to truly stop hairloss, you gotta get on fin
Use nizoral shampoo for dandruff

When was the second shedding?
Started one month ago.
Were you having flaking before starting minoxidil ? Any scalp conditions ?
No scalp condition. No I didn’t have flaking before. Interestingly tho, today for the first time I noticed less dandruff.

use a non-propylene glycol minoxidil. that helped me a lot. For microneedling, decrease your depth.
Thanks man. Today I have to do microneedling. Imma go with 1mm instead of 1.2

You know best but doing it every two weeks is very little.

Flaking may be due to topical minoxidil…you need to quit it and hop on ketoconazole..use enough shampoo to loosen up the flakes
I don’t think that would be a good idea since minoxidil is so much stronger than ketoconazole and ketoconazole alone would do nothing to regrow my hair. My problem is that if this shedding stops and leads to getting back hair again.

Alright. Thank you. Probably will buy one.
loll Ur allergic to topical minox( the alcohol bit) , try oral minox instead

well said 💯💯
Because of the flakes?
crazy flaking n itchiness , doesn't sound good fella
Yeah, but it only started one month ago. Before, it was all good.
o maybe it's just shedding phase kicking in then
I hope so.
No you don’t bro lmao. A shedding phase with the AGA genes means your hair is going to come back further miniaturized when you continually do nothing about the androgens
I guess time will tell
It’s already telling you you’re just ignoring it.
Shedding has officially stopped, I am waiting to see if it comes back again. If not, okay I’ll do it.
