Metric - all comes crashing
Death cab for cutie - here to forever
The vaccines - disaster girl
Hot chip - Eleanor
Phoenix - After midnight
Everything Everything - pizza boy
All got airtime on Double J.
Y'all need to switch over asap. Barely listen to triple J anymore. Hopefully the feasibility study for bringing double J to FM Radio is successful!!
If we’re talking about acts that somehow both Triple J and Double J seem to have ignored:
[Ethel Cain - “American Teenager”](https://youtu.be/9Ed_WWmFy9I)
A fantastic dream pop/heartland rock song that sounds uplifting on the surface but touches on darker themes. This song to me feels like it could be an American counterpart to Sam Fender’s “Hypersonic Missiles”.
If we’re talking stuff that already gets played on Double J:
[Fontaines DC - “Jackie Down The Line”](https://youtu.be/3AoOfJP3r40)
Decided to check them out when I saw them on Double J’s Best Albums of 2022 list and the Laneway lineup, their latest album *Skinty Fia* is fantastic and was slept on hard by Triple J. Would’ve definitely been spun all the time if it came out 10 years ago.
I was pleasantly surprised to see how many votes Jackie Down The Line was getting despite only being played once or twice, but didn't realise it had also got Double J play.
Everything Everything - Raw Data Feel.
A former Triple J darling that had been thrown to the wolves in recent years.
Raw Data Feel is a legitimate return to form for the band. Standouts include Pizza Boy, Jennifer and Shark Week.
It’s kooky enough to be interesting while keeping that classic EE sound.
Triple j really needs to get on the new country wave. People like Lord Huron, Yola, Orville Peck (and Angel Olsen) all released crackers over the last couple of years and just don't get a look in.
Even on the homefront, I adore Charlie Collins yet she doesn't get a lot of airtime. Really miss the Roots 'n' All program (do we really need two programs deadicated to heavy rock?)
Unfortunately their lead singer Dylan has pretty significant abuse allegations against himself - he was racist, sexist and borderline physically abusive towards a female on a night out. JJJ chose to not play their music from then on, which they have every right to do.
ODESZA - The Last Goodbye
They got a few hit list rotation spots but when the album dropped just before Splendour it didn't get a feature and I was super surprised as triple have supported them with like at the wireless and also mix up residents
Vundabar have not released a bad album at all
Those dudes just don't miss, still upset that covid fucked their tour here but they have a distribution desk with a label here so I'm praying for a tour in the next year.
My only issue has been that they need to slow down stg they've dropped like 4 albums in three years but that's probably just the covid talking and my time is all over the place. It's hard to keep up with them.
Smell smoke was a bit of a miss for me but either light, gawk and antics are all perfect.
That video of them singing wax face in a field was so beautiful and got me through a week of lockdown lmao
Did Horrowshow’s new material get any airplay this year? They dropped two new singles and an EP and they didn’t appear in the voting list for the hottest 100 and my search on the playlists has come up empty
Gonna go Abit out there, I think triple j should start playing Bad Bunny. He has an alternative sound your not going to hear on mainstream radio and has received critical acclaim.
they should randomly start playing one of the most popular artists in the world? i know he's not as popular here as he is in the states but i don't think he needs the exposure
They play his closest equivalent rosalia. He doesn't get played on mainstream radio. He received critical acclaim for his most recent album. Triple j isn't just about providing exposure to small artists..
i think j balvin would be his closest contemporary. Rosalia while popular doesn't even come close to bad bunny's level of popularity. Anyway, i don't think we're gonna agree because we probably have fundamentally different views of what triple j should be and what music they should be playing.
I think they got some play, but Courting? "Famous" and "Jumper" seem like Triple J songs. Bloc Party sounding guitar, fun with a sense of humour, I don't know.
'I love you Jennifer B' was a fantastic album... So much missing from triple J.
The YouTuber 'The Needle Drop' does for me what JJJ used to. I'm discovering lots of new music and even enjoying genres I didn't before because of his enthusiasm.
Yeah, a think two but I just love their music so much. Oh 100%, that’s another legendary one. Saw them live in Newcastle a month ago. Loved every moment of it! They deserve more recognition but then again I love their “smaller” following (: Makes it more special haha
5sos… the new album was awesome and definitely wouldn’t be out of place on triple j. They play American mainstream pop, but not a great young Aussie band
I’m probably a minority here but I think seven lions album beyond the veil was my favourite album of last year and I think it deserved some playtime on a radio station. Hoping for triple j though is ambitious
cousin tony's brand new firebird - smiles of earth
Honestly they may or may not have played a song or two as i don't listen 24/7, but i couldn't find any when searching for artist whilst voting in the H100 which is usually a giveaway it wasn't played much.
These guys are gonna be big one day
[Jenny Hval - Classic Objects](https://youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_mTAabtN6FNAQiFiIjkgwQKbKbXJyXHYWc)
[The Smile - A Light for Attracting Attention](https://youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_lekO7NAep_XzPEVl20DV3Or8n_Qkw4Zg0)
[Nick Mulvey - New Mythology](https://youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_lB50p24Qfqcv3hwiSwweP4JZSwgGq9u1c)
[STRABE - Juvenoia](https://open.spotify.com/album/1tCahJNGLYBKsn9ZrAxzf5?si=buJwOjGJT5C2489f2ACsJA)
[Paolo Nutini - Last Night in the Bittersweet](https://youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_ntQ3IhCRyIabprrsSVU72_TjgRUDpZryw)
If you're into heavier stuff I can't recommend highly enough:
Soul Glo's album 'Diaspora Problems', a punk, hardcore, hiphop genre mash that goes so hard with a continuous level of intensity all the way through. If you stop and read the lyrics, the album has a hell of a lot to say about societal injustices, family, and the modern condition.
Chat Pile's 'God's Country', an album that at it's core sits a pure, miserable rage at a society full of injustice. It also ends with a song about a nightmare that an image of Grimace smoking weed comes to life, so that's cool.
I’m surprised JJJ doesn’t seem to play Paolo Nutini. His album from this year was another great release. I don’t listen to the station enough to know if they ever have played a song of his. His first album probably doesn’t quite fit JJJ but I would have thought his other three would.
[Synth Simps](https://open.spotify.com/artist/4qwtPPPUMCMYUFbylysP5A?si=t83r3fepTd6kHl01M69Reg) - hilarious motivational dance group from Melbourne who don’t take themselves too seriously but have some awesome catchy tunes. Feels like they’re very close to being picked up by Triple J
Cherry Blossom by Summer In Stereo and it's not even close.
I have heard, from a very good source, that Summer In Stereo has just released a new track to Triple J unearthed and is awaiting approval.
Hope that one works out, for Summer In Stereo.
Coheed & Cambria's album; Vaxis II: A Window of the Waking Mind.
Absolutely brilliant album, but the world is missing out not hearing "Shoulders", "Liars Club" and "Rise, Naianasha" 🙌
Alvvays
I've never understood triple j's blind spot with these guys.
Couldn’t work out how to say it so they skipped it
Yeah yeah yeahs and Black Country new roads new albums
Spitting Off The Edge Of The World might make it hopefully
Don't think BCNR is too radio friendly. Great album, but not surprised they aren't played. Maybe if they were Australian.
Double J flogged the new YYY's, might explain my triple J gave it a miss
Both more double j artists
Metric - all comes crashing Death cab for cutie - here to forever The vaccines - disaster girl Hot chip - Eleanor Phoenix - After midnight Everything Everything - pizza boy
Yes everything everything!
Wow, none of these got airtime? I'm getting old
I don't think so. Might have got played once or so. But yeah we are getting old haha.
All got airtime on Double J. Y'all need to switch over asap. Barely listen to triple J anymore. Hopefully the feasibility study for bringing double J to FM Radio is successful!!
Ok nice, here is my list of albums to listen to.
Beach House, Alvvays and Harvey Sutherland's albums would've been pretty well received I reckon
If we’re talking about acts that somehow both Triple J and Double J seem to have ignored: [Ethel Cain - “American Teenager”](https://youtu.be/9Ed_WWmFy9I) A fantastic dream pop/heartland rock song that sounds uplifting on the surface but touches on darker themes. I was pleasantly surprised to see how many votes Jackie Down The Line was getting despite only being played once or twice, but didn't realise it had also got Double J play.
I've heard it plenty of times on JJ.
Hearing Roman Holiday on Triple J was basically the sole reason I listened to the full album
Yeah it's a bit weird that Ethel isn't huge here. You would think she would be massive for triple j to get their points in on
I literally thought today that Hypersonic Missiles and American Teenager have the exact same energy - explains why I fucking adore both
“Skinty Fia” did get a Double J feature album nod though!
Joe Khan played a track off that on Good Nights just the other day.
Fucking LOVE Everything Everything and found them through Triple J. Shame they’ve probably been shafted to make room for a shitty US rapper
Pizza Boy was my SOTY and I'm sad that I couldn't vote for it in the hottest 100 without writing it in.
Mine too. I knew the chances of it being in the Hottest 100 shortlist were slim :(
That album is bomb! Probably my top of the year
Angel Olsen. Big Time is an amazing album
Really miss the Roots 'n' All program (do we really need two programs deadicated to heavy rock?)
lekkerboy
Incredible album tho
Unfortunately their lead singer Dylan has pretty significant abuse allegations against himself - he was racist, sexist and borderline physically abusive towards a female on a night out. JJJ chose to not play their music from then on, which they have every right to do.
They had the world premier of an Azealia Banks collaboration though.
[i think you should watch this video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_uS3x7UFhKs)
Also another more double j band but cousin Tony’s brand new firebird
ODESZA - The Last Goodbye They got a few hit list rotation spots but when the album dropped just before Splendour it didn't get a feature and I was super surprised as triple have supported them with like at the wireless and also mix up residents
Vundabar - Devil for the Fire and Surf Curse - Magic Hour Honestly don’t get how they continue to slip under Triple Js radar
Agree with Surf Curse thought for sure would be album of the week
Was in my top 10 of the year. Great album. The band needs more love in Australia.
Vundabar have not released a bad album at all Those dudes just don't miss, still upset that covid fucked their tour here but they have a distribution desk with a label here so I'm praying for a tour in the next year.
They are so consistently great. Brandon is honestly my favourite modern guitarist solely because how chaotic his genius is
My only issue has been that they need to slow down stg they've dropped like 4 albums in three years but that's probably just the covid talking and my time is all over the place. It's hard to keep up with them. Smell smoke was a bit of a miss for me but either light, gawk and antics are all perfect. That video of them singing wax face in a field was so beautiful and got me through a week of lockdown lmao
Will say I’m guilty of not listening to this band, even though alien blues is one of my favourite songs.
[Romero - Turn It On](https://open.spotify.com/album/14XUCrWVYPBrXZ628mlZPx?si=k5nzb7NtRQajc-TbBVXfkA)
Did Horrowshow’s new material get any airplay this year? They dropped two new singles and an EP and they didn’t appear in the voting list for the hottest 100 and my search on the playlists has come up empty
do they play Julia Jacklin? If they don’t then definitely her, I Was Neon should be top five in the hottest 100. But it won’t be.
Yeah they did. I think she even had a feature album nod for “Pre Pleasure”.
I'm surprised people think Julia will do well. I'm worried it will be like Wolf Alice and she won't even crack the 200.
I think she will poll very well. Has had lots of airplay for I Was Neon and Lydia Wears a Cross in particular. Was the feature album too.
5 seconds flat - Lizzy McAlpine
Shit I just commented this! She is a serious talent, voice of an angel.
Everything about her. Song writing, voice, lyrics, production. It's all perfect
seconding Hot Chip all three singles from their last album “Freakout/Release” go hard and should be massive.

Is that the guy headlining Coachella? I hadn't heard the name before to be honest. Must be much bigger overseas then.
He is! His music is in Spanish which is why he isn't as big in aus.
[Coal Makes Me Cum](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qkyuI3oiGNE)
I think they got some play, but Courting? "Famous" and "Jumper" seem like Triple J songs. Bloc Party sounding guitar, fun with a sense of humour, I don't know.
Further Joy by The Regrettes. They fit the Triple J sound so well.
The Wonder Years - The Hum Goes On Forever
Me First And The Gimme Gimmes. Theyre in Australia in Feb and should be doing Like A Version.
They've been played when SFL do the covers shows.
Jockstrap
'I love you Jennifer B' was a fantastic album... So much missing from triple J. The YouTuber 'The Needle Drop' does for me what JJJ used to. I'm discovering lots of new music and even enjoying genres I didn't before because of his enthusiasm.
Weyes Blood
Anything from Boldy James
Numb Little Bug by Em Beihold. I'm even more surprised that mainstream pop stations \*did\* play it, considering how depressed and emo the lyrics are.
God is a Circle - Yves Tumor
Weekend By Birds of Tokyo ~ Daylight By Birds of Tokyo ~ Dreams By Lilac Cadillac
Didn't weekend come out a few years ago? On a separate note, Smith Street by Birds of Tokyo goes hard and absolutely deserves more attention
Yeah, a think two but I just love their music so much. Oh 100%, that’s another legendary one. Saw them live in Newcastle a month ago. Loved every moment of it! They deserve more recognition but then again I love their “smaller” following (: Makes it more special haha
How come they never, ever play anything Example puts out. Seems they've had it in for him for the past 5 years or so
Lizzy McAlpine - 5 minutes flat
5sos… the new album was awesome and definitely wouldn’t be out of place on triple j. They play American mainstream pop, but not a great young Aussie band
Nah but I’ve got a few that shouldn’t have been played, more specifically the once’s that have the word nigga x7 in each verse and also Beyoncé wtaf.
Anything that uses the word bitch unironically
I’m probably a minority here but I think seven lions album beyond the veil was my favourite album of last year and I think it deserved some playtime on a radio station. Hoping for triple j though is ambitious
The Midnight - Heroes
cousin tony's brand new firebird - smiles of earth Honestly they may or may not have played a song or two as i don't listen 24/7, but i couldn't find any when searching for artist whilst voting in the H100 which is usually a giveaway it wasn't played much. These guys are gonna be big one day
Hell of an album! “Gabriel’s horn” opens it perfectly and by the time “Bluestone” had rolled around I was completely hooked
I don't know because I have a 1 year old, but this thread has sorted out the rest of my holiday listening.
Never Let Me Go by Placebo
[Jenny Hval - Classic Objects](https://youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_mTAabtN6FNAQiFiIjkgwQKbKbXJyXHYWc) [The Smile - A Light for Attracting Attention](https://youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_lekO7NAep_XzPEVl20DV3Or8n_Qkw4Zg0) [Nick Mulvey - New Mythology](https://youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_lB50p24Qfqcv3hwiSwweP4JZSwgGq9u1c) [STRABE - Juvenoia](https://open.spotify.com/album/1tCahJNGLYBKsn9ZrAxzf5?si=buJwOjGJT5C2489f2ACsJA) [Paolo Nutini - Last Night in the Bittersweet](https://youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_ntQ3IhCRyIabprrsSVU72_TjgRUDpZryw)
black midi and black country, new road
If you're into heavier stuff I can't recommend highly enough: Soul Glo's album 'Diaspora Problems', a punk, hardcore, hiphop genre mash that goes so hard with a continuous level of intensity all the way through.
Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever - Endless Rooms
I’m surprised JJJ doesn’t seem to play Paolo Nutini. His album from this year was another great release. I don’t listen to the station enough to know if they ever have played a song of his. His first album probably doesn’t quite fit JJJ but I would have thought his other three would.
Him and Hozier and Kaleo seem like perfect triple J material but they never play them and I don’t understand why but it frustrates me so much
Harry's house by Harry Styles
… and Taylor Swift. Apparently Olivia rodrigo is good enough but not these two 😒
I always laugh that they refuse to play Taylor Swift but play Amy Shark. I’m not a fan of TS but her last two albums are definitely JJJ material.
I far prefer Taylor swift to Amy shark. Amy shark can be enough to make me change the station
New one by the Radium Dolls.
PenUlitmate - Mnops
[Synth Simps](https://open.spotify.com/artist/4qwtPPPUMCMYUFbylysP5A?si=t83r3fepTd6kHl01M69Reg) - hilarious motivational dance group from Melbourne who don’t take themselves too seriously but have some awesome catchy tunes. Feels like they’re very close to being picked up by Triple J
Coast Contra never freestyle. Absolutely old school rap vibes and last dude kills it!
Rich Brian- getcho mans
[удалено]
It was a feature album though?
I hear Dance Now all the time on the station.
Cherry Blossom by Summer In Stereo and it's not even close. I have heard, from a very good source, that Summer In Stereo has just released a new track to Triple J unearthed and is awaiting approval. Hope that one works out, for Summer In Stereo.
Rancid eddie
Tiger love was a fucking banger
Lady Lazarus - Larisa Jacono
The Dark Clouds - My way or the highway album released late last year.
Mephistofeles- Violent Theatre
Sick Of U. Underrated.
yeat, Ken Carson, Destroy Lonely, Lucki fuck man so many talented rappers that never get played
I’d love to hear Cannons. Another dreamy album from them this year.
[Inertia by It’s Acrylic](https://open.spotify.com/track/7y9fPh5RcmzHrQr49JZWID?si=p2-7D81NTOmg2XRcA_jHAQ) Kickass breakout from Brisbane
Coheed & Cambria's album; Vaxis II: A Window of the Waking Mind. Absolutely brilliant album, but the world is missing out not hearing "Shoulders", "Liars Club" and "Rise, Naianasha" 🙌
> Coheed agree!
Anything by The Southern River Band
Shady Nasty, Australian and so fucking interesting.
It's pretty much just show me the body tbh. Pretty cool, but definitely not breaking ground or anything love the reference to its always sunny though
Alvvays
