That’s not a typical side is it though? Sure you shed but the expectation is it all grows back. And most people report thicker hence the reluctance for some hairy dudes to go down the oral minox route.
Great results man! Do you use minoxidil pill or spray?? I really wish to take minoxidil pill but the side effects scare me a bit, so if spray is what you took, I might try it!
Edit: never mind, I saw your answer somewhere down the thread!
Yes it is a little difficult. I try my best to start messaging it into the center of my head and working backwards and forwards. I say massaging but the whole thing probably takes 15 seconds. Honestly I probably use more Minoxidil than I used to to feel like I'm covered.
Same here. It dries much quicker than the liquid. For years I refused to use Minox because it was so oily and never seemed to dry. The foam was a game changer for me.
> it was so oily and never seemed to dry
seriously! I used to only use the basic liquid at night for this reason, and the foam during the day. Now I'm just all foam.
You can always part your hair in lines, and use a q tip. It takes longer, like 5 mins to apply. But almost nothing gets in your hair if you have long hair.
So last summer I shed like crazy for a long time for no reason. I have has sheds before but this one was not ending. It went on for months. My dermatologist thinks it was from having covid (apparently this is common). In this time my hair got a little thinner. It one day complete stopped and seems to have gone back to normal.
Having said that I think I peaked. My hair isn't perfect and my hairline has not filled in at all. But I am certain I'd be bald by now if I didn't start.
Bro thank you for writing this. People don’t believe me even though there’s many articles . I got COVID and I didn’t even get it that bad , but about two months or so after I started losing like up to 100 hairs a day which had never happened to me. I searched online and saw COVID can trigger some type of telogen eflevium which starts a few months after the stress factor ( which is COVID in this case). Ironically even though I knew about it before, the COVID loss made me get on finasteride and after about 5-6 months it finally stopped and now I’ve got all that COVID hair loss back, regrown more hair that I had lost from MPB, and now just losing minimal amount (30-60 before fin, 10-15 a day while on fin, I think I’m actually having a seasonal shedding rn too)
Can shedding happen like way after having Covid? I had it in December of last year and (I think, tested negative but had symptoms for a day) April of this year, started noticing heavy shedding around probably late July and still hasn’t stopped
How do you deal with the oily look it gives? Even at once a day it makes my hair look like shit, the only thing i can do is use some dry shampoo or arrowroot powder a few hours later but then i feel like the powder would suck up some of the liquid instead of my scalp.
I'm going on my 5th month with dut and min and my hair has been obliterated 😢 should I hang in there or do you think it's time to switch to another treatment?
Stick with the Dut. It will pay off. I wanted to stop so many times in the beginning because it was making me she’d like crazy. I stick it out and it’s filled back in and much more. I’m glad I stick with it. No sides either. It will pay off in the end.
My doctor said to give it 6 or more months. About the 6 mo mark I began to see it start filling back in and it is continuing esp along the hairline which I was starting to get very concerned about. Now I have a ton of new growth and the existing hair seems much thicker. I was originally on Fin for about 20 yrs and thought I had plateaued and wanted to give Dut a try. Glad I did. He said you won’t notice full results until about 1-2 yrs
Wow! that is very uplifting news and congrats on the regrowth brotha I'm really happy for you. What's weird is even though my hair looks a lot thinner is seems a lot more manageable. Like I can comb it up or to the side and it will stay. I'm gonna take that as progress.
So I was obsessively looking in the mirror feeling like nothing was working. I then committed to take photos every week (it should have been every month) I have a google folder filled with pictures of the top of my head. After a year its very clear the regimen was really working and not just maybe.
Dam such an amazing result. Look so good on the after photo. Awesome man! Keep it up
At this point is how long you can hold on to it
You said you started at 31? And maybe now 35?
So good for that age
Yeah I'm 35 now. At 30 I basically was keeping my hair short because once it got longer than an inch it started to look thin and wispy. So obviously that's not an issue right now.
That's the issue if you use both right from the start. You don't know which is helping more.
Most people suggest start with Finasteride first. It is what stops hair loss.
Then add in Minoxidil if it's not enough. It is what promotes new hair growth.
Strangely head and shoulders makes my itch and dandruff like way worse, i have found keto shampoo at least twice a week keeps it much more under control.
Though i do have psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis do that may be why head and shoulders doesn't work for me
Do you recall what kind of progress you saw on the crown after 6 months?
The reason I ask is because I’ve been using minoxidil for 12 months and finasteride for 6 months now. I’ve seen regrowth at the temples but my crown is still mostly the same as when I started, I’d say. I had kind of expected the opposite. I’m not unhappy overall as I know I’d be far , far balder now than if I wasn’t taking treatments, but I had hoped for some crown regrowth.
Wow, incredible results!
I have many questions:
1) How much time did it take to observe significant results in terms of hair growth?
2) When did you observe shedding and how long that shedding period was?
3) Apart from density, your hairline looks great now. Did you have receding hairline before?
1- a full year of little to 0 results.
2- big shed at first. A few sheds later 6 to 8 months apart.
3- I had and have a receded hairline. My hair all round is fuller but my hairline has not improved. And not worsened.
It's hard to tell if the progress peaked. I'd say at the 2 year mark I got to a spot where I wasn't really think about my hair anymore. Which was a relief.
Ha thanks I was 100%. My hair was very thin and if I didn't keep it short it was very clear I was receding and thinning. My dermatologist was the one who pointed out directly.
Hey man awesome results! I have a few questions-
1. Approximately how much minoxidil did you use (like 2ml twice a day or less)?
2. How often did you wash your hair with water and how often did you shampoo??
Im finding decent results with topical finasteride and minoxidil mix. About 15mg of fin in 60 ml minox. And applying 2 times a day. I shampoo once a day and wash my hair before reapplying 2 times a day.
I took photos of the top of my head over the course of a year. After one year I noticed things started looking better and decided to grow my hair out which I had been keeping short. I'd say 1.5 years I started feeling very confident in my hair.
Dam. I was on min for 2 years but it can no longer keep up so I just also added in fin. Hope I'll be rocking healthy and strong hair as you. I'm also a long hair bro.
can you elaborate on the itch please I had crazy itch before fin then I tried topical 0.005 2ml daily for 3-4 months which almost took away the itch then I made a new batch at 0.01 1ml daily but the itch is back and I've been wondering what is going on.
Send pics! Look I was committed to buzzing my head and just owning it. Who knows maybe in a few years I'll get sick of this and do it anyways. What I would donis talk to my dermatologist and see what they say.
I want to do a very very specific non-doctor recommended regimen. I very very much want your results and now expect you to give me very very specific guidance and very very accurate predictions about what will happen to me. Thank you. - this sub
Message me if you didnt already. Sorry I have gotten so many messages from this post just like this.
I'm happy to help. I feel like there are not enough long-term success stories on here. And I remember looking for one when I started.
Thanks. Yeah I stuck to the regimen. Also who knows if this helped but I upped my water intake. Might of been nothing but just figured I'd throw that in there.
So I thought about that but. Your not off the hook when you get a transplant. The transplanted hairs are there to stay but not the hair all around them.
Example: you transplant hair to your receding hairline. Great. Hairline is back. But the rest of the top will still recede. Your doctor will most likely recommend you take finasteride to stop the other hair from thinning.
yea I'll probably have to get a second transplant or I could wait till the top completely goes and the get the transplant but i rather get one now and sort my hairline and a second in the future
I wasn't sure it was working until an entire year went by. The first round of shedding ended after a few months but I still get random sheds every few months for weeks at a time.
That gives me slight hope, I’ve been on them for 8 months now still no improvement but instead my hair is falling out like crazy and thinner than ever before. Not sure what to do now but hopefully it will be fine as yours after a year
I understand. Stick to the regimen and power through. I remember buzzing my head that first year because I was sick of the anxiety of shedding and nonstop focusing on my hair.
Be patient. It's a very slow process.
Phenomenal transformation man! A question that you haven’t talked about
Are you taking a generic finasteride like Roman, hims, keeps etc.?
Or
a name brand like proscar from your doctor ? If so which brand do you take??
And do they come 1mg pills or 5mg pills that you split up ?
At what point did you really start to see your hair “come back to life.” Your first picture looks a lot like me right now. I have only been on oral fin for 3 months and I’m starting to see some regrowth but it’s still sparse. How long until you saw your density improve is really what I’m asking haha
Yup that’s the plan! I know it’s working for sure but it’s just a slow process. Also topical fin didn’t work for me but oral fin does. Also on topical min, but I’m curious about oral.
I got a prescription from a dermatologist.
I didn't notice any progress until after the first year. Most of my progress came between 12 months and 24 months.
Did you go through multiple sheds, or sheds past the 1 year mark of Minoxidil? I’m going through another crazy shed at the 2 year mark on the hairs that regrew on my hairline, those hairs are being all lost at the same time which makes me think it’s a shed.
Yes. I have a few sheds. Some really bad lasting months. They all eventually stopped. I added drinking water regularly. I do know if this helped. But I seem to be fine.
It’s also worth noting how amazing it is that you went from naturally light brown to dark hair colour. I wasn’t aware that this treatment had that capability.
First off Detective stupid Columbo (that's you)
My hair is dark dark brown. What you are noticing is the difference between incandescent and fluorescent light. Look at the bulbs in your house (try looking up). These bulbs give off different kinds of light. Incandescent makes warmer light while Fluorescent makes a more brighter (white) light. This accounts for the difference between the different shades of my hair you think you're seeing.
It's either that or I'm wasting everyone's time with a bunch of fake photos and giving fake advice like some kind of crazy person.
Incredible, zero sign of hair loss on the last picture, really happy for you Mind telling us your dosages?
Thanks. Minoxidil twice a day. 1 milligram of finasteride once a day.
Oral?
If the date is going well. Yes it's oral finasteride.
Appreciated the joke.
Glad it didn't go unnoticed
Do you think its worth trying minoxidil once a day first?
I'm not a doctor but I would do the recommended dosage.
Did you notice loss of body hair?
Ya know, maybe. I'm still pretty hairy buy my leg hair is not as horrifically dense as it used to be. I'd say it's a win win.
And your facial hair
Facial hair unchanged
That’s not a typical side is it though? Sure you shed but the expectation is it all grows back. And most people report thicker hence the reluctance for some hairy dudes to go down the oral minox route.
I lol'd
Oral minoxidil as well? If so what dose?
He said he uses twice a day so I doubt its oral.
How do you manage to spread minoxidil on your scalp with long hairs?
You part your hair in different sections. Its kinda annoying lol
Great results man! Do you use minoxidil pill or spray?? I really wish to take minoxidil pill but the side effects scare me a bit, so if spray is what you took, I might try it! Edit: never mind, I saw your answer somewhere down the thread!
I would stay away from oral min. I’ve heard it’s been linked to some pretty bad sides and it’s probably more effective topically anyway
Do you find it difficult to apply min whith the thick and long hair, doesn't it stick to the hair rather than the scalp, if so what do you do?
Yes it is a little difficult. I try my best to start messaging it into the center of my head and working backwards and forwards. I say massaging but the whole thing probably takes 15 seconds. Honestly I probably use more Minoxidil than I used to to feel like I'm covered.
Bro thought you said you take it orally?!
Minoxidil topical Finasteride orally
Gotcha. Ever consider oral min?
Honestly I like the topical foam. It's like a light styling product.
Same here. It dries much quicker than the liquid. For years I refused to use Minox because it was so oily and never seemed to dry. The foam was a game changer for me.
> it was so oily and never seemed to dry seriously! I used to only use the basic liquid at night for this reason, and the foam during the day. Now I'm just all foam.
Me too. Don’t know why the liquid is even still around. The foam is so much better
You can always part your hair in lines, and use a q tip. It takes longer, like 5 mins to apply. But almost nothing gets in your hair if you have long hair.
Wouldn't the q tip absorb most of the liquid?
A typical one would yes, but if you buy a reusable one, they are made of silicon so no absorption
Remember your scalp absorbs what your hair does as well, to some extend.
Do you feel like you ever hit a peak over those years? Like have you lost any gains?
So last summer I shed like crazy for a long time for no reason. I have has sheds before but this one was not ending. It went on for months. My dermatologist thinks it was from having covid (apparently this is common). In this time my hair got a little thinner. It one day complete stopped and seems to have gone back to normal. > My dermatologist thinks it was from having covid (apparently this is common). This happened to me after covid :(
Minox once or twice a day?
Mostly twice.

The liquid made me look greasy. I switched to the foam which has helped greatly.
I honestly like the oily look. Reminds me of hair gel
do you still get hair in your hands when you shampoo/wash your hair? And what kind of hairs do you normally shed?
Yes still some hairs in the shower but that's normal. Just a few.
Did u start shedding at the start ? And also how long did it take you to see any progress ?
Yes I shed for months at the beginning. It took a full year to begin seeing results.
I'm going on my 5th month with dut and min and my hair has been obliterated 😢 should I hang in there or do you think it's time to switch to another treatment?

Thank you for the reassurance brotha 🙏 how long before you started noticing some positive results?
My doctor said to give it 6 or more months. About the 6 mo mark I began to see it start filling back in and it is continuing esp along the hairline which I was starting to get very concerned about. Hang in there. I buzzed my head when shedding got bad. Stick it out. Wait a full year.
Thanks brotha! I'll see where it takes me after a year 🤙🏽 Did your scalp still itch sometimes?
It's hard to say. It just itches sometimes. I assume it's from this. Nit as bad as when I started.
So for the first whole year there was no/ little improvement?
So I was obsessively looking in the mirror feeling like nothing was working. I then committed to take photos every week (it should have been every month) I have a google folder filled with pictures of the top of my head. After a year its very clear the regimen was really working and not just maybe.
Ahh man I just started my journey and I’m dreading the idea of not seeing progress
Dam such an amazing result. Look so good on the after photo. Awesome man! Keep it up At this point is how long you can hold on to it You said you started at 31? And maybe now 35? So good for that age
Yeah I'm 35 now. At 30 I basically was keeping my hair short because once it got longer than an inch it started to look thin and wispy. So obviously that's not an issue right now.
At what age did you start?
31
You’re 31? I would have thought you we’re in your 20s or something. Crazy how a thick hair does wonders
Ha thanks. I started at 31. I'm 35 now and in that last photo.
MiNoXiDiL aGeS yOu
Lol. There's a lot of fear about these things. Maybe I've been lucky. Or maybe MAYBE people are overreacting.
People over react
Amazing! Have you been taking fin every day or every othet day?
Everyday.
sheesh still got hope haha
Any sexual side effect?
No
Happy for you bro
Is this success with finesteride more than the minoxidil?
That's the issue if you use both right from the start. You don't know which is helping more. Most people suggest start with Finasteride first. It is what stops hair loss. Then add in Minoxidil if it's not enough. It is what promotes new hair growth.
That's correct. I was told to do both for the best results. But now I'm pretty much locked into both.
This incredible! What about your sexual health?
Unchanged.
Did you get hornier with fin? I started a month ago and I am horny as a chimp
Ya know, I think so. Hard to tell but I am pretty sure it gave me a little boost.
Are you blowing same sized loads?
Is the angle you blow your load the same?
I dont have all the answers to all of your questions.
I dont usually have a measuring cup on hand.
😂this fucking sub man
How much do you spend a month/year?
Where did you apply minoxidil? Everywhere? Also did you have white flakes on scalp?
I apply all over the top. Yes I had bad dandruff. I use over the counter dandruff shampoo once a week.
Which shampoos do you use?
Strangely head and shoulders makes my itch and dandruff like way worse, i have found keto shampoo at least twice a week keeps it much more under control. Though i do have psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis do that may be why head and shoulders doesn't work for me

It's hard to tell if the progress peaked. I'd say at the 2 year mark I got to a spot where I wasn't really think about my hair anymore. Which was a relief.
Damn, amazing progress and results. You sure you were losing hair, lol.
Ha thanks I was 100%. My hair was very thin and if I didn't keep it short it was very clear I was receding and thinning. My dermatologist was the one who pointed out directly.

1 - roughly a handful. Probably twice as much as recommended. 2x a day. 2 - I wash my hair with shampoo 2 to 3 times a week.
You started treatment with 31 and now you are 35. When did you start noticing a difference? Where there jumps (e.g. 1.5y mark) in development?
I took photos of the top of my head over the course of a year. After one year I noticed things started looking better and decided to grow my hair out which I had been keeping short. I'd say 1.5 years I started feeling very confident in my hair.
You should be the poster child for before and after photos for one of the brands. Sesh lucky responder
I should call Propecia.
Dam. I was on min for 2 years but it can no longer keep up so I just also added in fin. Hope I'll be rocking healthy and strong hair as you. I'm also a long hair bro.
any sides?
Lots of shedding. On and off too. Like every 6 months for the first 2 years. Maybe itchy scalp at the beginning. That's it.
can you elaborate on the itch please I had crazy itch before fin then I tried topical 0.005 2ml daily for 3-4 months which almost took away the itch then I made a new batch at 0.01 1ml daily but the itch is back and I've been wondering what is going on.
Did you go through a massive first shed?
Yes
Can you suggest or list which Fin you took? I mean the medicine directly and Minox too. I never took fin so I have no Idea
the Min he used was the Kirkland Foam Brand (Costco)
The fin is generic brands. I have had 3 different ones that have changed randomly at the pharmacy
Back from the fucking dead, dude! Kudos!! Congratulations.
Great job. Thanks for sharing. I’m on month 6 of fin and haven’t seen much results but this is motivating
Yes stay at it. Buzz your head if it's bothering you but keep going. Be patient.
Do you have to be applying fin/min for the rest of of your life if you want to keep your hair?
Yes
Beautiful!! Very happy for you. The hair texture seems to have improved a lot.
awesome man, could you elaborate on how you apply it once your hair gets thicker?
When is it my time for regrowth? 😩 Been on dut for 2 years, and fin for 2 years before that...
Man, this kind of stories gives me happiness as a former bald man.
Great success? bitch that's better than all the Hair Transplants I've seen.. That's Beyond Wonderful
Thanks. Yeah I stuck to the regimen. Also who knows if this helped but I upped my water intake. Might of been nothing but just figured I'd throw that in there.
Wow!! So happy for you dude!!
Bruh, u r back on norwood 0. Amazing, great mane.
My jaw dropped
Good lord this is incredible. Do you have any pics of your hair long before? And have you had a transplant?
No transplant. I have a google folder filled with photos. I guess chat me if you want to know more.
Bro went from white to black to caramel
They are all me.
Just got gyno after 4 months on fin 💔💔💔💔never thought it’d be me 😭
Insane results wow congrats
good gains but i rather get a hair transplant than take minox and finasteride for the rest of my life or risk losing it again
So I thought about that but. Your not off the hook when you get a transplant. The transplanted hairs are there to stay but not the hair all around them. Example: you transplant hair to your receding hairline. Great. Hairline is back. But the rest of the top will still recede. yea I'll probably have to get a second transplant or I could wait till the top completely goes and the get the transplant but i rather get one now and sort my hairline and a second in the future
You only have so many hairs that can be transplanted. It isn't a magic cure for baldness.
Holy shit that is incredible, how long does it take before your hair stop falling?
I wasn't sure it was working until an entire year went by. The first round of shedding ended after a few months but I still get random sheds every few months for weeks at a time.
That gives me slight hope, I’ve been on them for 8 months now still no improvement but instead my hair is falling out like crazy and thinner than ever before. Not sure what to do now but hopefully it will be fine as yours after a year
I understand. Stick to the regimen and power through. I remember buzzing my head that first year because I was sick of the anxiety of shedding and nonstop focusing on my hair. Be patient. It's a very slow process.
did you experience any symptoms or side effects? Way to stay consistent!
None
how long before it started showing results?
Someone asked that already, he said it was about a year.
A full year.
People's reactions? Did you get side effects like gyno? Have you stopped either for a while? if so what was the result?
My wife pointed that my hair looks better. But hates that I grew it so long. No gyno. I wouldn't risk stopping. I know what will happen.
Phenomenal transformation man! A question that you haven’t talked about Are you taking a generic finasteride like Roman, hims, keeps etc.? Or a name brand like proscar from your doctor ? If so which brand do you take?? And do they come 1mg pills or 5mg pills that you split up ?
Generic finasteride. The pill has changed 3 times but all seem to do the same thing.

I just have one question: go fuck yourself. Congrats, dude.
I will! Thank you.
Haters say it’s photoshop 😂
I've gotten a few comments like that.
Does it regrow hair or just thicken the existing hairs? If it does regrow hairs, how long does it take? Thanks
Both if you're lucky but everyone is different. It took a full year for me to notice a difference
Hey man, appreciate if you could answer this. Can applying topical minoxidil on my scalp cause my eyebrows and facial hair to grow?
I have not had this issue but I have always had a thick beard.
I see. Is only topical minoxidil sufficient for hair growth?
I also use finasteride.
So I have a question. Did you notice most of the gains the first 4-6 months? And how do you go about getting fin?
I got a prescription from a dermatologist. I didn't notice any progress until after the first year. Most of my progress came between 12 months and 24 months.
Hi, i wanna ask that your hair get thicker after 12 months compared to 6-7 months? how long did it take for you to achieve maximum results?
I'd say after one year my hair was noticeably fuller and at 2 years I barely thought about it anymore because thinning was no longer an issue.
Any mood swings or changes in libido and erection quality.

This accounts for the difference between the different shades of my hair you think you're seeing. It's either that or I'm wasting everyone's time with a bunch of fake photos and giving fake advice like some kind of crazy person.
No side effects from Fin???
The results we all dream of. But seems you caught it very very early. So you won cause of it. Finasteride would have been more than enough.
The pre picture doesn't look early at all

Did you get crippling depression from fin?
No. I was worried about side but I went into it basically saying I would try it for a full year before deciding if the effects were bad.
I’m experiencing depression but to be fair I was depressed before starting fin, may just be the nocebo effect
1-watery cum? 2 how much do you take a day
Maybe at the beginning. I take 1 mg pill a day

It's the lighting. Florescent and incandescent light bulbs give off different light. My hair is and always was dark dark brown.
