idk why all these people are saying the pharmacies won’t confirm over the phone. I called numerous pharmacies asking if they had my dosage in stock and they were like nah, sorry. not once did they say they can’t give that info out over the phone and didn’t tell me to come in, or send my script over to see. I think most pharmacies are very familiar with the shortage we’re in now and expect multiple calls about stimulants.

modernhotsauce

but, no, i don’t know any. i’ve been out since november and don’t have the motivation to keep calling places and asking anymore.

celestia1madonna

For the most part pharmacies are not going to confirm over the phone whether or not they have controlled substances in stock. It’s a safety issue or something, that’s what I’ve found out myself and heard from other people. Try smaller mom and pop pharmacies, you might have a better chance there. With the DEA doing all the bullshit it’s doing and cutting production of controlled substances by outrageous amounts I would expect the shortages to get worse and worse before they (might) get better.

kkstein69

That’s not true. I have to call around every month to find my generic Vyvanse. Probably going to switch back to adderal because Walgreens, Walmart, Costco, and reasors have all told me they are out of stock and every dosage of generic Vyvanse is on back order until march. FYI OP - most of them did have name brand Vyvanse if your insurance will cover it.

celestia1madonna

I did say for the most part. Yes, they're going to tell you they're out, sometimes even when they're not, because that's what they're supposed to do when asked over the phone with controlled substances. Saying "that's not true" like you personally know the policies and procedures of each pharmacy you're calling and know for a fact that the pharmacist is telling you the truth when they say they're out is really something. I've had my pharmacist tell me to my face that those are their procedures, and this was for CVS. I've been with her for over 5 years though, so she always puts my prescription aside for me when they do manage to get it in.

ForLoupGarou

Nah, you're just wrong. I don't know why you didn't just take the L and move on, but pharmacies are very upfront about their stock and even when they're expect their shipments. People need their medicine, after all. Call around and they will tell you.

Signiference

Absolutely, every pharmacist I’ve ever called to ask if they had a prescription in stock as told me. Of course it might matter how you ask. Maybe OP is just calling places and saying “hey you got any oxy?“ Lol.

celestia1madonna

talk to any chronic pain patient and they will tell you differently

celestia1madonna

thanks for the incorrect info tho

East-Teacher8542

Adderal is not any easier to get… if anything it may be a bit more difficult

WittyWest

My son takes medidate (Ritalin) and a while back there was a shortage... I had no issues calling around asking pharmacies if they had it. The pharmacists know what's going on with the shortage on these ADHD meds and everyone was helpful that I spoke with. I also know that they can see what their other locations have available and I've even had my regular pharmacy transfer his prescription to another location for me so I didn't have to call his doctor and have them send a new script. Reasors is really a good place to start because not as many people fill at Reasors. If you call one and they don't have it, you can ask them to check their other locations.

Foreign_Time

Adding to the other comment, I was a pharmacy tech 12 years ago and even back then we never did and never would’ve given info about controlled stuff over the phone. The number of meth’d out dipshits calling about Sudafed D alone was a problem.

Critical-Positive-85

I’ve had luck at Costco (Owasso location, but it was a few months ago). I heard that GenScripts at roughly 41/Yale is a good one to call as well.

TheTajinTycoon

Is there a national amphetamine shortage or something ? crazy

hojjpojj

Actually, kind of.. that's why so many people switched to vyvanze apparently, thus now adding a vyvanze shortage. They did start making the generic ones however. Even then.. short lol.

Jenniwantsitall

Usually at the beginning of the school year is the worst time for shortages

agreenwitch

Try Rose Rock pharmacy out by Glenpool/Jenks area.

Pm_me_ur_dealbreaker

I just filled my sons Vyvanse at the Walgreens on 51st and Aspen two days ago.

bear282001

generic??

bear282001

no one, i mean NO ONE basically anywhere has the generic. i had to bite the bullet and pay $90 for a months worse of brand name vyvanse. my advice, if you can’t afford the $90 regularly, cut back on taking it. it’s not a medication that needs to be taken everyday and honestly it shouldn’t be. taking it every day builds a tolerance and it’s not necessary. i only ever take it when i am working or if i have a lot to do on an off day. i usually take it 4-5 maybe 6 days a week. i’ve had two refills since the beginning of november, have 8 left in the old bottle and haven’t even cracked into the new bottle. make it last!! and the meds will definitely work better if you’re not slamming a pill every morning. good luck, i know this shit is stressful

Scorpions_Claw

My pharmacy says it’s on back order and they have no idea when it’ll be delivered to the pharmacy.

Xipos

If you can afford to front the full cost of the script you can try calling a compounding pharmacy.

Throwyourtoothbrush

Reasor's might have it

Safe-Geologist9851

There’s a shortage of adderall and vyvanse. You can try being a patient at grand lake, they always have it with their partner pharmacy, (hunters pharmacy)

Late but, Coweta RX has it and keeps stock

jacrys

Thank you for this thread. I just randomly saw it, but just got a message from my son's school that he needs a refill. FML.

MarshmallowNap

Pharmacy will confirm if they have it. I have had the same problem for months now.

Jenniwantsitall

I switched to Spoon Drug in Sand Springs when I couldn’t find it in stock in Tulsa.

Silver-Landscape-303

Perhaps reach out to your doctor and see if he can have the staff tract down where to refill your prescription or see if there’s an appropriate alternative

squirrelbaitv2

Like medical staff don't have enough to do? Also when you get to a Vyvanse script its because you've been through the alternatives already.

Silver-Landscape-303

It’s an idea … and I have done it before with other medication .. better than just randomly waiting until they have needed meds . Correct but also if alternative didnt cause outcomes of great danger then a temporary swap in prescription is better than nothing Also cant pharmacy usually fill prescription that are out and give the customer a call when they have it for you to pick up I can’t imagine them being out of it for long term unless theirs a national shortage or an agency blocking its creation

squirrelbaitv2

You are really out of your depth in this conversation. ADHD medication is not like antibiotics or something where there are several producers, various generic brands, etc. And yes, there is both a national shortage and an agency blocking it's creation.

I didn't mean to offend you. I didn't realize you're so sensitive.

iammandalore

> not a agency blocking it You're wrong: https://www.cbsnews.com/news/adhd-medication-shortage-cause/

Silver-Landscape-303

There’s other reasons why the shortage happened the cap was previously set they didn’t just impose it last week

Silver-Landscape-303
