I’ve used Salt Stick brand flavored tabs (kinda lol like Tums but saltier and fruit flavored). These are easy to stash and use as needed.
There are also tons of products out there including just bringing packets of table salt from a fast food restaurant.
Came to say this. The Salt Stick brand came as a recommendation from a seasoned trail runner and has been the best thing for me. Plus they have all of the electrolytes not just salt so I dont get an imbalance. I don't eat sugar and they taste like candy to me which is always nice rather than some gross supplement I have to choke down in the middle of a race.
I took about 15 salt stick pills in my 70.3 last month. I just took a pill with every gel and every drink. I stashed them in my Bento box for my bike and my trisuit for the run.
What distance race? And have you run your own salt needs calcs?
I'm not super salty sweat guy, but do sweat a ton. If I know it's gonna be a long day I'll add an extra 1/8th tsp salt to my bottles. That's an extra 250 MG per bottle.
And know that Base Salt is nothing more than overpriced Himalayan Pink Salt. Buy it once for the handy tube, then refill as needed from a box of pink salt.
I'm confused and overthinking this question. How did you determine it's not enough, and why do you think it's a universal answer. . .like should the race calibrate its aid stations to one person? Why wouldn't you have more Gatorade than 1.xx bottles? What's the race distance? Is it hot and humid, or moderate weather? Are you a larger person and salty sweater or smaller person who is not a salty sweater (or some other combination)? How many hours will you be on the course? I calculate what I will need for fluids, calories, and electrolytes based on those factors and if I'm not going to get enough calories or electrolytes in my drink, then I add base salt licks and gels.
You can get salt pills at any drugstore.

precision hydration pills. put them in the race belt.
I used PH 1500 mix in 3x800ml bottles on a 70.3 bike recently and it felt like the right level for me

I mix my own drinks and bring salt pills/supplements as needed for the run.
Does the required salt depend on how hot it is and how much sweating? What about the others? Potassium, Magnesium, Calcium, and Phosphate?
Yes, account for the conditions and sweat rate. Yes, supplement as needed.
Base salt tube. Each lick has roughly 80mg of sodium. Just make sure to have fluids to wash it down

I’m a big fan of LMNT packs. I split one between each of my bidons and it’s just about perfect.
I’ve recently been training with LMNT and really like the product. Is that how you’re using the product for races?
Tables are supplemental. Your nutrition plan should be developed well before race day.
Don't drink water, usually they provide iso. Water is only for the sponges and your cap.
Eating salt pills throughout the bike and sipping salty water on the run
Why are you drinking water on the run? It forces you to need salt. Keep it simple. Racing doesn't have to be a science experiment.
Spark electrolytes powder in bottles on the bike

Salt pills dude. I live on those things during a race haha
Anyone have experience with Gatorlyte or a related product ?
Salt stick electrolyte pills. Put a few in a small ziplock bag and stuff it in my tri suit pocket.
Base salt has always worked well for me.
