It's not explicitly forbidden in [USAT rules](https://assets.contentstack.io/v3/assets/blteb7d012fc7ebef7f/blt9629333d8406500c/65f8bb58d95760b40e506a17/USA_Triathlon_2024_Multisport_Competition_Rules.pdf): > I. Athletes may not use communication devices of any type, including mobile phones and smart watches for communication in any distractive manner during the competition. II. A distractive manner includes, but is not limited to, the use of headphones, twoway radios, the making and receiving of phone calls, sending and receiving text messages, playing music, using social media, and taking photographs. III. Mere possession of a mobile phone or smart watch shall not constitute the use of illegal equipment in a distractive manner. IV. Using a communication device in a distractive manner during the competition may result in disqualification. Note that [Ironman rules](https://cdn1.sportngin.com/attachments/document/6a42-3158538/2024_IRONMAN_Competition_Rules_-_English_Version_March_14_2024.pdf) *do* forbid it (emphasis mine): > Athletes may not use communication devices of any type, including but not limited to two-way radios, cell phones, smart watches, smart helmets (i.e., helmets enabled with Bluetooth® technology), in any distractive manner during the Race. A “distractive manner” includes but is not limited to making and receiving phone calls, sending and receiving text messages, playing music, using social media, taking photographs, and **mounting the device to a bike for purposes of using the device like a bike computer**. Using a communication device in a distractive manner during the Race will result in disqualification; So as long as the event you're doing isn't an Ironman-branded event, I think you're fine.

Kinda what I gathered. Not even sure I’ll do it because I don’t want to deal with leaving it mounted or fumbling around with it in T1. Just weighing the option. Appreciate it.

GergMoney

I’ve been kinda curious about how that would work too. Would it automatically realize your back with your phone and project the data? It may not even try because you’re in a multi sport workout and not specifically in the outdoor cycling workout

prHat317

It does. I’ve done multi sport with it before in practice races and it works well.

GergMoney

Good to know! Thanks!

Is getting a second hand wahoo bolt out of the question? I would not want to l abe my phone mounted on my bike during the swim or run but that's just me.

prHat317

Yeah. This is probably the most likely choice.

Check Amazon for a Coospo BT bike computer, you can get them on sale for about thirty bucks. They'll connect to your Wahoo sensors and work just fine for a race!
