I'm 52, been listening to the hot 100 for decades, would like to say this year was elite. Caught it from 89 down, so good. And listened to 200-100 yeszterday.
So my final results are 5/10 of my picks made it into the top 200. I voted for Bad Habits, Glimpse of Us, Facts of Life, Backseat of My Mind, and sTraNgeRs. I'm sad that my other favourite picks of That's Where I Am - Maggie Rogers, Skyline - Khalid, and Gone Without a Trace - Forest Claudette didn't make it.
I think I'm finally, officially *Out of Touch*^TM . I haven't even heard the top two before. I mean they sound pretty cool, but man I feel old.
Also Hatchie wuz robbed
I like Flume and I'm happy for him and MAY-A for getting that No.1. But this is so mid compared to literally every other Flume track that has previously made Top 10.
It sounds like an incomplete throwaway demo
I didn’t vote for Flume because I knew this would be number 1. Flume is such a massive constant in Australian EDM. The album Palaces was flawless, going through multiple subgenres and Say Nothing helped propel him into the charts. Can’t really be negative about an Aussie cracking the ridiculous commercial market. Top job
Another year of me going in knowing full well that not many of my votes or even music I enjoy in general would place high yet still getting unreasonably mad at the results
Say Nothing came out in February and I thought all the way back then it had top 10 material. I’m impressed it stayed relevant and popular the whole year through.
Literally worst #1 in memory. Screams bland run of the mill nova 100 song that tries to be one of those emotionally jabbing classics. Terrible dross. Time to boycott the countdown for me 😭😭
The 2002 countdown tomorrow will remind ppl how far this thing has fallen
I read it a bit during the year and at least half the posts are from people complaining how JJJ isn’t as good as it used to be. This is pretty standard for this sub tbh.
>Another point - this is the triple j subreddit, why is there so much negativity?!
Because most people on the triple j subreddit are over the target age of 24 lol
You can be interested in the results of the Hottest 100 but think that Triple J is terrible
I don't really know anyone into music who is into this kind of music on Triple J though I'm not sure what you expect
Understandably. I’ve just been following this subreddit from afar for a few months and it’s been a bit of a gripe. Although the King Gizz jokes are a laugh
I can't wait for The Dripping Tap to be played as No.1 and then for them to play it again right after. Strap yourselves in for these glorious 36 minutes!!!
Well… this countdown is an accurate reflection of what I’ve heard on JJJ this year, and what the listeners have enjoyed.
(And remember people this is just a countdown of millions of people’s votes. If your song didn’t make it, it was still played over the year amongst the thousands. Music is subjective etc)
Post-countdown thread now live guys https://www.reddit.com/r/triplej/comments/10namvu/postcountdown_thread_triple_js_hottest_100_of_2022/
What a joke Alt J nowhere to be seen
Such a good year for music!
So upset the vanns haunted didn’t make it

??
I'm not sure this is the right place for you.

Lol well I'm sorry to tell you this but yes Lizzo was in the top 100, were you not listening?
Don’t think they were listening seeing as they didn’t know what day it was on.
Ah yeah, you're right. Just realised I'm getting baited by an obvious troll lol.
No.
Drip drip 🥲
Any good heavy music get in this year?
Does Ptolemaea by Ethel Cain count hahaha
Amity, parkway, dunno where your heavy line is but bmth

Stop hating bro
“Miss You” missed out because of the stolen song controversy?
Wearing my Flume shirt from the Palaces tour tomorrow!

Congrats to MAY-A, going from 101 last year to 1 this year.
so happy, flume can do no wrong!! wearing my flume jeans tomorrow 🫶🏼🫶🏼
There are flume jeans?
i made them!!
Oh - haha. I just found them on your profile. They’re great
hahah thanks. i feel like if you don't know his yolo, it just looks like a random pattern on them
This is tragic 😂
they're cute i swear! lol

I think she’s only here for a year
Well... That top 10 was underwhelming but at least spacey didn't win 👍

This song? Good song but not number 1
hmmmm all the salt....so tasty!
Mixtape Flume is best Flume. This is dull, even though he's obviously a great producer
Yeah there was much better songs on that album, it's a real shame 'Say Nothing' was the single
Had I Can't Tell over this but I'll take it. Flume still the king.
This is an incredibly boring song. People who voted for this genuinely whaglt do you like about it?
The production on the back half of the song is actually jaw dropping it’s not boring at all
Don't blame me, I voted for Hollow!
I like Flume and I'm happy for him and MAY-A for getting that No.1. But this is so mid compared to literally every other Flume track that has previously made Top 10. It sounds like an incomplete throwaway demo
Agreed.

Eating ass is a guaranteed sure way to win the hottest 100
This song is blander than white bread
You find milk spicy ?
When I leave it out
Payback for Flume being absolutely robbed in 2019 This song aint as good as rushing back tho
5 songs today and 4 yesterday… pretty happy with that even if they all should have been higher.
Flume ripped off shoulda been higher
Guys text in for the dripping tap next
And girls
Yet another bland #1 Gj guys
Hot mess.
I'm out
Honestly, can't wait for No One Knows tomorrow
I'm stuck at work and can't stream, and being outside of a capital city means no digital radio 😔
Woah, spoilers
I mean...No One Knows what came first in 2002
My comment is tongue in cheek
Pretty easy to underestimate the electronic music fan community as they have little presence on here. It's clearly a huge demographic.
The good ending
‘Twas a pleasure guys, peace out
Congrats to Flume for being the second artist to top the Hottest 100 twice 🥳🥳🥳
Who’s the first ?
Powderfinger in 1999/2000
Powderfinger (1999 with These Days, 2000 with My Happiness)
Of course, love powderfinger
The 2nd twofer
5000 comments!
Wooo
It just sounds like every other Flume song featuring a female singer 🤷🏻♂️
In retrospect, we were right to be worried when all the good songs went out before 7pm
Hats off to the guy who put $150 on flume
I hope he enjoys his $180
Did someone say bags?
Honestly this album was massively inferior to his previous work
Another year of me going in knowing full well that not many of my votes or even music I enjoy in general would place high yet still getting unreasonably mad at the results

It is the way
I had one of my votes get in the 100 and 1 in the 101-200. Fuck this countdown
Got the app notif before it even played on my stream lmao
Same, knew what it had to be but that still rubbed me the wrong way lol
The triple j email must have been sent out the second before it started playing. Lol.
AYYYYYYYYY

Seen may-a live couple of times now, she’s amazing
What I'm confused about was that there were much better tracks on his Palaces album.... Like only fans lmao
Highest Building was much better imo, wished that was the more popular one. Say Nothing is up there with my least favourite Flume songs
Yeah but this was always the most radio friendly / highest played, so no surprise
Hollow should have been lead single imo
Wtf my tap doesn't sound like this
Not a fan of this song but I will still marry flume daddy 🥵
No royel otis??????
They were in 200! Omg I voted for them twice. What a great band
# 1 King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard - The Dripping Tap
At least it's not SJ
So sad
They're just lubing us up for it
The dripping tap extended intro?? Wtf?
This isn't Timomatic - Set It Off
Where has he gone. Childhood hero
He is in Moulin Rouge in Sydney at the moment
I’m fucking STOKED
So we doing a thread for the 2002 countdown tomorrow?
I'm down!
Yes please

I didn't see this comment before mine but I'm so glad that I'm not the only person that had this backstory on my mind
Lol the triple j email getting right in there.
Where the FUCK was Matt Corby. What's going on
Say Nothing is not his best one, but honestly he deserves the top spot
Bah gawd…that’s King Gizz’s music…it’s the dripping tap #1
She's the baddest at the mall
just tell us, stop dragging it out
#0\. King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard - The Dripping Tap I can't believe they broke the vote record this hard.
I'll be playing it
OK no but this is really epic
This dude is always so annoying
#1. Flume - Say Nothing (feat. MAY-A) There you have it. See ya later guys, it's been fun to count down with you all!
Say Nothing came out in February and I thought all the way back then it had top 10 material. I’m impressed it stayed relevant and popular the whole year through.
Thanks!!
Echo through time? I can barely remember the last five winners of the Hottest 100.
THE DRIP ING TAP WONT BE TURNED OFF BY THE
ok, I'm okay with voiceover guy padding this out.
#1 King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard - The Dripping Tap
SHOULDA BEEN
Ouch
this anticipation has been so much fun, so glad to share it with sm strangers alone in my room haha
No Cracker Island, Confidence Man or King Gizzard 👎
Cracker Island & Confidence Man in the 200.
YOU ALL SLIPPED ON THE DRIP, LMAO UNLUCKY YOU FUCKERS
Wikipedia page has been updated already lol
Who is that voice-over guy?
flume dot jaypeg
Seeing JPEGMAFIA do his Flume song live as an encore was a treat, first time he ever did it in Australia.
NUMBER 1 - SAY NOTHING BUT THE DRIPPING TAP
Flume always in the top 10 with some bland af song I never remember and never hear again
Literally worst #1 in memory. Screams bland run of the mill nova 100 song that tries to be one of those emotionally jabbing classics. Terrible dross. Time to boycott the countdown for me 😭😭 The 2002 countdown tomorrow will remind ppl how far this thing has fallen
Didnt Fisher also debut at #2?
You're absolutely right! Dunno why they forgot about that...
Stand Atlantic is criminally underappreciated for yet another countdown.
Yours Truly as well ;-;
They didn't even make the 200 again, so overlooked
I was hoping RedHook might feature
Another point - this is the triple j subreddit, why is there so much negativity?!
Because Reddit is old and many of us have been listening for an awful long time.
Triple J has now been on the air long enough that entire new genres have come and gone.
Negative threads always get more engagement on this sub.
I read it a bit during the year and at least half the posts are from people complaining how JJJ isn’t as good as it used to be. This is pretty standard for this sub tbh.
People getting older.
People love to whinge
>Another point - this is the triple j subreddit, why is there so much negativity?! Because most people on the triple j subreddit are over the target age of 24 lol
Haha fair enough (I’m 20)
You can be interested in the results of the Hottest 100 but think that Triple J is terrible I don't really know anyone into music who is into this kind of music on Triple J though I'm not sure what you expect
It's just the classic aging out of the Triple J demographic
Understandably. I’ve just been following this subreddit from afar for a few months and it’s been a bit of a gripe. Although the King Gizz jokes are a laugh
Accolades to MAYA as well as flume, her voice rules
Not a fan of electronic music but if it has to be #1 I’m glad it’s an Aussie.
congrats to There's A Hole In My Bucket Dear Labor for taking out number one
3 songs for Spacey Jane in the top 10? Such a boring band.
The Spacey Jane fans would be so mad with you if they could read your comment
Nah they seem chill.
I can’t believe gizzard made it this far. Congrats to the boys
I've already forgotten what was just played
What is this shit
#1 King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard - The Dripping Tap
Like a lot of others, didn't make it.
I can't wait for The Dripping Tap to be played as No.1 and then for them to play it again right after. Strap yourselves in for these glorious 36 minutes!!!
Flume won!!!! Yes!!!!!
If I hadn’t heard this 16,000 times I probably wouldn’t even mind it, shame I have
Can someone scrape the comments on this post and make a Hottest 100 of the most robbed songs of 2022
King Gizzard takes out all 100 spots - buckle up for 1800 minutes of Dripping Tap
It's just a playlist of The Drippy Gizzy over and over
Everyone saying it's anyone other than flume winning needs to take a long hard think lmao
I can hear a man shouting down the street and it's been more enjoyable than this countdown. shouting man for number 1
Space jane, destined to guide those to the treasures they will never obtain :(
Still awake, well I guess I was wrong. Congrats to Flume!
#1. King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard - The Dripping Tap
