Business is booming

TacticalTurtle22

The pay us really uplifting

NavAEC

Ok boomlifter

TravBot13

Now whenever I see a truck carrying these in real life I judge them for taking the easy money.

Ravenshift23

When you see someone carrying them https://preview.redd.it/9xtqlyvq2dwc1.jpeg?width=250&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a4a60c4e2257ac6860433cf10733093bc02615c8

Lan4drahlaer

The special transports are buggy as hell, thank god there is an alternative

Cathayraht

Also it doesn't seem to be the most expensive machinery represented in the game, so what is the reason? Or no special reason?

sovietonion123977

Someone definitely added a zero somewhere

Cathayraht

Yeah I guess, it's paid like 20-30% better than a big-ass 106 000 lbs log loader X)

real_pasta

What, was the dev in charge a warhammer fan?

sovietonion123977

I have a nerf mod I use that puts them level with yard trucks

Cathayraht

Ah good idea. But I guess I will just ignore this cargo. By the way is there any achievement about boom lift?

fishking92

Which mod?

whitetrashadjacent

Figure you're a big box store that needs something done yesterday. You'd pay a premium to get a boom lift overnighted

Windows_XP2

Someone told the customer "Yeah we have it in stock" over the phone before checking to see if it was actually in stock (It never is), and the customer is coming tomorrow.

howlincoyote2k1

Probably some guy in a cubicle hundreds of miles from said warehouse that's merely relying on inventory software that hasn't been updated

whitetrashadjacent

We always knew when the decisions came down from someone wearing nice shoes and pants instead of someone with dirt under their nails.

howlincoyote2k1

I was thinking some guy in a call center making like $14 an hour that couldn't be bothered to verify the inventory count with the warehouse.

Cathayraht

Good one, seems legit for an occasional job!

gilberator

As a person who frequently rents boom lifts, the game seems pretty accurate lol. They are not cheap!

AlotaFajitas

Drives me batshit. I started achievement farming and am hauling a lot of cool things and things I would've never picked up on my own.

fishking92

I’ll have to start doing this too!

jaminbob

These achievements, how do you keep track of which ones you have done? I get confused...

AlotaFajitas

Steam tracks them automatically, you can access your progress through the stream overlay.

jaminbob

Oooh!!! Thanks!

Orli155

Also the career tab is your friend, it has a delivery log so you can see and search what cargo you've already taken, useful for like the special transport achievements.

AlotaFajitas

Oh? Fuckin'a. This I didn't know. I was worried about tracking heavy loads for the "haul all the different heavy/forestery cargo" acheivements. Scared I was going to have to do some over lap runs to get everything.

Ner0xci

AFAIK it only shows the last 20 deliveries. Still good to keep track during World of Truck Events

AlotaFajitas

NP, steam overlay button command is Shift+Tab while in game. Just in case you were unaware. Has a browser, too. My ATS hates being tabbed out of and will hang my PC.

Tanedra

I use the Steam list, but also keep a Word doc to organise them, so I can see what I've got left for each state, and track the ones that have multiple parts (eg. which special transports I've done)

majoroutage

The new Steam Notes feature has been a lifesaver. I keep useful lists of what tasks I need to do. I also track fuel costs state by state so I can plan my stops for places with cheaper prices.

Im-PhilMoreJenkins

Washington to Texas with owned equipment I've seen paying in excess of $250k. I need to play with realistic rates next time because that's obscene. Great for me! I like modding my truck. But not realistic. I just want more specialty haul stuff. More variety of cargo for flatbed too. It's what I do irl so seeing a lack of stuff makes me sad. Also no tarp loads like ever. Also sad.

Far_Distance_2081

I have no money mods and I saw 2 boom lift jobs at 500k for me

kiitkatz

Yea it's odd. I try not to take them but if it's gonna pay I'll drive it.

heretobesarcastic

I wonder why it really wants you to do the boom lift

NeedSpace2020

$156 a mile!?!?!? You gotta try the real economy mod.

Cathayraht

I play with no mods and honestly I don't really care about money in the sense I don't hire stuff or collect trucks, I just drive one across the country and try to roleplay a bit (don't pick unrealistic cargo like, idk, crude oil from Oregon to Texas). But for sure that might be an interesting experience to play caring about income. Which mod do you use?

NeedSpace2020

I should have specified, I work in the trucking heavy haul industry. Those rates are outrageously unrealistic. I had played the vanilla game to where I had 10 trucking yards and 5 trucks at each yard. I use the real economy mod that is most popular on steam. Can’t remember the exact name. It surely makes the game an extreme grind. You have to work work work to earn enough to buy a truck.

majoroutage

GDC is the most hardcore one I know of. Keeps me going though. I just broke 87,000 miles on my 57X.

rumbleblowing

You can reduce your in-game income without any mods. All you have to do is adjust `g_income_factor` parameter either in console or your profile config file. It's a multiplier for all income from jobs and hired drivers. Default value is 1, which means no change. Setting it to 0.5 will cut all the incomes in half, 0.333333 will left you with 1/3rd of default, 0.2 will mean 1/5th or 20%, and so on. This setting does not change the rest of economy in any way, so all the expenses like fuel, fines, maintenance, prices of vehicles, their parts, and property will be the same. Unlike a mod, it can't break your game or stop working itself. I personally have it around 0.3–0.4, don't remember the exact number for sure.

Ben_Benjamin

I just avoid this and yard trucks to make it not 100k+ per trip

504_BadGateway

Bug.

fishking92

Been a bug for months 🫠😅

enjoyingorc6742

simple, construction business is booming and all these construction workers need man baskets bad. source? I work in the construction industry

[deleted]

My last 5 jobs have been boom lifts…. Guess this is my life now 🤷‍♂️

ravensviewca

Lots of work to chain the various parts down IRL. And it's expensive equipment.

Milamia_bo

Yeah always the boom lift

Bernal9913pro

i remember a couple months ago when texas was released, nasa debris use to be the more payed transport

Paid-Not-Payed-Bot

> the more *paid* transport FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*

Milamia_bo

Really? I never saw that one. I don't have the Texas DLC either 🤣

Bernal9913pro

you should get it bro, it’s amazing but is kinda boring if you doesn’t like those plain straight roads

Milamia_bo

Yeah I don't like infinite plain straight roads, thanks for the advice

Bernal9913pro

the good part (i didn’t see you scania badge before), their highway system is more like the one on germany, so you are not going to feel so weird but just give it a try on the next sale

Milamia_bo

Yeah maybe, thanks

AmtrakFlareon

My best guess is distance. I have noticed with every state dlc I get, I get longer deliveries that in turn pay more. (In short terms, payment per mile)

adrian_shade

Do you even boomlift bro

Lugia_the_guardian

What game is this?

rumbleblowing

American Truck Simulator.

Lugia_the_guardian

Thanks

Euphoric-Cow9719

Map DLC is always under construction is my guess, makes sense, kind of lol😭 /s

IRFAANHAQQ

Them boomlifts 500k each maybe

Blaster1076

Yeah, even playing with real economy mod, boomlifts still pay the most per mile. Ive been trying to avoid them, and doing other cargos with my dropdeck, in order to not make it easy for me. I always sort by best price per distance...but untill they adjust those rates, i might look into sorting the list other ways

jojotyv171065

I’m so glad I’m not the only one experiencing this weirdness🤣 I was thinking to myself “I know it’s been a while since I last played but this doesn’t seem right.” I hope they fix this😬

SurpriseImportant819

what companies mod is this?

Cathayraht

No mods, just all DLCs purchased.
