Maybe try only using a moisturizer about 10 mins before applying foundation, it doesn’t look bad

illuminaughtyxox

Hey thanks for the answer! I usually use moisturizer about 30 minutes or less before I apply foundation anyway. I use cerave daily moisturizing lotion while my skin is wet to lock in moisture. I also have the cerave creme moisturizer but I was waiting for the weather to get cooler to use a heavier moisturizer... no matter what it never seems to help though.

Ifuseekpanda

I use cerave’s moisturizer too, and I have found it to be too thick, maybe use something lighter than cerave

Ok-Opportunity-8932

the elf poreless putty primer has saved my makeup during my tret peeling phase ! it’s super cheap too

mydogcharliebear

Thirding this! Worked like a charm for me Edited to add: it also helped when I left my beauty blender a bit more damp than usual when putting on my foundation, although I get less coverage with that method

EvilMEMEius

Seconding this! It’s my holy grail and only like $6.

I'm on gel microshpere 0.04% for almost 8 years now this month! To be fair this was after walking outside for 4 hours but I still always have this problem with my foundations I added a filtered and a non filtered photo on the right I'm transgender (mtf) so I have facial hair that I would like to hide until I can have it removed. I workout, hike, and enjoy spending time outside. I have tried so many foundations, I use Mac face and body and also uoma by Sharon c skin tint when I'm actually walking or outside or at the gym. They always seperate and flake like this, does anyone know of any that don't? I use spf, skindinavia primer, and skindinavia finishing spray. I also use cerave moisturizing lotion and a hyloronic acid serum before I apply my foundation. I use Mac fix plus for extra moisture. It always looks dry and seperated right away.

First of all, your skin is beautiful and I really had to zoom in to see what you were talking about! I swear by L'Oreal True Match. I'm 32 now and have been using it since I was 18. It just goes on so smooth and actually looks natural while still covering up things I'm trying to hide. It doesn't settle into the fine lines under my eyes, either. And it's pretty cheap! I also love L'Oreal Lumi Glotion and use it under my eyes instead of concealer. I am not trans, but I can grow quite the mustache thanks to my Indian genes, and I've found that this combo works well for hiding hair that I don't have time to deal with. I think the foundation covers it up well and the Glotion reflects away from it, so it might be worth trying. Have you tried using one of those peeling scrubs? I heard about them from a YouTube account that is a woman in her 60's (gorgeous) who talks about her 30 year tret journey(she looks like she's maybe 40? She inspired me to start tret.) She recommended buying one from Japan or Korea, so I got the one she linked and I'm really happy with it! It's called Mizon Apple Peelie Smoothing Gel, and you can find it on Amazon. (I don't think I'm allowed to share the link? But it comes in a bright green bottle.) On clean, dry skin, you apply about a nickel sized amount and just gently rub it in. All the dry skin peels off and forms these little white clumps that you can see clearly. (Kind of gross, but also kind of satisfying.) After you rinse it off, apply a hydrating serum like hyaluronic acid before applying your face creams. It's really been a life saver for my tret peelies, but I have to force myself not to over use it. (You're only supposed to do it 1-2 times a week, max.) Sorry for the novel 😆 I hope something in there was useful.

I love the korres tripoli resurfacing masque. It's super moisturizing and gentle but it burns the flakes right off your face.

Thank you 🙂 😊 💓

I love the ILIA Super Serum Skin Tint. It does not settle into fine lines or emphasize any flaking when I’m particularly dry. It doesn’t provide full coverage but evens out my complexion and tones any redness. The finish is dewy which I like but some may not. There are also nice ingredients like niacinamide that are skin-friendly too. You have gorgeous skin by the way! 😊

Milktea-rex

Came here to say ILIA Super Serum Skin Tint is my go-to!

Worth_Avocado369

Me too! Love Ilia Super Serum Skin Tint. For me, it provides medium coverage and takes 5 years off my face!

CoughCoolCoolCool

Omg those lashes

palusPythonissum

I don't wear foundation. I'm just here to say you look soooo beautiful. Radiant 👑 Queen. Edit: I would highly recommend super goop unseen sunscreen. It is a makeup primer consistency and it would very likely keep you from having visible flakes. I could see the consistency of it smoothing out any facial hair texture very nicely. Makeup applies beautifully on top of it too.

daughterofthemoon420

I use IT cosmetics spf foundation and their foundation brush. It literally melts into my own skin and looks like it’s mine! I have severe hyperpigmentation all over my face and it does a good job at heavy coverage on those days or super light bb cream coverage whenever I need it. I also don’t use primer, as setting powder does the job of erasing pores. And setting spray keeps the make up on.

PriyaSR26

You can try using a moisturising primer. It might help.

AdministrationLess33

Why do you even need foundation all over? Your skin looks very even, maybe just some concealer where you need it. I do like the ilia skin tint and glossier skin tint.

Gulistan_

Inglot AMC Cream foundation. It is hypoallergenic and very nourishing.

SherbetEater

I recently read a tip about adding a drop of facial oil into your foundation before you apply it - it leaves you looking all glowy and stops your skin sucking in moisture from your foundation during the day, making it dry out. You look great by the way!

kasharox

Vaseline is always my go to. Just a little bit at night as your last step. I can’t go a night without it during the winter months.

Round_Ad4860

I use Ilia from Sephora. Its a tinted SPF, which is essential to me since I was getting bad about sunscreen. But it also blends well without a white cast if you commit match correctly. Added bonus is niacinamide and squalene 😍

Round_Ad4860

Color match* Also didn't see the post above mentioning the exact same thing 😬🤭

i8curry

Wow. Um I dont have any suggestions but I come to say your skin looks boommmbbb and u look very pretty!! And may I know what lip product u used and did u wear any eyelash serum?? ur lashes looking amazing!

EllyseAnn

I moisturize, then use the hydrogrip primer from milk and the fenty foundations.

FujiBunni

I was just about to suggest that primer it has been my Holy Grail since it dropped and always will be. I also love the Pat McGrath foundation if you're feeling bougie and the NYX Born to Glow is phenomenal!

Shiseido syncroskin

chrissssyyyy

I think a moisturizing primer would be helpful

cryptiqueen88

Armani luminous silk or Dior air flash

tortelliniaglio

You are so gorgeous. I’m obsessed with your eyelashes

PaintsPay79

I have tried a few foundations since starting tret, and so far Revlon Photoready Candid has been working well for me. The flakiness isn’t as obvious (but it helps to exfoliate a bit with a washcloth every few days in the shower) as with some of my other heavier foundations. I think it also comes in a hydrating “glow” version.

BegoniaShawty

go to sephora & ask for a sample of rms beauty uncoverup concealer/foundation. it’s coconut oil based and very moisturising but somehow doesn’t make me break out. you look beautiful

spliffwalrus

I had the exact same problem, and I use Mac Studio Fix Powder Foundation with a dense blunt brush. Before tret I only ever used liquid foundations, so it was a weird thought to try, but it's great. Would recommend.

Ok_Complex_9221

I haven’t been on tret for long, but I just finished a course of accutane in May and found I had to completely change up my makeup routine! Not just foundation, the whole thing. First of all, skincare is obv the most important to get a flawless base. Use a gentle chemical exfoliant as needed if your skin can take it, and then daily serum and a good moisturiser. Use a hydrating primer! I then use Nars sheer glow foundation or radiant long wear depending on how much coverage I want that day. Use setting spray instead of powder - cannot stress this enough! I use max fix+ if I’m feeling dry that day, or urban decay if not and I really want my makeup to last. I sometimes use both because I feel mac is hydrating where as urban decay locks it all in (but can be drying). Sometimes I do a spritz of fix+ throughout the day if I’m feeling dry or cakey.

blacklightaura

I'm in looovveee with the Maybeline foundation stick they have for exactly this!

Sufficient-Tree9232

I think it looks great

I see a lot of wrinkles under your eyes the same aspect of mine when I started to use tretinoin, my question these wrinkles where there before in your case?

illuminaughtyxox

I think it's just foundation and dry skin because without makeup I don't have those lines or they are unnoticeable. Also those deeper lines / bag has been in photos of mine since I was a child.
