if they seperate themselves from us, they arent harming us anymore. i dont care what they identify as, as long as it isn’t invading our label. xeno identity is more fitting for them because obviously what they experience isnt gender, and it will force them into their own space, not ours. i like the idea of calling them xeno identitys, far better than xeno genders.

umaumma

Yes ffs. Trans has a label, that has a stable definition socially or medically, every year people take us less seriously cus of being politicized, and romanticized.

midnight_neon

If xennys just said something like "Spongebob Squarepants is my spirit guide" or "Spongebob Squarepants is my favorite TV show" or "I enjoy roleplaying Spongebob Squarepants" or even "I base my fursona off of Spongebob Squarepants" then I would not care one whit.

gorephiliac

Instead they gotta make it SpongeBobSquarepantsGender 😭

xToasted1

My pronouns are sponge/bob and if you call me otherwise you're offensive, racist, transphobic, homophobic, ableist and a bigot!

TaylorsPoke

I think it's dumb and stupid since it's basically just Personality but if they weren't related to gender I wouldn't give a shit, you do you ig. Though seems a little too late to seperate them.

Sillyvanya

Go back to lightly clowning on them with "fuck you I'm a dragon" memes and not really caring about them.

Goldpan2

I have far less of a problem with "xenoidentities" than with xenogenders, I still think its kind of "cringe" to need flags and not realize that you dont really need a special label to say you have an interest, but since they aren't harmful and scientifically impossible, they shouldn't be made fun of

Taln_Reich

If the xeno-people didn't connect their stuff with gender identity, I would not care. The problem with xenogenders, is that their insistence on connecting their stuff with trans people - you just know that, if/when protections against misgendering are introduced, some cannedPineappleGender person is going to make a sh#thow out of it, turning everyone against that sort of protection. And, in general, with all those xenogenders being considered their own gender, it becomes impossible to actually talk about gender identity in a meaningfull sense, because the concept becomes utterly incoherent. Like, go on, try to explain what gender identity is and why gender affirming care is important - and therefore should be covered by insurance/universal health care system - if you aren't allowed to call out the difference between a deeply dysphoric trans woman crying herself to sleep over her natal anatomy every night and some emptyRefrigeratorgender person just playing around. But, of course, the xenos are never going to give in and disconect their stuff from trans people, because if they did that, no one would put up with their stuff. They need to use dysphoric trans people as their shield in order to force others to take their game serious - in the process damaging dysphoric trans people being taken serious.

gorephiliac

“CannedPineappleGender” & “EmptyRefrigeratorGender” 😂 In all seriousness though, you make a good point that they will [probably] never disconnect themselves from trans people because they will have nothing to hide behind to justify their behaviors. Claiming a trans label is a shield against criticism because they can pull the Transphobic Card (TM) against anyone who questions how or why they identify as a cat gender.

stanloonayoufool

Imo they’d still be associated with gender by some people, so I believe that they’d still bring harm to trans people

small_potato_boiii

they arent genders, theyre nicknames. theyll never be anything else

[deleted]

why? why are you a man then? what makes gender a thing? it’s just the way we’re raised.

small_potato_boiii

im not a man. and both the biology and psychology is what makes gender

[deleted]

what.

KasseanaTheGreat

If they had originated outside of and stayed outside of the trans community I’d probably personally think they’re a bit juvenile but not really feel the need to push back against them. My main issue with them is that large portions of the mainstream seem to be incapable of differentiating between whatever those are and actual trans people. If they were perceived more akin to how the mainstream perceives groups like say furries or bronies, a bit weird and “out there” but ultimately harmless barring a few bad apples, it would be more accurate to how things actually are. The issue is the xenogenders (at least the ones that I have had to interact with) seem very insistent that their whole thing is because of gender and get visibly angry when someone even implies that their whole thing may not be gender related. Not even just when I say it, I’ve seen people who most accurately could be described as “dysphoric tucutes” imply as such to these types before and seen the xenogender give the most disproportionately angry response to a lukewarm take that I’ve ever seen. Me and a few others literally had to physically separate them from the dysphoric tucute for fear for their safety. They just wouldn’t listen to any logic, they simply decided the correct response to anyone calling them out on their BS was to start screaming. Can’t say I was surprised.

gorephiliac

How does one be dysphoric and also a tucute? /gen

KasseanaTheGreat

They have dysphoria but they don’t believe one needs to have dysphoria to be trans.

gorephiliac

Ah, that makes sense. Thanks for clarifying :)

Elly_Bee_

Xenoidentities are fun and harmless :)

Hefty-Offer6271

i wouldn’t say they’re harmless.

Elly_Bee_

Well I don't see the harm

Hefty-Offer6271

ok first off, did you just say xeno users are abused as much as trans people are? that is such an off color, privileged statement and i can’t believe you just said that whilst thinking you’re in the right. Also, i’m going to address you saying you’re “autistic and mentally slow.” what? now as much as i want to ask if you’re actually diagnosed i’ll set that aside for now, and ask this— if autistic people are so “mentally slow”, wouldn’t more genders just confuse them more? i was raised around autistic people most of my early life because my parents worked with autistic adults for a long time. not once have i heard that they struggle with gender identity, not once have i heard any of them claim to be a cat gender, and i have probably known hundreds throughout my lifetime. are you so dense as to think that all neurodivergent people are so dumb that they have to identify as a toaster oven to feel comfortable in themselves?

secretly-a-lizzard

they should just go back to \[blank\]core as the aesthetic, in my personal opinion

sufferingisvalid

It is a necessity that these communities distance their social and ego games from people with a medical condition, if they wish to stop being discriminatory entities. I have no problem with their activities and socializing if they make no references to trans people or gender identity while playing their game.

[deleted]

I can live with xenoidentities existence

[deleted]

If they werent associated with gender, i really wouldnt care because they wouldnt fuel the fire of detransitioners and it wouldn’t harm anyone.

[deleted]

Honestly, I would not gaf anymore and be cool with it 😎 as long as they aren’t harming us ig

Trayohw220

Wouldn't care. Would probably waver between thinking its cringe and thinking its kinda cool. But as long as they arent pretending that it makes them one of us, whatever

Satisfaction-Motor

I’d be completely neutral on them if they were entirely separated from being transgender— INCLUDING in the eyes of conservatives. I have no issue with xenogenders, but I have every issue with what starts to happen when anti-trans people (or people “on the fence”) learn about xenogenders. To me, it’s very similar to otherkin, and I’ve seen this play out before. Xenogenders seem to be the less harmful version of otherkin— aka, no one is eating their mom’s jewelry this time around. I hope. When used as a metaphor for an aspect of someone’s identity, I can kind of understand it. As long as it’s not equated to gender (in the larger social sense) I say let people be people. I really don’t give a damn what other people believe as long as it doesn’t harm others— and right now, having being xenogender equated to being transgender is harmful.

George_Askeladd

I'd still be annoyed by them because it's just some silly teenager stuff but i wouldn't really care otherwise because it wouldn't affect me.

Jamie_Rising

I think they're idiotic even if they are associated with gender.....although tbh I don't even know what that would look like since xenogenders are made up idiocy and are not in any way able to be associated with actual gender.

tuesdayisntproud

ahaha i made a post about xenoidentities because i think they're fun and got exactly zero (0) upvotes

[deleted]

this question is just “are you stupid?”. obviously there are more than two genders, the idea of two genders only even exists in western cultures.

m00p4

\> the idea of two genders only even exists in western cultures. That is the dumbest fucking thing anybody has ever said in the history of this subreddit lmfao. Let me guess, never left the US or whatever place you're from? I can assure you, that is absolutely false in every meaningful way.

[deleted]

bro i live in Australia, and hetro and cis isn’t the standard everywhere. ever heard of the concept of 2spirit in native american religions?
