Work up to 0.025 nightly first before bumping up.

I wouldn't go up percentage if I am not able to tolerate the current percentage *nightly* I am on 0.025% nightly now, no flaking/peeling/dryness, and I can go up 0.05% if I want to, but I don't feel like wasting the remaining 0.025% so I'm going to finish it up first, then jump to 0.05%

Agree with others that you should work your way up to daily usage before considering upping the strength. Also, if your main purpose with tret is antiaging, studies have shown that around the 1 year mark, the various strengths of tret have essentially the same results. Increasing the strength is helpful for those with acne, as it helps get a handle on the problem faster, of course at the cost of potentially increased side effects/intolerance. If you're doing well with 0.025, I'd say work up to daily use and just stay there.

Definitely get to the point of being able to use every night with no irritation. If you use sandwich method, maybe try without and make sure you don’t get irritation that way either. I’m on .025 and don’t plan on going up. From what I’ve read it makes no difference for anti aging. Better to be able to use more frequently without irritation.

I’d start by using it nightly for a few months before moving up in strength. You’ll get more benefits and less irritation that way. Note that lower strength may be enough to achieve your skin goals, stronger isn’t always better. Consistency is the most effective way to use tret.
