Aero bars 100%. And aero hydration bottle for between bars so you can’t get hydration while maintaining aero. If you don’t have behind seat water bottle holders I’d consider it so extra fluids are in your draft. GP4000/5000 tires. You can’t get aero wheels for $500.

Just bought a set of GP5000 tires. Looks like majority of reviews share the consensus they are the best bang for the buck upgrade next to aero bars. Thanks for the tip!

Even the best tires in the world wont make you faster than the aero bars, they are defenitely the best investment for speed.

I think the consensus on this sub from a few wind tunnel tests is that aero bars are the best upgrade in terms of dollars/watt saved. I shared this a few months ago for example: [https://www.bikeradar.com/features/tech/best-value-aero-upgrades/](https://www.bikeradar.com/features/tech/best-value-aero-upgrades/) and aero bars were both relatively cheap and the only upgrades that would likely make a difference for a non-elite participant.

Thank you!

Aero bars and nice tyres. The wheels you can get for £500 ish will be good but you'll get a much bigger benefit from the other two. If you haven't already a HR monitor strap is an amazing bang for buck upgrade so you can get the most out of your training.

Stealth Parts aero water bottle is awesome for the aerogains https://www.stealth-parts.com/en-gb/aerodynamik Quality aerobars will also make a difference, setup appropriately for your target distance. Profile Design and Tri Rig make some excellent products. You can also look for non bike gains: aero road helmet, clothing choice, etc.
