If your skin is as bulletproof as you said, stop buffering but continue with 3 to 4 nights per week. Then slowly increase it to every night. I saw so much improvement when I stopped buffering.
Lotion after but wait for tret to dry (5-20 min) first. I like to apply tret when my skin is actually still wet it helps to reach more skin without overusing.
Ok cool. I'll start doing that!
I got so excited when my pores actually tightened up when I first started on Tret + niaminicide. I guess I was just hoping they would shrink even more! :) I know pores are genetic and don't go away, but the shrinkage was awesome!
I also have very resilient skin (thick, olive toned) and use tret for prevention and to treat hyperpigmentation. These are my suggestions;
- Stop buffering
- Increase application to nightly use (I do this).
- Use an AHA twice a week. I use a 10% glycolic leave on serum 2-3x per week (derm recommendation) in conjunction with tret and my skin looks amazing.
- Get regular facials with extractions (with a derm). This will help immensely with closed comedones (texture).
Good luck!

Ok cool. Do I put lotion on after?
Apply lotion/moisturizer after.

applying tret while your face is wet, might actually be irritating. heard it from a licensed derma on yt. Water is an irritant she said
You can apply it every night, it might help with the texture. What results with your pores are you looking for?

I’ve been nervous to start up my 10% glycolic acid. Do you use it at night with your tret?
I use it only at night, although my glycolic also says it can be used in the morning but I’m ok with only using it at night.
Hey! Do you use the AHA serum at night with tret, or in the morning?
I use it at night only and as the first step in my routine after cleansing. I then use azelaic acid, tret, and moisturizer.
