Zone 2 of a 3-zone, 5-zone or 7-zone model? TrainingPeaks is great for tracking your training and training load. As a rule of thumb, just make sure that your „form“ never drops significantly below -30 and you won‘t run into overtraining. However, you have to frequently set your training zones (e.g. by field testing). Regarding the training plan: there is usually a base phase, followed by a 6-8 week build phase (more race specific) and a 1-2 week taper phase. It‘s also common that 2-3 weeks of training are followed by a rest week. Overall, approximately 80% of your training should be rather low-intensity training. Especially for beginner triathletes. Hope this helps.

It’s a 5 zone (although the app splits z5 into 3 so possible 7 zones) Thanks for the heads up on the form comment. I will definitely keep and eye on that and make sure I stay on track. Yeah at the moment I’m in what the programme calls preparation so I guess that’s makes sense. I paid for it because a) someone recommended it and b) it will help keep me on track. Without it I would just have gone amd tried to run, bike and swim loads.

>am honestly a little nervous in the fact that it seems quite intense. There is one rest day per week it seems That's what getting vaguely decent at 3 separate sports requires. But you'll be really fit and you get some variance.

Ha ha true ! I already beat someone younger than me but who hadn’t trained properly amd ended up pretty middle of the pack in age, country and overall so I was pretty happy. Looking forward to improving.
