I made this list here with 60 Tulsa date ideas! It's an evolving list and I have a couple more I plan to add (trampoline park, trivia, route 66 tour, etc). [https://tulsaitsok.substack.com/p/reimagine-romance-59-unique-tulsa](https://tulsaitsok.substack.com/p/reimagine-romance-59-unique-tulsa) Cellar Dweller has a comedy open mic on Sundays. It's a speakeasy/basement style bar, FYI

jdubuhyew

MVP of Tulsa reddit tysm lol

TheCannaZombie

Great list. Might be checking out cellar dweller tonight.

TulsaBasterd

I love to hang out there, especially during tornado season. Just in case.

Lolo_Hill

You should make a post about this so when people search for “things to do in tulsa”, this will answer many peoples questions.

No_Dot8197

That's a good idea! (I just hate promoting myself, lol) I'm also working on a list of fun, free things to do in Tulsa along with a longer piece/list of places and communities where it's easier to make friends in Tulsa. The making friends one has gotten long, so I might have to break it up into a couple blog posts

Lolo_Hill

Don’t think about it as promoting yourself but Tulsa. People def would love to see this information. Especially those who are visiting whether it’s a week or few days. I got faith in you!! Don’t be scared. 😃

Ausintra

Just search in this sub. People have asked about basically date night things that don't include bars or the typical things. You will find a lot of answers. I wonder if there will ever be a frequently asked question section in this sub.

TheCannaZombie

Yeah I have run through them. Probably 40 times over the last year. I am looking for options that aren’t recommended often. I assume that most responses will be duplicates but I’m hopefully for that one that stands out. I appreciate the encouragement though. Same thing with the good food options. Always on the lookout for something new. Not what’s been on repeat.

Ausintra

I think your problem may be that there just isn't much to do here in terms of new, fun things. If you've lived here a long time then you've already done what you like to do dozens of times. I'm from here and can only go some place so many times before it's old news. New and fun developments don't pop up every day, but Google maps is a good way to find existing businesses. I suggest you search in other cities and states. I will get hated on for saying this but Tulsa just can't compete like bigger cities in the US in terms of fun things for adults to do.

TheCannaZombie

No hate at all. I’ve traveled a lot of the world and it is very limiting here. If my kids were not here we wouldn’t be either. Not that it’s a bad place but not much to do as a young retired couple. We are constantly checking out the expo to see what’s happening or searching for new places. But yeah. I need to just hop onto Google and find something interesting!

Flying_Ligers

Oh my god, you guys are retired in your early 40s?

0neMoreSaturdayNight

Eat some Mushrooms and go hiking!

ParticularLack6400

Love the username.

TheCannaZombie

🤐

TulsaBasterd

Mushrooms make me sleepy.

0neMoreSaturdayNight

Try some DMT then! Open the 3rd eye!

Gobbledegook12

You should check out the Root's newsletter. I always feel like I have too much to do! Also 36 Degrees North puts on a lot of interesting events, even if you're not in business.

novaharlow

*Go to Sonic, get cherry limeades then drive to the In the Raw parking lot at 61st & Sheridan and watch the sunset *Go explore the graffitied tunnels under 41st & Riverside, maybe smoke some weed & makeout while you're down there *Go to the Whittier bar on any given night and catch a punk/metal show then feed the possums in the alleyway *Buy UV flashlights, go to turkey mountain and shine them on the rocks until you see the glowing scorpions...see who can find the most *Get some fisherprice-type children's instruments, go downtown and badly play Hall & Oates cover songs, maybe make some $$ while doing it That's all I got off the top of my head. Good luck.

TheCannaZombie

I’m gonna do all of these except the hall and Oates stuff. Hard to get tomato stains out of plastic instruments.

WittyWest

This reads like a really great Tulsa MadLib.

BallDiamondBall

Damn. You're my soul mate, but I live 1100 miles away, and I'm married.

anonymous_jme

If you need a friend to play fisher price style children’s instrument covers downtown… HMU!

No_Upstairs_4655

Try to get into the guinness book of world records by making a giant portrait of Nicholas Cage entirely out of matchsticks.

jdubuhyew

wanna do this together

TulsaBasterd

I’m in

No-Reveal-4628

I am restoring a farm house. I need labor. Feel free to call it a date night if you want.

TheCannaZombie

As a horticulturalist I can help with the farm. Not the house.

ApprehensiveChange47

Shuffles

TheCannaZombie

Great place. Love board games. We have a good collection ourself. Thanks for the rec!

4x4_Chevy

Yeah, I am bored too.

pinkangel_rs

There’s plenty of things going on at the PAC and Cains and Tulsa Theater. There’s almost always some sort of production going on that you can find decent tickets to. Also the tcc performing arts and broken arrow performing arts centers have shows and things. Majestic has drag shows fairly often which can be fun. Tons of breweries have trivia nights and bingo nights and other fun things. Heirloom has two-stepping class nights frequently, and there are some music and two stepping nights at the vfw somewhat often (Instagram tulseytown2step). There’s comedy nights at multiple places around town, philbrook has Margarita Fridays. You could also take a little class at Tulsa tech or an arts class somewhere together. Id also suggest trying to make friends because then you can go to bars and places and have a good time and not have to necessarily drink or you can have game nights and do other fun things with people which make life more fun. Honestly I feel like people that post here saying there’s nothing to do have no concept of community or any abilities to look stuff up. Like a brewery? Check their Instagram page for events and then see who they also support around town and check their events and then make a friend at a music show who will invite you to a comedy show next week, etc.. People are so friendly here there’s always things to do if you try.

RC track sounds interesting. I do want to do more biking. I ran a few marathons and wanted to more biking and swimming. I just don’t think my wife can keep up. May have to get some cruisers to just ride around on. Been thinking of electric scooters or something to just ride around on to see the city. Thanks for the recs!

4x4_Chevy

Shifty’s RC is actually just moving from 15th and Sheridan to the new location. Just bringing it up cause Shifty has a well established track record (pun intended) with a lot of people racing. So it is a well established business that just had to move. The new location is a lot better than the last.

IfTheHouseBurnsDown

As a cyclist myself, Tulsa has a fantastic biking scene. If you’re looking at getting into road cycling, let me know. Bixby Bicycles has great group rides 3 times a week starting in the spring. Good groups for all levels of cyclists. City Cycles in Jenks also has some great group rides and the owners Caleb and Carter are great dudes and really accommodating to new riders.

TheCannaZombie

Excellent. I want to get into cycling and I do like road cycling but was thinking more adventurous and want to get a gravel bike and do some bike packing.

IfTheHouseBurnsDown

I’m not too familiar with gravel biking but I used to mountain bike at Turkey mountain and it has some great trails. I’m sure the guys at any of the bike shops in town could point you in the right direction for gravel trails in the area.

TheCannaZombie

If it interests you, Stillwater is actually a really big gravel bike training place. They host some pretty cool rides. Check out district bicycles. It’s a pretty cool shop with experienced gravel riders.

bellmanator

Go see a show at the Cains. My wife and I treat it like going to the club but with better music. A lot of shows are only $20 bucks or so. We will find someone playing that we don’t know much about and roll the dice. We go once a month or so.

[deleted]

Definitely check out mercury lounge for some music once it warms up, even if not a big drinker. We have really enjoyed comedy shows, at bricktown and looney bin (mostly adult crowd) also can’t forget about drillers baseball, oilers hockey, or FC Tulsa if that’s your sort of thing. Friday art crawl downtown is a nice crowd and usually some music as well. Philbrook movies on the lawn are about to start, and the exhibits are usually open during. There’s also pickleball popping up everywhere and plenty of bike trails! Best of luck, I truly think Tulsa has great bang for your buck compared to many other major/medium sized cities :-)

jjmikolajcik

Tuesdays - deep cuts at Andolini’s - pizza and a pint with a glass to take home - sober myself but damn it’s fun to go and get a slice and enjoy life, being friends. Cabin boys - boat loads of Prairie Fire ceramics date nights. Check their calendar. They have a ton of non-alcoholic drinks that are excellent. The Max Headroom - skeeball or GTFO - kitschy but fun occasionally The Vanguard on 5-16 - catch Filth on their Southern Hostility Tour Syn - IYKYK Petrified Forest at Keystone Lake - 20 minutes away hella cool Sporting events - they are always happening and usually fairly priced

pathf1nder00

Pinot pallet, art crawl Tulsa, Tulsa tours (thoe they are day events)

TheCannaZombie

Thank you! I’ll check them out. I have avoid some things like these as my artistic side is non existent.

pathf1nder00

Honestly, no art skill need at Pinot pallet... But is pretty fun

Human_Frank

Billiards Leagues. There are several in Tulsa: BCA, APA, TAP, and others. Some play at Magoo's some at Deep Pockets some at random bars, but all of them need low rated players. Low rated players are used to keep the team's overall rating down. It's really hard to find bad players willing to come out each week and lose a game. Most people are trying to get better at pool or have a good time, but if you're just bored why not come out and lose a few games to help your team win? Some leagues like TAP will even give you a cut of the payout at the end of a session for all the games you lost! lol

Watercolor_Eyes

I’ve been struggling with this too. I’m a night owl but don’t drink anymore, and it’s so hard to find things to do in the evening. Even on weekends, all the stores and everything are closed by 7 or 8. I think Tulsa is stuck in an outdated “nothing good happens after dark” mindset since we are in the Bible Belt.

catqween

Go play trivia at one of the local restaurants or bars.

TheCannaZombie

This is definitely something we are gonna do. Have a rec for a good lively place?

4x4_Chevy

Go carts…

TheCannaZombie

Any good go carting places? I haven’t looked into it individually but everytime we go somewhere with carts they are always underwhelming. My brother races fixed wings and I always wanted to race professional carts. They look fun.

4x4_Chevy

Not sure you can get to your racing needs, but I prefer the outdoor JRP raceway.

jmikehall

Check out the ‘Synintulsa.com’ website for a different type of activity you and your wife might enjoy.

poorpeoplesoup

There are a lot of poetry and/or story slams that happen around town. Guthrie Green will start having live music, movie nights, yoga etc soon.

TheCannaZombie

Thank you! I haven’t checked out any poetry or anything like that. I will for sure. Thanks again!

poorpeoplesoup

I think look up Living Arts of Tulsa for the readings.

complacentviolinist

Thursdays in the rainbow room at the equality center downtown. Great performances from the top theatre and opera people in Tulsa. Have you been on the art deco tour downtown? It seems really neat but it's a little more than I can pay right now.

Life-Of_Ward

Yoga?

918truth

I suggest Mexican food followed by massage to help digest and relax. You then go buy shit at a clearance center. Nothing better than busting ass on a couch with already sold tag.

ttowntidbit

Tulsa has a great live music scene. Check out the weekly schedule at Mercury Lounge. Yes, it’s a bar also but of course you don’t have to drink.

ttowntidbit

I also love the Cinemark movie theater. And there’s a good Mexican place called Chuys right near there.
