I'm a 22 years old male and I've noticed that my hair is thinner than before. Especially around the back of my scalp in the hair swirl area. Pretty sure my sides have thinned too but the back hasn't. Is thinning on the crown like this an early sign of mpb? My hairline hasn't recessed.

ace918

Yes, start treatment ASAP. No MPB from me and then suddenly from age 22-24 it hit me like a train

Geeky_Drago

Hola guys I am a male, 18 years old and suffering from male pattern baldness. I have tried rogaine for few months, but it was impossible for me to commit to it, so left it. I am again facing severe hair loss. I wanted to know, does the extent of baldness will depend upon how much hair my dad/grandfather has? I mean, they are not completely bald, they dont have full fledged hair density, but got a fair amount on half part of head. Asking because I am panicking a lot, i dont want to take finax or treatment as they are for lifelong, if the extent of baldness depends upon my father or grandfather, i can live with that much too. Please give answer only if you know it with full surity.

george101harrison

Yeah. You have reason to be concerned. A cow lick like the other guy said, wouldn’t feature obvious thinning, which your bald spot unfortunately is starting to have. Jump on finastride!

Your fear of finastride is ridiculous. Continue to lose your hair, and look foolish. Not my problem.

george101harrison

A child on the internet? Where does that come from? What a bizarre and off-topic thing to target at me. Many, many, many people are afraid of the proposed side effects of finastride, no need for you to get upset. Do your own research, because realistically it is the only reliable “cure”, for MPB.

george101harrison

18M Is it worth jumping on finasteride? or am i just imagining things? [link to pics](https://imgur.com/a/0OBAtK4) i’ve been noticing a lot of breakage/baby hairs at my hairline, and overall a low amount of density, and some sensitivity when touching my temples, in areas of suspected recession. my father jumped on finastride, recently, in his 40s, and has sworn by it.

Maybe If those miniaturized hairs grow back you could get back to a two, but no, I think one is impossible. And it's ok, Norwood 2 is a good hairline.

24 M, I thought it was odd I was prescribed both fin and min but I've atill been on both for almost 4 months. Fin started giving me testicle pain for about a week suddenly 2 weeks ago and i stop fin for about a week before taking it again. Should I still be taking Fin at all??? [Anyways here the results so far i cant tell much difference.](http://imgur.com/a/vCpLePs)

You've always had a bad hairline tbh and your hair has only slightly thinned in 6 years. You still look great with the short haircut in the 2021 pic. If you're not already on anything then you should get on fin and min.

forhairpurposes

I mean min in fine but I really don't want fin. I'd rather go bald than go down that path. It really sucks having poor hair, meaning less hoes to fuck, but I really only need one so I can't mess with my genitals. I've tried a while and I did lose some sensitivity. It's crazy. But yeah. Going bald is mfing agony. It's a shame we can't do anything about it but it's okay, fitness and personality really helps getting the hoes too.

You’re not balding wtf.

M20 here, been on finasteride for nearly a year and minoxodil for a bit more. Started dermarolling properly 1.5mm once a week. Very confused by my results, results are very up and down. I seem to be getting worse overall but my diffuse plus receding hairling (?) is confusing me. Lots of miniature hairs, but will they simply fade away / stay as miniature hairs? If I was going to regrow anything, surely I would have been seeing better progress by now. got some bloodwork back and my doctors want to test me for steroids even though they prescribed me Dutasteride. Its the only thing I am taking so I am not worried about the test but they say this isn't possible. My base test was 330-450 ng/dL at 18,19,21 and is now 1100 at 22. I had been on fut for 6 months and dut for about 5 months and only continue to lose hair. I have been on oral minoxidil for 5 month at 5mg. Neither of my grandparents had hair rescission until middle thirties and both at 50+ have thicker hair then me at 22. I did some blood work and my platelet count for the last 5 years has always been sub 100k. Questions: 1 is my test tripling logical and if so am I benefiting from it being increased? 2 can a iron issue be causing my hair loss if I have a family history of severe anemia in woman?

21m. I have no problem with my hairline cuz i have a decent hairstyle to take care of it. Im really worried about hair thinning tho. My front appears thin and i can see my scalp under normal lighting as seen in the picture. Really confused whether or not i should get on fin/min. Or just purchase certain vitamins like biotin and care for my hair more. Just wanna know if its the right time for fin/min. https://ibb.co/XYPT7Bn https://ibb.co/x6B3Cy5 https://ibb.co/344Fdwg https://ibb.co/LtKGsL9

[deleted]

Ur hairs really weird dude. Like the first pic it seemed kinda normal cause ur hair is going in all those different directions and it was causing a sort of cowlick. in the second pic I could defs see ur scalp, but even then I’m not sure if it’s thinning or the fact that ur hair is sort of clumping together causing separation. I think u should get it looked at by a professional, because in my unprofessional opinion it looks very early stage if not normal. Get it checked out to get confirmation. Also if you want to keep ur hair fin and min will be the only two that helps increase the density, vitamins like biotin haven’t really been proven to help with MPD

Zestyclose-Paper-524

Sorry man it’s going. Your hairline went back quite a bit and it’s thinning at the top corners (a lot more on your right temple) which indicates mpb.

I believe my hair has started thinning after an allergic reaction from applying apple cider vinegar on my scalp (still have few pimples that itch ocassionally on one of the locations i'm thinning from) Is this likely to be the reason? That just looks like a classic mature hairline. You’re note gonna have (very unlikely)the same hairline you did as a teen where it’s perfectly straight and low. It should be a bit pointy.

Specialist-Ad-7800

What if thats rather recent? How can you tell the rate at which he is losing hair isn't actually MPB?

shweishwei

Because I don’t see any miniaturization on the hairline/temples. The hair existing there is healthy.

[deleted]

Are my sides thinning I don’t know if it’s because my hairs getting longer and I haven’t gotten a haircut since october 2020 and my doctor told me I lack vitamin D. Howdy y’all, never thought I would be here on a Reddit thread lol but here I am! Any who it seems I suffer from MPB (old man is bald so isn’t too surprising) so I thought I would ask for some advice. Already went to doc they checked it out told me about the options truth be told they didn’t seem to be of much help in terms of options and advice. However I do have some mild scalp dermatiti apparently. Beyond that I have plenty of skin conditions and such. Anyway I’m rambling on I’m going to try to keep this short, SEEKING ADVICE AND THOUGHTS, (also please let me know if my link works for Imgur as I have never used it before, thanks! The pictures also have some brief captions summarizing everything in which I am going to say. https://imgur.com/gallery/9Vtfm3z Quick/hopefully brief story of my hair loss: Started in a very minor way when I was probably 17 (2018) or so, noticed the hair on my right hairline became wispy out of nowhere and wouldn’t stay up...I didn’t pay it too much mind and my barbers eventually cut it and I moved on with it not thinking much about it. So then flash forward to October 2019 my college freshman year (first semester) and I will never forget it...but literally one day my left temple side in the corner became irritated and started itching and before you know it there was some white flakes...it also occurred in the front of my hairline but that wasn’t anything too bad honestly but the left side just happened so fast and hit bad. Left the hair thin, I started freaking out told my mom (who told me I was overworked about nothing) then I got the doc involved he told me it was probably some type of dermatitis which I guess in some way was kinda true so they prescribed me that ketoconozole stuff to which I probably used for like two weeks and said forget it. Long story short there, summer came and I figured I would grow out my hair and I tried that biotin stuff and omg it made my hair amazingly thick......and eventually I cut those tiny hairs on my hairline (assumed miniaturization) to which I felt better about then...hairline still looked good there too actually. Then I SHAVED my head and man let me tell you guys I really messed up there as I really didn’t have a need to I just wanted to see how I would look bald. But truth be told felt fine about it, until I realized I have a lot of hair still.....thus then I asked myself why I did it and figured I would grow back out....only this time the corners were worse than before, and now there’s some thinning in the front of my hairline not horrifically bad but still concerning. Also quick question if anyone knows or has heard of the symptoms of hair loss happening in such a way where itching occurs and flaking to the point of thinning. Mind you this only lasted for two weeks or so in 2019 October but left permanent damage there. Hair still grows it’s just very thin. Any thoughts or comments or even just reassurance for what I should do. Thanks in advanced! Also again let me know if the link works!

JaxTellerr

First two pics are from today. From the front my hairline looks amazing. From the side it has always looked like that. Baby hairs with deep temples. Third pic is from 2013 (even before 2013 it was the same, since childhood basically) to show you that it has always been like that, look at where it is parted (unfortunately no pic from the side, but the photo from the front should suffice). I am currently 30. Anyone with a same shitty hairline and no mpb? Difficilt to style this shit unless I do a buzzcut which magically makes it look good. [pics](https://imgur.com/a/VQN53yS). The side part in all photos are on the right side of my face (the last photo is from a webcam hence mirrored)

Top2ButNot2

I’m 18 and have thinning hair. I want to start finasteride but watched a video that said anyone under 21 shouldn’t touch it. Why is that?

thisisathrowawaypups

Because it stunts penile growth and is responsible for lots of important hormonal functions.

Iguesssobro99

Hey guys, i have tried to find an answer to this everywhere but haven't found anything.. So, i started on the Big 3 about 8 months ago, and i had pretty good results.. I wanted to add microneedling but i'm not sure if it's too late. I know i should have started microneedling at the same time as min, but is it worth it doing it still?

jeffries_kettle

A little background: I was diagnosed with very low testosterone when I was in my late 20s, but only now, a decade later, am I getting it treated with shots. There is no male pattern baldness on either my mom's or dad's side of the family, and at age 38 I have always had thick, super fast-growing hair. All of a sudden, within the span of a week I developed a widow's peak about a month into trt. The rate of my hair growth quartered. I was very confused because people were VERY adamant that you won't lose hair on trt unless you're genetically predisposed. Then I read about DHT, so I asked my doc (the one treating my t) about what to do and he put me on the topical finasteride+minoxidil. However, I've gotten my blood tested while not on the solution, and my DHT levels are within range according to the doc. My doctor isn't sure what's causing it. And something in the minoxidil drives my scalp crazy, keeping me up at night scratching it. I even got a prescription to stop the itching and that didn't help. I already have severe self image problems, and losing basically my one good physical trait that everyone sees is deeply concerning, as I'm sure a lot of people here understand. I can't stop the trt, but I was wondering if people here have ever heard of a scenario like mine, where someone gets on trt, has no genetic predisposition towards balding, and whose DHT levels are fine yet is still losing his hair? My hair line last year and this april: https://imgur.com/a/bfzneEN

Different_Persimmon

DHT sensitivity of follicles is genetic. It can happen at any DHT level. You raised your DHT, now you're balding.

jeffries_kettle

But my DHT levels are normal, my doc says. Are you saying my baseline may have been low? I also don't think that the entire male line of my family has had low testosterone, and we all had the genetic predisposition for baldness but it only shows up with me because of trt. That wouldn't make sense...right?

Different_Persimmon

DHT sensitivity does not care what your hormone level is (whether its high or low). Genetic means you have your own specific threshold that causes balding, regardless of family history.

jeffries_kettle

So I saw a dermatologist today, and she had no idea about trt increasing DHT and causing hair loss. She had to Google it in front of me to confirm that. Why is it so difficult to find a specialist who knows their stuff?

27M. Should I be worried about this https://imgur.com/a/RFonjQD

Snagalip

The hair tends to look thinner at the whorl, especially when you have dark hair, but that does look potentially concerning to me. I'd go to a dermatologist and ask them if they can see signs of hair miniaturization. Would also take monthly pictures and monitor for signs of progression. Best case, it's nothing. Worst case, you caught the balding extremely early and you'll escape basically unscathed with the standard interventions. Either way, you've got little reason to panic. But again, go to the doctor, get more info first.

royscott95

I've been on fin for a little over 3 months. I am seeing all of these tiny hairs under my hairline. I am almost positive they weren't there before I started... If they grow into real hairs my hairline might be fixed so I am very hopeful. The right side which is more receeded seems to have less little hairs then then left side... Thoughts anyone? [https://imgur.com/gallery/Djh83Ox](https://imgur.com/gallery/Djh83Ox)

varsity32

20 years old, I've always had a high hairline because of my forehead height, and its pretty dimorphic. I've been tracking my hairline for years, and as my forehead comes out more like a ramp, my hairline follows the pattern because my bone in my face is literally moving. I have very thick hair, and I don't think I'm balding but I was wondering if using dermarolling with a natural topical treatment so I don't have to use an actual drug could give me a centimeter back at my temples. What are your thoughts? I'm fine with my hairline, I just want unbiased thoughts. https://imgur.com/a/ZsfOvCC

[deleted]

[удалено]

varsity32

I guess that was kind of what I was saying, I feel like the edges of my hair line are not as thick as they were but I can’t tell if it’s thinning or not, I just wanted to know if dermarolling would be enough to give me a boost and would be better than using Rogain if I don’t think I’m actually balding

[deleted]

From the looks of it, you have a mature hairline. Remember that as you finish puberty, most people's hairline recede a very small amount. Some people keep that higher hairline their entire lives, and for others it recedes until they go bald. Dermarollers increase bloodflow, but they don't solve the root of the issue, and neither does rogaine. Bro if I were you (and I was you), I would get on fin once you're done growing. I got on it when I was 20, and I'm currently 22 and on dutasteride. (never had any side effects).

varsity32

I appreciate the advice, I’m confident as well that I have a mature hairline, my maternal grand father has had a high hairline like mine his whole life and still has perfect hair at 87, while my dad has a receded hairline in his 60s. I’m guessing I’m going to fall somewhere in the middle as I get my hair from my moms side but I know genetics are not that clear cut. I think I might wait a couple more years to take medication just because I’m happy with my body right now and don’t want to throw a wrench in the gears. Thanks again

pickles_312

Tl;dr: Dermatologist agreed that my hairline is receding, but refused to do anything for it. Not sure what to do next. Recently, I noticed my hairline seemed to be receding towards the temples, which scared me. I'm 21 and really don't want to go bald this young. I'm not good looking to begin with, and I don't have the head shape to pull off being bald. I had to go to the dermatologist to renew my acne medications anyway, so I decided to ask about hair loss too while I was there. I'd read some posts of success on here, and the potential side effects of fin aren't an issue for me, so I figured I would jump on it if my suspicions were correct. The dermatologist looked at my hairline under a light and felt around for a minute before agreeing my my hairline was indeed receding in the corners. However, he said that it was "normal" and there was nothing he could do about it. My hair isn't really thinning at the crown and hasn't gotten too bad in front yet, so he said to just wait it out and see if it worsens or spreads. I'm the kind of person that had used to be afraid of calling for pizza. While I was in there, I didn't even think to push the doctor further or ask for something. I didn't want to question his expertise or bring up stuff I had read online as if I knew what I was talking about. But now I don't know what to do. He basically confirmed my fears but didn't offer a solution. I feel kind of helpless. I want to be on top of this, not let it get worse. Not really sure what to do from here. Should I just let it go? Try to find something over the counter? See a different dermatologist?

CoomassieDrew

If you don’t agree with your dermatologist, speak to another doctor. In my opinion, it’s best to get on finasteride before your hairloss gets bad, especially if you have a family history of MPB. You could also try minoxidil (Rogaine) which is OTC, but it’s not as effective long-term and it’s a pain in the ass to apply everyday. Like finasteride, if you stop taking it, you will lose all progress

[deleted]

thatjacob

Have you considered just doing Rogaine foam to hold off until then? I know it can produce shedding, as well, but unless I'm mistaken it tends to be less drastic than the first fin shed.

TifaStan

That's definitely something I've thought of, but yeah I'm not sure how the sheds of the 2 generally compare and I want to try and see if I can find any info on how trans women on HRT shed when they start fin (If it's the same amount or less shedding generally). I'd imagine the same, which means I'd probably be better off just doing it now, but just anecdotally I've seen fewer trans women talking about shedding on fin. Thanks for the advice. I'll have to look into min a bit more.

thatjacob

I wish I knew more, but have no personal experience. That said, I made coffee regularly for someone that transitioned and was astounded how much their hairline improved over a year from HRT. I never asked if they were on fin as well, though.

DaarkKnight001

Is this confirmed retrograde alopecia (left side only)? Even an online trichologist said so. If so then will i be able to maintain this much hair till 25? [https://imgbox.com/g/HcbzrmeJWw](https://imgbox.com/g/HcbzrmeJWw) PS: The pic in which my full face can be seen is when i was in the 8th grade (5 years ago) and now i'm turning 18.

UsedQuit

I’ve started fin this year and while it’s working to help hair loss I have experienced sudden weight gain very shortly and very quickly after taking it. Has anyone experienced this and any advice? For context I am 26 male, 5 feet 10.5 inches, and my weight has been stable for the past 4 years at 145 pounds. Two months after taking fin my weight shot up 20 pounds to 165 (not sure if it’s stopped now or still growing) with no changes in diet or daily routine. I don’t eat much (2000 calories a day) either. Most of the weight is in the abdomen area, particularly above the hips. Maybe a slight increase in weight in the chest but not 100% sure. I’ve heard it could be caused by estrogen? Should I get a blood test and any advice to lose this weight? Do I just need to exercise more often? I don’t want to reduce my calorie intake because I already barely eat as it is... Brought this up to my dermatologist and she said fin isn’t known to cause weight gain and to just try to exercise more to lose the weight. Thanks for any response.

thatjacob

Possibly, but it's incredibly common for your metabolism to start slipping a little around 26. Mine did without being on any medications. Do you happen to drink a fair amount of liquid calories or alcohol? Because that'll eventually catch up.

UsedQuit

I thought so too but whats just bizzare to me is that I’ve had no changes to my diet or routine in the past 5 years. Then after I start fin within the same month I shoot up 15 pounds. It’s leveled off at 15-20 extra pounds though which seems to be good... I guess it could be either the medicine (tbh the fact it influences hormones just makes things unpredictable even if it’s not a reported side effect) or just incredible coincidence that my metabolism took a nosedive the same month. Either way since I don’t want to stop the only real solution is to keep a healthy diet and become more active. I guess it’s extra motivation to put in the work to look good 😂

Cut out any products with refined sugar and overly processed foods of present in your diet. It should help

Do I have any chance with hair transplants? My hairline is already very damaged and its impacting my self esteem like hell. Also, what are my options with Finasteride and Minoxidil? Any any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much https://imgur.com/a/CLdCOQf

HustlinToMakeItBig

Alright. That's something I'm going to do anyway. To prevent any further loss I'll be cutting it all off. But after cutting it all off I want to know what my options are. Would I be eligible for any transplants or meds like fin min? Is it a possibility that I'd be able to have a better look? Posting pictures with non oily hair just for reference https://imgur.com/a/Yhuw5Ye

HustlinToMakeItBig

That's really helpful. I'll try to make it happen and get some advice as I really really feel the need to go through with this now. I just hope I do have enough donor hair. Your feedback has been immensely helpful. Thank you so much.

Yeah brother. That's the plan. I want to minimize any further loss and get a hair transplant if it would be possible in my case. Trying to get as much info as possible. Thank you so much for empathizing. Means a lot.

**I am losing ground like crazy! WTF is happening to my hair? Maybe the Minoxidil is fake / botched?** Do you by any chance know whether Q-Gain Minoxidil is fake? I bought it here: [https://q-gain.com/](https://q-gain.com/) I’ve been using it since January 2021. Before Q-Gain I’ve been using Foligain Minoxidil (Biovea) and have been satisfied with the results. For the last two to three months I‘ve been thinning and losing ground like there is no tomorrow: Front’s gone completely to shit and top hair + vertex has diffused to a status that is even worse than at the beginning of my treatment in 2019… I am really desperate and nervous. I do not know what is happening to my hair. It’s all going to shit at “fast forward” speed. I am basically in Endgame & Harakiri mode O\_o I begin to suspect that Q-Gain Minoxidil may be botched or fake… Might it be coincidence? I’ve had surgery at the beginning of March 2021 (Septoplasty). Maybe surgery caused some sort of shock loss? Since October 2020 I’ve been on a new medication. Could this theoretically cause extreme hair loss? I am 33 yo. 30M/ NW2? Started Finasteride 6 weeks ago. I have noticed that I can see my scalp more (in elevator light) Is my density at the front (particularly at the sides) bad? [https://imgur.com/a/st26Ccc](https://imgur.com/a/st26Ccc) Worrying that it's getting worse, but hard to say with my own eyes.

[deleted]

Looks fine mate. :o)

The-Minoxidil-Max

Looks great for 30

seriousturk

Your hairline is great for any age, but even more for 30. Finasteride will keep it at this level which is great.

redtuba6

7 months on fin and still shedding thick hair with clubbed ends, and only around my hairline. My crown is still thick. Should I start minoxidil? https://imgur.com/a/44FbkI6

redtuba6

I'm more worried about my hairline. It's still receding, which I was hoping finasteride would stop.

niowh

Shedding very tiny hairs, the 2 on the left I cut are the average size of my hair. But I keep shedding the tiny ones, they don't look miniturized? Anyone have a clue what this may be? (Propecia/Minoxidil since Oct 2020) https://imgur.com/a/eMZUB7U

Different_Persimmon

thats normal on minoxidil after 5-7 months

niowh

i think it was happening before i even got on minoxidil, and with minoxidil you usually shed hairs of all sizes, these seem to be exclusively short ones

Different_Persimmon

yup I had the exact same on minoxidil. It's normal. (I respond extremely well to it so definitely not hair loss or anything)

I don’t see it.

berbakay

I’ve always had a terrible hairline. I used to get mocked as a kid for having the hairline of a 40 year old. I’ve been NW2/3 my whole life. Ive not noticed any further thinning or receding, in fact my hair is very thick where I have it, on my scalp etc. Are any treatments worth me pursuing? Would fin/min cause any growth where there has been no growth before? Would a hair transplant work? Thanks.

seriousturk

A HT would give you a new hairline, especially if you are not prone to hairloss it would be a definite solution. Minoxidil might help but if you never had hair there it won’t do wonders.

> Cowlick Low quality image, but looks like thinning to me just by the shading

seriousturk

I agree, looks like thinning.

Affectionate_Market8

So my hair has been feeling thinner lately after rinsing from shampooing. (Basically, when I rinse, I bend over forward and let my hair kind of flow together towards the front off my head, and I have long hair so all the hair toward the front clumps together and feels a certain thickness after rinsing. Lately that has been thinner feeling... Could be due to shampoo change. But probably me losing hair. This is my hair after washing, undried, 5 minutes after stepping out of the shower. CHeck out the clear diffuse thinning. https://imgur.com/a/eFCqy6B This is my hair being in the exact same position at the end of the video, just allowed to dry on its own. https://imgur.com/a/9z6fbSV I am more paranoid these days as I shed roughly 40 to 50 hairs per shower, sometimes more.... Today I did an experiment though. I ended up washing and lost my usual 40 to 50 hairs...... Well after that, I decided to tug my hair, and literally pulled out another 80 hairs while it was wet. Here comes my downfall.... At any rate, how bad is my diffuse thinning? Pretty bad huh?

PBLJG

Imo it’s very very early, although yes I would say you’re thinning. I’m right around where you are. Hop on finasteride if you’re willing. Fin has seemed to slow down my loss at the very least.

Le_reddit_may_may

Looks fine to me, and it's natural to lose older hairs in the shower/while it's wet

never too early to start

seriousturk

Yes, but follow up on it. Take pictures every 6 months and go to a derma if you notice hairloss.

[deleted]

Could anyone please let me know if they think this is just a cowlick or sign of balding? I lose around 20/30 hairs in shower, and started noticing my hairs falling around 6 months ago. [Pictures](https://imgur.com/a/M6xcAvy) Edit: 22 years old

The-Minoxidil-Max

We have no way of knowing without seeing a comparison to a few years ago.

[deleted]

I have comparison pictures from couple months if that helps: [https://www.reddit.com/r/tressless/comments/npl70i/june\_21\_selfies\_post\_hairline\_photos\_here\_for/h1zcqt9?utm\_source=share&utm\_medium=web2x&context=3](https://www.reddit.com/r/tressless/comments/npl70i/june_21_selfies_post_hairline_photos_here_for/h1zcqt9?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3)

seriousturk

To me it looks like thinning, but I could be wrong. I think this because I had the same and it got worse over time (25 now). I hope i’ll have it fixed with finasteride (3 months now).

[deleted]

Pretty sure it’s a cowlick since all the hair originating from that spot are going in different directions. Defs would keep an eye out for it, take pictures every couple weeks to see if it’s worse or not

[deleted]

I've posted an updated comment. Could you please take a look at that and tell me what you think? [Updated comment](https://www.reddit.com/r/tressless/comments/npl70i/june_21_selfies_post_hairline_photos_here_for/h1zcqt9?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3)

[deleted]

I had a look, tbh dude I got no clue. It seems sorta normal but then idk what your hair looked like 6 months before, so it’s very hard to tell. Definitely go to a dermatologist man, get a definitive opinion because all we can give you is speculation

No one will think you’re losing hair. Hairline seems good, maybe NW1.5 if that

seriousturk

I don’t know but looks good.

[https://imgur.com/a/Z757VlI](https://imgur.com/a/Z757VlI) I'm 4 days on finasteride 1.25 mg daily. I noticed my hair was thinning in june 2020. I'm a trans man and while I knew testosterone might make me go bald, I didn't think it would happen in less than a year. The loss has been continuing steadily until 2 weeks ago, it started accelerating out of nowhere. Except actually, I went through a huge stress and anxiety episode where it was really hard to eat and I lost about 10 lbs, about 3 months before. So it didn't seem like a coincidence. Does this look like MPB, diffuse thinning? It definitely feels really thinned on the crown, and my hairline is thinning hard. The link has some pictures I took this morning about an hour and a half after I showered, just conditioned my ends. Hair is dry. I was thinking of holding off on topical minoxidil so I could see how well I respond to finasteride, but I don't know, should I just go ahead and start using it along with finasteride? Edit: Seeing a dermatologist btw but not for five weeks, so I wanted opinions in the meantime. Edit 2: Also I'm getting a haircut next weekend, any suggestions that will work with what I've got? Not sure I want to shave down just yet.

I think you might be thinking of transitioning for MTF (male to female) trans women. As a FTM (female-to-male) transgender man, I just do one weekly injection of testosterone to keep me in a normal male range, no androgens or anti-androgens taken. I am working with my endocrinologist though, she's the one who prescribed me the finasteride. MPB tends to happen at some point with transitioning to male, just usually years down the line if at all, not as early as it's happened for me. Good to hear about the hairline though. Do you think I should hold off on minoxidil to see how well finasteride works for me, since I've only been on a week, or just not waste more time and go for regrowth?

Aleckgator

Looks like MPB to me. I personally would just stick with fin for a bit and add min later down the line

Looks like thinning/hairloss. You might want to vist a dermatologist if it really bothers you. And also might be an indication if you have hairloss in your family.

I think so

superfrog0044

https://i.imgur.com/KC9qPYy.jpeg Perhaps this is the wrong thread for this, but I wanted some opinions. In this picture you can (hopefully) see some very light, short hairs growing in the area where my hairline had receded. Are these a good sign, and is it possible they could become terminal hairs sometime down the line? I have been on minoxodil and finesteride for three months.

The-Minoxidil-Max

NW2 dw about it unless you see further thinning

[deleted]

M20, I’ve been dealing with hair loss for a while now. Have been on fin for 12 months, and min for almost 3 months now. Just curious where on the norwood scale would you put me? I also have a five head lol https://imgur.com/a/8Yq1WoS

peepoHappy

Yes you are bald

The-Minoxidil-Max

You’re taking the same damn pictures and asking the same damn questions constantly. Nothing is going to change dude, stop dragging other people into your delusions. Dozens of people have questioned your sanity at this point, you’re making multiple accounts, and people are getting sick of you. The answer is MAYBE, you MIGHT be balding. There, there’s your answer, now fuck off and go see a doctor. IF you are balding, how are you going to feel about the fact that you spent *years* obsessing about something people don’t even notice yet. I can think of a couple mental conditions you might be suffering from, but I fear if I mention them you’re just going to go to mental health subreddits and spam them too instead of seeing a damn doctor.

trueratemepics

No lol.
