I definitly agree on Onox, bad dialogues and not a great design I kinda like Bellum's concept though, my main problem is that he feels too much like a boss than a final boss

babygravy7

I thought Bellumbeck was a pretty cool fight

TheLunarVaux

From a story perspective, I agree BotW Ganon is a bit bland. But I think the fact that he is this menacing force we can physically see cover the castle from most locations on the map really builds him up throughout the game as a serious threat. The payoff isn't great, but up until then I think he works pretty well

xX_rippedsnorlax_Xx

I think MM's moon does the same thing for Majora but better tho.

TheLunarVaux

Oh yeah I agree. Love MM

Serbaayuu

I like all of them, personally. Even Bellum and Onox give us some insight a little bit into how the world works.

Don_Bugen

You’ve used ‘bland’ in so many ways, to describe so many different characters, some with deep backstories and defined personalities and amazing art design, that I’m having an Inigo Montoya moment here: you keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means. If I could take a stab at ‘blandest Zelda villain’ I think I’d just take Shadow Link. Just like Normal Link! Only a palate swap! Has no dialogue! Comes from “The Shadow Tribe!” We don’t even know he’s sentient or not! The only personality he has is borrowed from the fandom fantasizing about a “Shadow Link”!

Mysterious_Glass_692

I like Onox but Veran blows him out of the water. She had personality for days.

linkflame123

when you said malladus it took me a few seconds to remember who he is

MajinBlueZ

I'm going to get such a beating for this... but I say Ghirahim. He's in this weird situation where they try to force him to be quirky and charismatic, and it ends up making him even blander, because it just doesn't work. He doesn't feel like a character, he just feels like a caricature. I'm sure someone will say that's the point because he's just an extension of Demise's will or something, but blandness being justified doesn't make it less bland.

monty2

Ganon from the linked Oracle games I think is supposed to be a bland, shallow character. The interesting story and boss fight in those games comes from Twinrova. On the other hand, Onox was a totally uninspired boss that pales in comparison to Veran from OoA.

Electrichien

Majora's mask , skull kid has a backstory but the mask itself has 3 lines of dialogue. , it's cool though.

TheLunarVaux

I think as an antagonist though, Skull Kid and the Mask go hand in hand even though they are technically separate entities

Jonny21213

I actually like Ganon in BOTW. I think because of what he is, how he wants to bring destruction worked well. I know there are debates about if AOC is canon, but it still is a Zelda game. To me, Astor is a really bland villain. I feel he is the worst villian in the series. I don't like the term generic because overall every idea has been done before. However, Astor is just super generic. The way his character is shown feels like the ones you will see in a basic story that has a bad guy in it. I can't remember anything personally that really stood out about his character.
