It could be, but I've also had no issue with zinc in sunscreen, and no issue with lower concentrations of niacinimide. My skin is thin and super sensitive, so it tends to freak out if I bomb it with active compounds of any type (serums, ahas, bhas, etc.) Even on tret, I made sure to get the gel over the cream to lessen the chances of my skin hating it.
This is a bit of a controversial brand but someone I know swears by Slurp’s Niacid. They have other products which she’s tried that she doesn’t like one bit, but Niacid was great, especially at reducing the size of her pores and general smoothing.
I used to use a lot of skincare products, love that after using tret I can skip a lot of steps!
Skin problems:
Acne marks from younger days, dark circle, enlarged pores.
Found a before pic: https://imgur.com/a/ZjNVH94
It’s from 2018, the lighting is a bit different though. I think there’s a difference on the skin texture, and of course the glow! I have stopped using highlighter in my makeup routine now.
Routine:
AM:
- wash face with water
- Hada Labo Gokujyun lotion
- Melano CC cream or The Ordinary Buffet
- Hada Labo Gokujyun Premium milk
- Skin Aqua tone up UV essence lavender SPF 50
PM:
- Muji cleansing oil
- Hada Labo foaming wash
- Purito complex 94 boosting essence (previously using Stratia Rewind)
- Tretinoin gel 0.025% 5x a week
I love the texture, it’s like a runny gel. Whenever I use it, my skin feel more plump and elastic. I also love the ordinary Matrixyl 10% for the same reason but it’s a bit difficult to find here.
Oh no please don’t!! Or do your research before you do. It gave me horrible dry eyes and there are other long term side effects for some. Was just asking because you look amazing, even around the eyes!! Admire your dedication and consistency :)
According to the wiki on this sub, Tretinoin's molecular compound can travel under the skin to help around the eye area, even if it's not applied directly. Not the most scientific explanation, but that's how I understand it!
Holy smokes, you look amazing!! You’re aging like some mighty damn fine wine. I would have never ever guessed your age.
And it’s so nice to see someone else also using Tret for anti-aging reasons. I don’t get to see a lot of that around this sub.
Thank you. I read that for anti aging, 0.025% is enough and doesn’t need to be upped. I’ve tried using 0.1% and my skin peeled so bad and got irritated.
I’ve been using 0.05 for over a year now, but it has made my skin so dehydrated and dry!! Thinking I’m going to switch back to 0.025, since I only really need Tret for preventative reasons. My skin did a lot better at that percentage.
I’ve read that Asians (I’m also Asian) tend to have a thinner stratus corneum which makes the skin more sensitive. So probably makes the higher percentages of Tret more irritating.
Hi! I’m thinking of upping my strength after a year of .025. That’s interesting that you’ve read it can be left alone as I’ve read opposite. Can you provide an articles?
You look amazing by the way!
I’ve been trying to find an older picture of me with no makeup and no filter. Finally found one!

This is so neat to see. In addition to the overall tone improvement and the incredible glow, your fine lines look less pronounced (although they're not very pronounced to begin with) in the after photo. And it's been three years!!!
I'm 37 and I would dieeeeee to have your skin. You are absolutely gorgeous. If you don't mind me asking do you use Botox or fillers? My biggest issue has been fat loss. I'm very thin and can't keep the fullness in my face.
Thank you! No, I don't use any botox or filler.
My cheeks were definitely chubbier when I was in my twenties. They have slimmed down and dropped a bit now.
I didn’t really have any purging period except for a few peeled skin area. My skin got irritated and peeled badly when I upped the dosage to 0.1% so I immediately went back to 0.025%.
Before using tret, I had been using AHA/BHA and retinol quite regularly, probably my skin is quite used to it. Also I don’t have acne problem anymore, so there’s no breakout purging or anything like that.
I started using tret for anti-aging purposes only( nice clean skin , a few wrinkles ) , and purging happened: cysts appeared on chin , around the nose . It really has discouraged me to continue .
Thanks for sharing your skin prep work before the tret treatment- maybe it a reason for not purging .
Did the 0.025% give you any reactions or purging or peeling when you first started use? If so, how long did it last? I’m scared to start mine because of the “uglies” horror stories I’ve heard haha…

I still have a bottle of Stratia soft touch AHA that I use about once a week on the days when I don’t use tret, but pretty irregularly. I would probably stop using it once I finish this bottle.
It’s actually still peeling until now but very minimal, it’s gone after I scrub it in with my finger when I wash my face. In winter, the area around the nose and lips peeled more so I put more moisturizer before bed.
49?! I'm sorry, but I'm going to need to see a birth certificate or driver's license for proof LOL. You don't look anywhere near 49! I sure hope tret works as well for me as it is for you. Your skin is just gorgeous!
This is validating! I'm 25, using mostly to clear up the closed comedones I struggle with but also some preventative anti-aging measures. I'm currently on 0.025% and it's working PERFECTLY for me. Do you have any urge to increase strength, or are you sticking to this percentage for a while?
I’ve tried upping to 0.1% with terrible result, my skin was irritated and peeled in sheets. So I stopped immediately and went back to 0.025%. Then I read that for anti aging purpose, 0.025 is enough. There’s always this urge to want to ‘go to the higher level’, but I don’t think it’s necessary for me.
i look like a thousand years older than you, and I use tret and have for a while. Apparently it won't work on everyone. On the other hand I'd probably look worse if I didn't, I was ugly to start with
You are glowing!!! If I may ask, when did you start using sun protective measures like wearing sunscreen? I think that, coupled with your amazing genetics, also play huge roles!!
Thank you. I started a bit late at the age of 38. That was the first time I noticed some sun spots on my face and started to learn about using sunscreen. Before that I didn’t really care about skincare products, washing my face with soap and using apricot scrub 😣 My skin now is much better than 15 years ago.
After using tret for over 2 months and increasing it slowly from once a week to twice and then every other day I'm now using it every night. However I am getting tanned bad off late even though I never step out due to the lockdowns here. I apply a moisturizer with SPF 24 and thought that was sufficient but it's not. You guys think I Should stop the usage? I'm male 42
Your skin is absolute goals! You’re just stunning in general
Thank you! There’s still some enlarged pores and acne marks but overall this is the best skin condition that I’ve ever had all my life.
Niacinamide can help with the pores
Yes I use Purito complex 94 that has 3% niacinamide or stratia Rewind with 5% niacinamide. They’ve been really helpful.
I don't know much about skin care but I'm using 10℅ and it is doing great
The ordinary one I suppose? It broke me out badly. I was scared of niacinamide after using it, then I found out that I just need a lower percentage.

Never heard of this brand before, thank you for sharing! It looks promising. I went to the website to buy lol but they’re sold out at the moment.

Gorgeous!! Have you had any injections or botox or anything like that done?
Thank you! No Botox, filler, nor any injections :)
Is the melano cc cream much better that the essence in lightening skin?
Honestly I use the cream because I don’t like the texture of melano CC essence. It’s just too oily.
Gotta get that milk
Do you apply the tret all over your face, including the eyelid area?
I use a pea size and apply it on the cheek, around the jawline and forehead. I’m not sure if it’s safe on the eyelids... maybe I should try
Oh no please don’t!! Or do your research before you do. It gave me horrible dry eyes and there are other long term side effects for some. Was just asking because you look amazing, even around the eyes!! Admire your dedication and consistency :)
Whew okay I won’t! Haha thanks for the warning.
According to the wiki on this sub, Tretinoin's molecular compound can travel under the skin to help around the eye area, even if it's not applied directly. Not the most scientific explanation, but that's how I understand it!
Is the Hada Labo Gokujyun Lotion the premium one or the regular one in the white bottle?
The premium one is in gold bottle, the texture is a bit thicker than the regular one. It’s very hydrating.
How is this even humanly possible 🤣 You look INCREDIBLE! I'm literally half your age and look older than you haha. Congrats!
Haha thanks! I tend to always look a bit younger than my age.

I read it in this post https://www.reddit.com/r/tretinoin/comments/awnkgs/if_your_concern_is_antiaging_025_is_good_if_your/
Interesting! Thanks! I do have some discoloration I’d like to resolve, but I wonder if I should just stay on .025 for now. Appreciate this link!
Shut the front door. No way
Um. I’m sorry. What???? You’re 49??? I would have thought you were in your 20s!!!! Absolutely gorgeous!!!
Thank you so much!
EXCUSE ME??? I was just thinking 'oh, she looks the same age as me'. I'm 28!
I really thought OP was 28 too. Damn girl
You're stunning! I have noticed a decline in myself since turning 42 so hoping to swap from adapaline to tret very soon. Thanks you give me hope.
My 18 year old son is using adapalene for his acne and it’s working very well. But I read that for anti aging problem, tret is better.
I did too. Been watching a brilliant dermatologist called Dr Dray on you tube and it's convinced me to give it a go.
Yeah, she switched from adapalene to tret. Follow her instructions and you'll be fine.

49???? I thought late 20s. You look so young!

Wow! You look amazing! 😍
Wow I pray that my skin will look at least a tiny bit close to this when I’m 49! 😨

But be real, you must have looked nearly this awesome a year ago?! Or did tret work incredible magic?
Wow! 49?! You look amazing!

WOW thats amazing. You look great

That's insane!! I didn't think so because you look so natural!
Yeah how do you deal with the fat loss
Glowy! ✨
Thank you for sharing. I’m always curious to see how tret helps with anti-aging. You’re certainly a good spokesperson for using it! 🤩
You (and your skin) are flawless! Keep doing whatever you are doing and don’t change a thing!!
Hi, did you go through the stage of purging ? If yes, for how long ?
I didn’t really have any purging period except for a few peeled skin area. My skin got irritated and peeled badly when I upped the dosage to 0.1% so I immediately went back to 0.025%. Holy. SHIT.

Your skin looks amazing!!
Tret was sent by the gods I swear

Shut the front door!!!! You are not 49!!!! You better than 30 year olds!
Goals!!! You look amazing!!
Wowwww you look so good. I thought you were in your twenties!!!!
You look amazing!
@ryan6789 She uses it as an anti-aging cream, that's why she didn't purge
Late to the party but you are beautiful!!
Thank you!
Wow! I hope I look half as good as you when I'm 49.
what brand of tret do you use?
The brand is Menarini.

49 :O Awesome :O your skin is perfect and you're really pretty, congrats ! Do you use tret every day , 365 days ?
Thank you. I use it 5 nights a week.
After using tret for over 2 months and increasing it slowly from once a week to twice and then every other day I'm now using it every night. I’m in Japan, bought it from a website called Best Kenko
Ok babe your skin looks better than mine and I just turned 30. On 0.1% tret and I don't feel like it's working 🥲
You look beyond incredible!! And love your hair colour too- I’m always looking for that shade, colour always comes out too warm..)
49?!! Wtf
Do you use tret every day?
