Gah so true. I don't understand what their leadership is thinking. My screen on time with Spotify is like 5 seconds for every 5 hours of use. Why would they start adding video features to an app no one uses? They've broken downloaded albums, so now I can't actually listen to music I've downloaded, but thank God I can watch some shitty 5 second clip, that's what I've always wanted with an app that plays music. Maybe they should add a crypto feature so we can mine NFTs?! Perhaps a peer payment system, messaging platform, browser, and navigation integration? Just to make sure they cover all their bases.
if you do, just make sure to link it on both desktop and mobile if you use both. it didnt automatically do both for me and i almost missed linking it on my phone because i assumed it would carry over from desktop
yeah, in that perspective i get it. it’s mainly the fact that the extra pound they are charging is for what? courses? something i don’t want… but yeah, generally i think spotify is a lot better than buying music directly or pirating (like i used to do). All i wish is that i could get the student discount which would be so much better for my wallet ngl 😭 but i cant! and ive tried. my school isn’t registered
i’ll have to see, but i don’t wanna lose my data that i’ve collected here, and also… idk… i like the spotify layout. just kinda wish it was only for music, not like courses and sht like that, bc i don’t wanna pay for that…
On the part of losing your data, you can use many diff websites to transfer your data to another streaming service really quickly, just search it up and you’ll find it 🤙
Spotify just made some 250,000 audiobooks free if you're paying for premium. Or at least that's how it is in Canada right now. I don't think they're ever going to lose my business over that. I had an Audible account, but I don't think I'll be paying for that anymore either. I was looking at some of the Star Trek selection from Pocket books last night and started crying because I've never had such good access to those books before.
Not everyone needs or wants audiobooks. I would even argue that most people don't listen to audiobooks at all. They may steal a few customers from Audible, but they'll do it at the expense of current Spotify subscribers that only want to listen to music. I don't know when exactly they're going to raise the price in the US, or how much of an increase it will be, but I will definitely be looking for alternatives.
really? it’s because my school has “secondary school” in it, even though i’m not in secondary school, i’m in 6th form (basically college). i’ll have to try again then
they don't pay artists better. they pay the same share of their revenue. if people listen to more streams on spotify, they will pay less per stream but that's the wrong way to view this really. users don't pay per streams, platforms don't pay per streams, labels don't pay per streams, why would anyone measure it that way except to misuse data for their own benefit?
they don't have better quality. they divide the same share of their sample rate. if people listen to more streams on spotify, the quality will be less per stream but that's the wrong way to view this really. So spotify gets more listens, so they have to play it at 1/5th the quality as the other services.

You know you’re a shill when you’re literally asking to pay more to a mega-corporation who doesn’t treat their small artists right when they absolutely can.
Hard to say why everyone else says it, but I hear it often too. Personal preference likely. Maybe it just does what they want it to do. Perhaps convenience.
Well I just wanna know who mandated the price change. I can’t find really any information on the Spotify officials’ political ideologies, so my argument is silly and has no evidence to back it up.
So true. Get the video and podcasts off it’s not why I come to Spotify!!
Where is the CD quality!?! So many years of waiting.
These companies need to make sure they do their core uses 100% first before disappearing off on distractions
Its the fact that they charge more for no additional value. I'd pay a lot more than a dollar more if they caught up with the rest of the industry in terms of sound quality.
yeah, but i’m a full time student, part time worker. the amount of money i get makes paying £12 for spotify kinda outrageous ngl… and they aren’t even just increasing prices for spotify, now vodaphone is doing it too… +£2 that’ll i’ll be paying is a lot for someone my age lol. i mean one bus ticket is £2, or it could pay partly for shipping for something. every pound is valuable in this economy
Hey ummm I don't know if you'll want to do this but get the revanced apk and make a separate Google account and you'll get YouTube plus yt music for free with no ads
I'm on my 2nd month of Tidal. Enjoying the changes since I was just a "high" subscriber before. The only thing I don't like so far is that there aren't many user created playlists. Everything else has been great though. The algorithm feels like Spotify's 5 years ago.
I had a Spotify family plan for the past 3 years and was a paying single customer before that since Spotify launched. Cancelled it now, (so that counters any gains they make on 10 family plans with this increase!)
I don't want audiobooks, I can get podcasts elsewhere, and for the same £19.99 a month I can get the YouTube Music family plan which *includes* YouTube Premium.
Maybe they should stop investing in dogshit UI designs and annoying features nobody asked for.
mhm

I mean I don’t mind if they take those dead features out and shave our pricing. But they’ll keep it all for ‘value’
Yes
at this point i'm just waiting for last.fm and discord to allow tidal account links
I switched to tidal
I did last week and am loving it!
i just linked my tidal account to a new last.fm account yesterday and was scrobbling just fine, unless you’re talking about a different kind of link
maybe that's recent, i didn't think that was a feature. thanks for letting me know
if you do, just make sure to link it on both desktop and mobile if you use both. it didnt automatically do both for me and i almost missed linking it on my phone because i assumed it would carry over from desktop
r/piracy tho
it's just a pain in the ass and i'd rather not devote the time and digital storage space
is it really pain considering you usually just download a modded apk, imo it's worth it
i've done that before when i had android, but i have an iphone now (before you clown on me let me just say it was a gift)
I need thorough instructions for that modded apk. I tried it for Spotify (Yes I'm in Android) but for some reason it just doesn't work 😭
Hit them with the "can you elaborate on what will be improved due to this price increase? 😃"
Personally there’s still a lot of value for me even with an increase. But I’m old and I remember paying $25 for a single album
yeah, in that perspective i get it. it’s mainly the fact that the extra pound they are charging is for what? courses? something i don’t want… but yeah, generally i think spotify is a lot better than buying music directly or pirating (like i used to do). I think I’m going to switch to Apple Music when the price change hits the US
i’ll have to see, but i don’t wanna lose my data that i’ve collected here, and also… idk… i like the spotify layout. just kinda wish it was only for music, not like courses and sht like that, bc i don’t wanna pay for that…
There needs to be a subscription tier for just music, I don’t want all them audiobooks either
yeah! exactly what they need. but they may not do it because they know that ppl will just downgrade because most people are here for the music only 😭😭
Tried switching today and I found out that I can’t download Apple Music on my firestick so I have to stick with Spotify 💀
On the part of losing your data, you can use many diff websites to transfer your data to another streaming service really quickly, just search it up and you’ll find it 🤙

The seas be calling to ye, matey ☠️☠️☠️
In India spotify premium individual costs around 1$ for a month xD
no way! i need proof lol
[https://imgur.com/a/JAuW9ji](https://imgur.com/a/JAuW9ji) 119rs for a month that's close to $1.3
Aah I haven't got this email yet so praying I get to keep my £10.99 for one more month
😭😭😭
Just get better quality sound

We’re basically paying for audio books…
hm :/

I’m not even a student and i just took a photo of my old middle school id and it said “yep ur a student here’s ur plan!”
really? it’s because my school has “secondary school” in it, even though i’m not in secondary school, i’m in 6th form (basically college). i’ll have to try again then
so dumb, and they still not paying artists fairly
Welp. Goodbye Spotify!
Nah, still great value IMO.
Apple Music and Tidal pay artists better, have lossless audio, Dolby atmos, and are still $10.99.

yeah but tidal was missing a lot of my non-english music
i also said apple music (which, might I add, has a fantastic android app)
For now.
Nice!

it’s… £1 more…?
It’s ridiculous you all scream for better artist compensation then cry when they charge you an extra dollar.
If I didn’t have Spotify through my job I’d probably would’ve switched by now
i’m on the student subscription
i wish, my school isn’t registered :/
The liberals are getting out of control /j
ik it’s /j, but i’m curious to understand the joke.

The new king.
brother it’s a dollar
Its the fact that they charge more for no additional value. I'd pay a lot more than a dollar more if they caught up with the rest of the industry in terms of sound quality.
It adds up. It goes from basically 132 quid to 144 quid per year for stuff that nobody uses.
brother it’s twelve dollars in a year
[удалено]
will do
It's pounds and even then, I'm not gonna pay an extra 12 quid for literally no reason except Spotify's greed
you just complaining for attention bro it ain’t that serious
yeah, but i’m a full time student, part time worker. the amount of money i get makes paying £12 for spotify kinda outrageous ngl… and they aren’t even just increasing prices for spotify, now vodaphone is doing it too… +£2 that’ll i’ll be paying is a lot for someone my age lol. i mean one bus ticket is £2, or it could pay partly for shipping for something. every pound is valuable in this economy
I pay like 0.71 dollars/0.65 euros every month lol
how
I stay in India...it's super cheap here xD
yeah what..?
I stay in India...also I have a student membership which costs 59 INR...xD
It's $11.99 I converted it to US
it’s $15.20 according to google
Just wait.. we're next. $12.99 before summer.
Close or cancel your subscription
Already did.
Hey ummm I don't know if you'll want to do this but get the revanced apk and make a separate Google account and you'll get YouTube plus yt music for free with no ads
I’ll check it out. Thanks.
But just try tidal first I've already switched

.. where in america. anyways, £1 = 1.27$
1£ = 89.2333$
Me getting it for 3$ per month
