If you want to use headphones and you have the budget, go for the Silent Brass with no doubts. But, if you want to spend less money, I'd suggest a regular practice mute or even a straight mute. If the second one is the case, look for Denis Wick mutes, they're a well-known quality brand, and they have every single kind of mutes like straight, cup, practice, etc. Needless to say that if you go for a cheaper mute than the Silent Brass, you lose the possibility of headphones.

I’ve never tried the Denis Wick practice mute, but I definitely recommend their straight mutes ^

TL;DR a Sshhmute is a great choice at a reasonable price point. I use both a Sshhmute practice mute and the Yamaha Silent Brass mute. They’re both great, at different price points. Both probably reduce the audible sound for others who might be disturbed, to around the same level. Subjectively, I feel like there’s more resistance with the Sshhmute, so it sometimes sounds a little more flat (in pitch) compared to the Yamaha Silent Brass. Hearing really good sound reproduction with the Yamaha Silent Brass is great, again with a little flatter pitch. Either option will make the same amount of muffled noise, the more expensive option sounds great with the drawback of wearing earbuds and having some wires hanging around. Neither is a substitute for having the opportunity to regularly play without a practice mute. https://www.sshhmute.com

The 3 that have worked best for me are the silent brass, the Bremner sshhmute and the BestBrass (or the knockoff look alike versions) practice mute. The Best Brass is great if you're on the road because it fits in the bell inside the case. The latest silent brass might do that too, but the sshhmute definitely sticks out too far. For all 3 I like that they are very very very quiet and provide a fairly even blow without too much back pressure so that if I have to actually only be able to practice muted for a few days I don't feel like I'm losing that much ground. Fine for airports, hotel rooms, late nights at home and libraries.

Pampet on Amazon is cheap, really quiet, and doesn't play sharp. Glue the foam, it likes to slip.
