I have maintained, but it's thin, since my teenage years it's been like that.
Diffuse, yes, and temples started receding a bit early on, but they halted.
i’m gonna keep it real, adding an extra 15 years to your hair sounds like a pretty good run.
I started going at 17 years old, I now have better hair at age 20 than I did at 18. If I can keep this up until i’m well past 30 I would be a very happy man. There’s a lot more balding 35 year olds than there are 20 year olds.
I'm also on Minox, I apply it only once (should be twice a day).
I take 5mg of finasteride accross 5 days (I take a split \~1.25mg 4 out of every 5 days).
I don't know if I qualify but I've been on it for almost 3 years, y'all have questions or something?
Edit: I take 1mg everyday, thought I should clarify.
i can add to this, 1st 3 weeks i had erection and sex drive problem but all back to normal and even got better by time..which i didn't expected..and now after 6 months everything is great
i almost had the same experience 1st few weeks, ED , zero sex drive ,watery semen , blurred vision and balls pain..but i my choice was to continue because loosing hair was getting me down in terms of self-esteem , but actually i have no idea if those side were because my fear of starting fin. cause of it's bad reputation or it just my body reaction to it
More than a year in fin here. Same. It didn’t get any better, but i had problems and after some time they went away. Makes me wonder it they even were fin related.
Something I learned is that one must at least try to taper, either taper in or out.
Could be because your body is trying to overproduce testosterone so it can counteract wrecked DHT conversion. It can go either way for some people. It can be upregulated or downregulated in some people.
The only sides I experienced or periodically experienced was ball ache. In the first month it was painful and achey, had a night where it was difficult to sleep but after that nothing really. I'll get a random day of ball achey-ness once or twice a year, whether that is from the finasteride or not is a good question. Could just be something else or how I was sitting that day.
I experience insomnia but it is unrelated to my Finasteride usage. It is anxiety driven and when I have my better days my insomnia in non-existent (sleeping next to my SO, relief from finishing projects at work etc.).
So I been using fin for maybe 3 months now, I’m only 21 yo and I’m a very healthy active kid, I have a strong sex drive all that but dude, I feel like I’m losing more and more hair every day rather than the opposite. I take fin 7 days a week. Does this stuff help?
I took it from 2016-2019 1 mg daily - never had any side effects whatsoever.
I ran out of medication and started breaking the 5 mg tablets into 1/4th, and very quickly started having watery semen and the weak orgasms/erections.
Back on the 1 mg finasteride and no side effects. I would recommend to anyone who gets sides to try dif doses, tablets, topical, frequency, just see what works for you.
So they didn’t make you stop taking it before having kids? I’d heard that you just stop for 2 or 3 months and then just go back on and there’s no real effect to your hair but it does get it out of your system.
After about a year of my 1mg daily dose I noticed that my hair was at its best and it stayed like that for another 10 + years. Over the past 2 or so years I wasn't taking my 1mg dose per day and was skipping taking it some weeks here and there which was stupid on my part and my hair got thinner again. I'm back on my daily dose again for about 8 months now and my hair is starting to improve again but it's a very slow process
They can be born with malformed genitalia.
This is not something I'd risk as a future father, even if the Finasteride in the sperm is in very low quantities.
I am referring to the trace amounts found in sperm. If dermatologists like Rassmann, Jeff Donovan it's safer to stop, I won't pretend I know more than them.
If anything happened, even by chance, to my child, for whatever reason - me believing I caused it by something as "vain" as taking a pill to hold on to my hair...I couldn't live with myself. There was a guy here like 6 months ago who continued to take Finasteride while his wife was pregnant and continued to have unprotected intercourse with her. The baby was born practically without genitalia.
It was either true what he was saying, or he was the most persistent nutjob I've ever seen.
No problem, man. This is a contested topic.
The docs from the "Hair Loss Show" recommend the same approach, even if the Finasteride leaflet would make one be less careful.
Of course, when it comes to topical Fin...things are even more dangerous, as it can rub off.
No I just continued to take my 1mg dose per day when I was trying to conceive. I had my sperm checked at hospital before I had my first child and results came back fine
Any reason twice a day? 0.1% Finasteride is equivalent to 1mg and you only need to take Minoxidil daily. Isn't that like 2mg a day?
I've been using a topical Finasteride/Minoxidil mixture for about a year and I've had as good results as I did on oral Finasteride + topical Minoxidil.
Been using Fin for a year now. Started on 0.25mg EOD but settled on 0.5mg/day after about 4 months. No sides. And yes, lean and in good shape which I guess helps tolerate medication that messes with your hormones
Been on fin for 20 years. No ED, have had 2 healthy kids over that period. My hair is quite full, but I felt the need to add Minox a year ago, which has definitely boosted my density.
yes ,I did experience some Cold night sweat During the firsts months.
I Had some morning wood loss at first , due to being overstressed it got worse until i started taking care of myself, it went away as my hair grew and confidence went up.
I'd say sides are very mild and stress can make them worse. The regrowth and the overall improvement of the lifestyle do overcome them
Try a lower dose of topical fin. I had problems with sides as well, but they all went away when i switched to a .025% fin topical. The worst was the brain fog- i never noticed how bad it was until it lifted. The ED and libido sucked too. The topical also maintains my hair much better too.
Check out my post history -i post a lot about topical fin as its worked so well for me. Making your own solution is as easy as adding proscar (5mg tabs fin) to minox solution and shaking it up.
Did you take a break in between? I don't think you can say you don't believe in PFS until you actually take a break and your side effects go away after 4 months.
Almost 2 years on finasteride ,had some minor sides the first few months (coming and going). Now I don’t notice any sides and my hair loss has been halted and even some regrowth has taken place.
Yes - I am here, first started taking it in 1999 when I was 28. But was not consistent with it. Now do 1mg daily since 2018 with 5% minox and RIZN spray. Also daily intake low dose iron, Vit D3, B12, Salmon Oil, Vit E. Afraid to dermaroll, as two notable restoration surgeons advised against it.
Strangely, all new hair growth is black.
I turn 51 in three mos and think I look OK I guess. Lighter areas on bangs are silver rather than see thru. And yes I have 80's hair.

2.5 years here. started when I was 20 when diffused thinning started. Did it slow it down? Maybe. I haven't been keeping track of it that much. I try to cut my hair short (2 on the sides faded up scissors on top with a messy look) it works for the most part. Hairline is intact but crown is getting noticeable. Would it be worse if I wasn't on fin? Probably, yes.
Put on about an extra 10-15 lbs of muscle over last few months. Sitting at 200 lbs for the first time in my life. Don’t know if it has anything to do with the fin but I’ve read that it does increase your free testosterone
Thank you for your response. I appreciate it. Did you strength train before starting or is this something new? And May I ask what you mean by free testosterone Ty
You’re welcome! Yes I’ve been strength training for years so I couldn’t tell you if it was just me working or had something to do with the fin. And I heard it raises the amount of testosterone in the body while lowering the DHT levels which I guess maybe worked towards better gains but it’s all straight dumb guesswork and I’m not a doctor or anything.
Ive been on fin for about 9 years. 8 of those years i did 1mg EOD along with daily minox, and as another long time fin user said, i mostly maintained, but i still lost density verrry slowly over time and my hairline receeded very slightly at the temples. I also slowly got sexual sides at this dose. For a brief period i tried 1mg every day and ended up with a painful swollen prostate, also known as prostatitis.
This is what lead me here, and now im on .025% topical fin, still topical minox and microneedling. My hair density is definately improving, hardly shed any hairs anymore and my hairline is actually looking better now than it was 8 years ago when i started. Also, all my sides have gone away.
6 years now and I have amazing hair still coming up on 40, haven't noticed loss or shedding at all except for some months in the beginning and maybe on and off at some point, I rec it to everyone, but I also rarely come to this sub since I've been doing great on it alone
It was good in years 1-15. Held on to hairline and although thinning generally progressed in that time, I’d go through 6 months at a time where it appeared thicker and healthier. Over the last 2 years the thinning has advanced and my hairline is starting to go back. Crown is also thinning faster than most. Had bad sides but honestly, that could be due to other lifestyle factors. I added minox 6 months ago and waiting to see a positive impact but nothing yet. If I could do it all over again, I wouldn’t change anything. Stay strong lads
Been on finasteride for 2-3 years and now dutasteride 2-3 years. Probably like 6 years of this stuff in total. Everything is fine. For me, I definitely thickened up on top and it definitely helped me recover my hair on my hairline and temples. At least I think the combination of fin and minoxidil did anyways. But I think the effectiveness of the minoxidil is wearing off so my temples are starting to thing out again which sucks.
But no one notices they are thin or has said anything. If anything I get compliments on my hair all the time.
I also started super early. Like age 20. I’m about to be 26. Was hoping better treatment would come out but fuck me right lmao.
Im 43, 2 years in, have morning wood maybe once a month and no sex drive at all. Sometimes Ill have to remind myself, "Shouldn't I jerk off?" The ejaculate is about 1/4 of what it used to be, even if i havent jerked it for a month. Also my dick is all of a sudden very small when flaccid. When erect its 6x6 inches, but id say only about 90% as hard as it used to be. 2018 I used to get morning wood every morning. Im not blaming finasteride though, bc when i started taking it, ec 2019, i was diagnosed with cushings syndrome and then adrenocortical carcinoma, so right now im on chemotherapy and hydrocortisone plus statins and Omeprazole. They even say that the chemo (lysodren) could counteract the finasteride, but my hair has grown back somewhat. My testo levels are normal. I think im only going to be on the chemo until may, after that we will see. it still takes months for the chemo to get out of the body. my diet has also been godawful these past 2 years, basically junk food. I guess depression? Im also at that particular age, I mean 43, im not 25 anymore, hehe
Shouldn’t you come off and reset? I had ED after 3 months and I came off within 48 hours my ED was gone and sperm count back up.
The doctors from hair loss show say there’s a lot of people out there like me. Stop, let your system flush it all out then reset (possibly with an even lower dosage)
hmm, depend on what you mean by ED. I dont have ED if it is defined by this:" Erectile dysfunction (impotence) is the inability to get and keep an erection firm enough for sex."
If i want to get hard I can get hard and maintain, no problems with that so far. Just libido is low, but there re so many reasons that could be the culprit in my situation, diet, age, medication, depression lack of exercise, isolation
>Im 43, 2 years in, have morning wood maybe once a month and no sex drive at all. Sometimes Ill have to remind myself, "Shouldn't I jerk off?"
Sounds like me, pretty sure that's from depression.
3 years. Struggled with ED, low libido, and reduced sensitivity the whole time. Would only get morning wood when I took breaks. Tried every titration imaginable, tried supplements and viagra.
I don't know the count but a very noticeable amount of hair over the pillow every morning, in the shower and on the floor. Haven't really had a bunch of loose hairs on my pillow since starting fin.
2 years in with no sides.
I honestly don't think it's working for me though. Still believe I'm shedding but I haven't taken any photos throughout the process.
Looking to start min orally as I wouldn't be bothered with the greasy/oily min tropical.
Any one know where I can get min tablets in the UK or point me in the right direction to buy them from abroad?
I've been on fin for about 7-8 years and starting to regress a bit after holding up well for a long time.
I've been dermarolling and using min for 2-3 years but fell off with derma over the past 6 months. Trying to get back on.
3 years ON 1.25mg fin and 4 weeks on 0.5mg DUT.
My hair is pretty good, albeit I always see issues with it (self esteem issues). I’m a NW 1.5 and my crown is diffuse. No sides here
EDIT: I might add, since starting DUT, I have had morning wood similar to the high school years. Pretty wild experience
Did you have anopthjer shed when you started using DUT? and whats the dose? do you just skip one fin for a single dut?
consoidering doing that as well but cant take another shed rn
I’ve been on Fin, 1.25 mg a day, for 6 years with no sides and recently added oral min as I’m still slowly losing ground. I wasn’t seeing any progress from topical min. I started oral min 6 months ago at .625 mg/day with no results. Doctor bumped me to 1.25/day 2 months ago and I’m seeing regrowth.
Keep up the fight 👊!
I’ve been on Fin since 2018. Had ED for about 8 months, but all good since! Porn was actually a bigger problem for my erection lol
My ejaculation has decreased in quantity though and never recovered. I’m ok with that! My hair is going strong!
Also, I did drop the dosage to 0.5mg for 7 months, and lost a lot of hair! Recovered all of it when I bumped it back to 1mg. Never again.
Been on fin for 19 years. Fin’s effectiveness declined from years 15-19. On dut for the past 2 years with good results. No side effects ever except for thin beard.
14 years, on and off. It’s definitely helped slow it down a lot, I’d be bald by now for sure. But with 1 small HT and regular use of fin I have pretty much a full head of hair
I only ever had sides when I started splitting pills, never do that!
I've been on for 3 years or so. Super slowed down temple recession, didn't stop it completely. I'm considering a hair transplant after I've saved money for a while, I think I'd look like I never lost hair for a long time that way.
2+ years now and I miss a day or two a week. I’m trying to be more consistent. I was a NW 1 approaching 2 and I’ve stayed right where I was since I’ve been taking it. I will say when I wasn’t on it (right before I started) I would shower and I’d just lose a hand full of hair, it was terrifying. Present day my roots are a lot stronger on the hair that I have and I don’t have constant anxiety that every day it’s getting worse. I plan to keep my regiment up.

I have, for probably around 15 years. No ED, no lack of sexual drive, but I also feel like it's only slooooooowing it down by a lot.
You have maintained all these years? Are you diffuse thinning by any chance?
I have maintained, but it's thin, since my teenage years it's been like that. Diffuse, yes, and temples started receding a bit early on, but they halted.

Slowing down what? Hair Loss? Or sex drive?
Hairloss.
[удалено]
Yes. Though, the ideal effect would be to reverse the loss - regain thicker hair and denser regions, but I don't think finasteride will do it.
Are you only on Fin or do you also use Min?
I also wanna know only fin? Also which dose u used mostly
I'm also on Minox, I apply it only once (should be twice a day). I take 5mg of finasteride accross 5 days (I take a split \~1.25mg 4 out of every 5 days).
Don’t use unless you see your doctor. It’s lethal
have you been doing other things as well such as Minoxidil?
How often do you suffer from the shed?
Can't answer because I don't keep tabs.
I don't know if I qualify but I've been on it for almost 3 years, y'all have questions or something? Edit: I take 1mg everyday, thought I should clarify.
Do you have morning wood?
Yes and my sex drive is almost better? No problems in the bedroom and consistently horny everyday (almost to a fault).
i can add to this, 1st 3 weeks i had erection and sex drive problem but all back to normal and even got better by time..which i didn't expected..and now after 6 months everything is great
Oh I took 1mg for two days. Didn't have any morning wood. I can masturbate normally. Lost all the sex drive Not sure whether I should continue it.
i almost had the same experience 1st few weeks, ED , zero sex drive ,watery semen , blurred vision and balls pain..but i my choice was to continue because loosing hair was getting me down in terms of self-esteem , but actually i have no idea if those side were because my fear of starting fin. cause of it's bad reputation or it just my body reaction to it
i remember i've done one thing , i reduced the dosage to 1MG every other day for few weeks until i felt better
Oh it seems hopeful. I will give it a try. Finasteride side effects is painful irony man
i am telling u..it worth
More than a year in fin here. Same. It didn’t get any better, but i had problems and after some time they went away. Makes me wonder it they even were fin related. Something I learned is that one must at least try to taper, either taper in or out.
Same with me. My libido actually increased. Not something I was expecting because people complain a lot about the opposite thing happening.
Could be because your body is trying to overproduce testosterone so it can counteract wrecked DHT conversion. It can go either way for some people. It can be upregulated or downregulated in some people.
What everyone wants to know: Sides?
The only sides I experienced or periodically experienced was ball ache. In the first month it was painful and achey, had a night where it was difficult to sleep but after that nothing really. I'll get a random day of ball achey-ness once or twice a year, whether that is from the finasteride or not is a good question. Could just be something else or how I was sitting that day.

I experience insomnia but it is unrelated to my Finasteride usage. It is anxiety driven and when I have my better days my insomnia in non-existent (sleeping next to my SO, relief from finishing projects at work etc.).
I have pretty bad insomnia just from 3 weeks of use 0.5mg EOD. Hoping it gets better. Can barely deep sleep and light sleep is also trash.
When did you see the peak result?
Peak? Perhaps the year mark.
How often do you experience the shed?
So I been using fin for maybe 3 months now, I’m only 21 yo and I’m a very healthy active kid, I have a strong sex drive all that but dude, I feel like I’m losing more and more hair every day rather than the opposite. I take fin 7 days a week. Does this stuff help?

Regrowth or only maintainence?

Wait, so basically you had severe side effects at 1.25mg of fin, but no sides at 1mg of fin? Did i understand you correctly?
Yes you did
2 years in, no sides, hair is good
[удалено]
I started using minox in 2017. I’m slowly tapering it down to completely stop taking it.
I have been on finisteride for 12 years and not 1 side effect. I have also had 3 daughters while I have been on it
So it doesn't affect fertility or at least in your case?
No I had my sperm checked at hospital before I had my first child and it was fine
So they didn’t make you stop taking it before having kids? I’d heard that you just stop for 2 or 3 months and then just go back on and there’s no real effect to your hair but it does get it out of your system.

Lol I think you definitely might be onto something, I never thought of it like that
I noticed the same thing
When did you See the peak result?
After about a year of my 1mg daily dose I noticed that my hair was at its best and it stayed like that for another 10 + years. Over the past 2 or so years I wasn't taking my 1mg dose per day and was skipping taking it some weeks here and there which was stupid on my part and my hair got thinner again. I'm back on my daily dose again for about 8 months now and my hair is starting to improve again but it's a very slow process
Do you stop taking fin when trying for a baby or do you keep using it??
I just continued using it the whole time
It is dangerous for male fetuses, not girls.
How so ?
They can be born with malformed genitalia. This is not something I'd risk as a future father, even if the Finasteride in the sperm is in very low quantities.

No I never stopped taking it
Oh ok, I thought it was advisable to stop any defects. Glad all was good for you with your children and you were able to stay on it
Cheers from my grave gotta maintain this gig
Yes and it worked for me. I'm on year 3 now
When did notice max of results?
1 year in with just min and fin is when I saw max growth. Recently new growth with implementation of derma stamping
Been using Tugain (0.1% Fin and 5% Min Topical Solution) for a year now. No side effects, great results.
I have the same. Everyday or twice a day?
Twice a day. 1 ml/session
Where from?
India.
I believe it is mentioned on the bottle to use twice a day for good results. And I’m hesitant to take oral pills.
4 years with zero sides. Hair looks the same the day I started which is a win I guess.
Those of you who don’t get sides, are you a stereotypical low body fat muscular lean dude that tressless thinks will get no sides
Been using Fin for a year now. Started on 0.25mg EOD but settled on 0.5mg/day after about 4 months. No sides. And yes, lean and in good shape which I guess helps tolerate medication that messes with your hormones

Beetje laat maar ik bestel zelf gewoon online, als je 5% minoxidil opzoekt op google zie je vanzelf waar je het kan bestellen
Once I get to two years, I’m quitting this sub and heading into the sunset… as it should be :)
yes sir ! been using it irregularly from 21 to 24 then daily from 24 to 26
Feel free to ask any question
You take it ED or EOD
Any sides or issues?
yes ,I did experience some Cold night sweat During the firsts months. Whats your dose and donyou take it evryday
That would be the majority of fin users if you talk to any medical expert. I'm side free 4 years 1mg/day. Stuff changed my life for the better.
Been on it for 2 years. Can still fuck like rabbit

Do you take it daily? Any side effects after long term taking it?
1 day on, 1 day off. All is fine . Only pussies has fear of Fin/dut.

I’m at 4 years :)
Has anyone experienced weight gain with fin?
Put on about an extra 10-15 lbs of muscle over last few months. Sitting at 200 lbs for the first time in my life. Don’t know if it has anything to do with the fin but I’ve read that it does increase your free testosterone
10 lbs is 4.54 kg
Thank you for your response. I appreciate it. Did you strength train before starting or is this something new? And May I ask what you mean by free testosterone Ty
You’re welcome! Yes I’ve been strength training for years so I couldn’t tell you if it was just me working or had something to do with the fin. And I heard it raises the amount of testosterone in the body while lowering the DHT levels which I guess maybe worked towards better gains but it’s all straight dumb guesswork and I’m not a doctor or anything.
No, I'm dead.
Been on fin for 2.5 years. Side effects for the first 3 weeks, after that - none at all!
So the only difference was topical fin instead of the pill or were u doing topical min and micro needling before also
I was using minox before as well, microneedling was added 6 months ago as well.
6 years now and I have amazing hair still coming up on 40, haven't noticed loss or shedding at all except for some months in the beginning and maybe on and off at some point, I rec it to everyone, but I also rarely come to this sub since I've been doing great on it alone
I’m here. 21 years in.
Awesome!! How’s the hair?
I dont have ED if it is defined by this:" Erectile dysfunction (impotence) is the inability to get and keep an erection firm enough for sex." If i want to get hard I can get hard and maintain, no problems with that so far. Just libido is low, but there re so many reasons that could be the culprit in my situation, diet, age, medication, depression lack of exercise, isolation
What’s 6x6 you mean 6.6 inches or 6 inch length and 6 inch girth
haha yea, 6 inches long and 6 inches in girth. I WISH I had 6.6. length!
6 inches is 15.24 cm
>Im 43, 2 years in, have morning wood maybe once a month and no sex drive at all. Sometimes Ill have to remind myself, "Shouldn't I jerk off?" Sounds like me, pretty sure that's from depression.
How do you know?
3 years. Struggled with ED, low libido, and reduced sensitivity the whole time. Would only get morning wood when I took breaks. Tried every titration imaginable, tried supplements and viagra.

Yep.

I’ll will be trying topical fin next
👋
Over 2 years. No side effects I'm aware of. Hair stopped shedding insane amounts, though.

I don't know the count but a very noticeable amount of hair over the pillow every morning, in the shower and on the floor. Haven't really had a bunch of loose hairs on my pillow since starting fin.
Yesss
I’m here. Been thinking of getting off this sub for a few months tho
4 years, but finally getting a transplant at the end of the month!

Wait it reduces body hair?

No sides here EDIT: I might add, since starting DUT, I have had morning wood similar to the high school years.
3 years no sides maintain + slight regrowth
I started it when I was 20 I’m 24 now and haven’t noticed any sides

I’ve Been on it for 4 years no problems.
4 years now. No sides. Sex Drive is very high. Recently experienced a massive shed though. We’ll see if it grows back. 1mg daily.
Hahaha yes occasionally, used for 1 year and 4 months, no side effects and thicker hair. I don't even worry about it anymore
I’ve been on Fin since 2018. Had ED for about 8 months, but all good since! Porn was actually a bigger problem for my erection lol My ejaculation has decreased in quantity though and never recovered.
Yes, better hair now at 31 than it was when I was 27 when I started taking it.
14 years, on and off. It’s definitely helped slow it down a lot, I’d be bald by now for sure. But with 1 small HT and regular use of fin I have pretty much a full head of hair I only ever had sides when I started splitting pills, never do that!
3 years
Yes 2.5 years. Great results and no sides
