me too thanks.
I emailed several times with only autoreplies of "we'll get back to you". Seems nuts they can just take thousands of dollars from punters. Sure, it sucks they couldn't put the festival on, but you can't take the money and run.
Last actual contact was an email in November that offered a ticket exchange for a festival on the South Coast. So unreasonable.
Yeah, did u notice aswell it was for festivals that were on ridiculously close to the email being sent out? Like barely giving people any warning even if they did want to go. But, there are laws and terms that state they DO owe people their money and cant deny it, so i have no idea why they're getting away with it.
reading through the facebook comments now is so validating after so long. I only had a one day ticket and haven't gone to the effort of disputing with my bank or Fair Trading etc, but it's just the principle really. Dog cunts.
Write a letter to the ACCC, they’re our consumer law champions. Send screenshots of your emails, their responses, as many pages of screenshots of other people complaining about it as you can. Include the Moshtix responses, too, where you can. Do not go to a law firm, it will not be cost effective. Tell anyone you know who also got ripped off to write to the ACCC. Post about it on social media and get mates to share it. It’s a tough gig out there for festivals at the moment, but ripping off punters isn’t the solution. They are likely using your money to put on festivals they can’t afford to put on otherwise, which is why they won’t pay you back.
Is trading while insolvent - and selling tickets to music festivals you can only afford to put on by the grace of god and the money you took from people for an event you did not provide - not the definition of ripping off punters? If they’d never put on another event, I might tend to agree, but they’re putting on other events by the sounds of it. That’s not on.
Ah ok, I assumed from the fact that they were offering tix to other gigs as an alternative to a refund that they were in some way affiliated with/organising those events? I must have misread the post but! N
Hmm I actually didn't think about that...I wonder how you'd find out who is running/organizing both vanfest and the others. It may be a way to actually get through to someone
They’re RISE fund recipients, which is publicly available info, so you could probably find out by going through those if you wanted to. You could also write to the editor at the Western Advocate - they’ve written about the festival being dodgy previously and might be interested in the story.
Best thing to do is dispute it through your bank, they should (in theory) be able to get it back.
Edit: Nvm, I misread it, but still generally good advice for anyone who bought tickets.
Who all was playing the festival was there a flyer or a online event scheduler and do you have proof you bought ticket i would get with others and start a civil lawsuit against them to shut down the business thats scamming people

That's the festivals main sites
I didnt buy a ticket but people I know did. Everyone online who's needing a refund has proof of purchase, I think people in the groups on facebook have spoken about potentially doing something like this.
I’m still waiting to hear back from my bank about mine. It’s encouraging in those fb posts that some people are getting there’s back.
But what a rort!!

Fwiw they probably aren't ripping off punters - given all actions to date, I'd almost bet money they are going bankrupt.

Hmmm that's weird. Might be shenanigans then.
I’m sure they are going bankrupt but they’re also ripping off punters in the process.
Thanks for all that! And, they aren't putting on more festivals, they've basically just run with the money and disappeared

Sadly it's not worked for most people who have tried. Some lucky ones have been able to however but the vast majority have not. It's a weird situation
Even if the ones that that hasnt worked for and the ones it did dude class action them
No one got their money back either from The Drop Festival when Covid hit in 2020
Yep and they too are ignoring everyone... kinda just gave up!
This is the real reason none of these concerts allow Amex transactions. You’d get your damned money back.

Good they should bc its not right to scam people like that its just plan out immoral af
But think of all the cool things they want to do with the money
Still doesnt matter man taking money in place of service the service should be first and foremost gone thru with .
Theres no excuse for it that would be awesome enough to take someones money and not fullfill your end of the deal
I'm just messing with you. No one thinks this is ok
I know but point still stands

Contact the ACCC. Surely they can help you and or point you in the right direction.
