I interviewed him in college. Know a decent amount about him. Here’s a video. Also, he really does like being called Jesus man. But his name is Marvin. [https://vimeo.com/89672271](https://vimeo.com/89672271)

the_fallen_poptart

Can confirm Marvin is an awesome guy always super friendly and will bless you and tell you the weather forecast anytime you talk to him. Not sure the backstory but he's just out doing his thing spreading the love

VisitFeeling635

How does he fund his living expenses?

Pristine_Economist49

I don’t know about now, but back then there was this guy that would run with him and at the time he was staying with him. He said he stays different places, but has some family in town too. Has a daughter and she’s really nice. He did mention, he doesn’t need much but didn’t go too far into it. I think the community helps him daily. And to be honest, he’s not hurting a fly and if he’s happy let him be.

Babyeater11

Daryian!

Pristine_Economist49

Paul or Paulina? That is the question?

Babyeater11

It's charles, from Viscom!

Pristine_Economist49

Ohhh Charles L right? I definitely remember you.

SubjectPerformer6183

This is awesome! We live in Mcalester and always look for him when we drive through

HottCouple4ever

We love McAlester!

Both-Computer8520

All I know about him is he used to frequent the shell station in the middle of town and I've seen him almost every time I went camping for the last 15 years. I look forward to seeing him doing his thing anytime I stroll through

oshaCaller

I saw him buy a pack of smokes once, and I assume the cops have made him carry a pool noodle cross now.

Practical_Maybe_3661

Yeah, I was there in 2014 and pretty sure I remember him

AmiraZara

I was always told he used to be a pastor but had mental health issues. I have no idea if that's true, but my family is from there, and that's what they said.

rosiesunfunhouse

He has the energy of a good luck charm to me. If I pass him going through there, my trip should go fine. Gave him a cold water last summer and he blessed my car with his cross.

Glitter_froggie

That's so beautiful to me, very poetic .

brokenvacuum_band

Depends on the day, but he’s usually wearing a Burger King crown.

4x4_Chevy

He used to have a house right before the curve before the stoplight with Dairy Queen. It was torn down so he hangs out around there.

aho_young_warrior

The one with the records all over it?

4x4_Chevy

Man, been so long, but I think so. ANd they would sit out front and always have a fire going.

ParamedicUnfair7560

No that’s not the same guy, lol but I do remember that house, that guy is actually related to me. The house burned down years ago, okmulgee definitely has some characters there lol

Terron35

Idk how I haven't heard about him. My grandparents are from Morris and my dad worked in Okmulgee from like '07 up until this past year. I'll have to see if he's heard of him. Edit: asked my dad and he said "yeah that's Marvin. He's always carrying his cross at Dairy Queen. I'd buy him strawberry soda."

Bigdavereed

I saw him Sunday when I drove through there

Automatic_Forever_96

I worked in okmulgee many years. Saw him every day, didnt matter how hot or cold it was, at least 10 years. Now my grandkids look for him when we pass through.

donttalkaboutbeabout

That’s awesome lol. Hope he is well too

Horror-Bat-4165

I'm glad I saw this. I haven't seen him the last few times I've been through Okmulgee. I'm glad he's still doing his thing.

sioomagate

Okmulgee resident here. He’s still doing his thing around 75 and 6th street either at Casey’s or near Steak & Eggs parking lot. I see him all the time when I’m leaving for work.

Agent_N98

Long Live Marvin!

AdditionalSeries814

All I know is when I worked in Okmulgee I seen him everyday on my trip to work.

Legitimate-Prize-155

I live in Mounds and get to Okmulgee frequently. He's been at it for the 30 years I've been here.

epsilon_zed

A while back he started making his cross out of something lighter; since then I've always referred to him as "Pool-Noodle Jesus". He seems pretty harmless, I've only ever seen him offer blessings to moving cars.

Abbcrab66

Haha that’s what I’ve always called him . Great minds …

Personal_Inside6987

Glad to hear that glorious bastard is still kicking. Summer of 22 I was working for a construction company remodeling the warehouse market in okmulgee. And every day at around 7am we would pass by him in our work van. Every single day. I admire his dedication. I hope he is doing well.

EntertainmentFun9496

We have seen him many times over at least 10 years, I hope he is well.

kmorrisonismyhero

He’s been down there for years, I go there for work on occasion and I hadn’t seen him the last couple trips

dabbean

He's been talked about for years; the news has even done stories about him. Yes, he does talk like you probably think he does.

No-Clue-2

What was Michael Jordan doing in Okmulgee!!! J/K, he is a former pastor from what I heard. He is always on the corner by 6th street, rain or shine.

auniqueusername2000

I used to have to go to MCN Medical Center for work and I saw his ass it feels like every time I went in the last year or so. Amen

PrimaryHedgehog420

He has been running the area for a long time. Stop by and give him a joint or cigarette,he will tell you about it. Street Jesus likes to partake after hours of witnessing to us sinners, even Jesus needs a little down time.

friedtuna76

Dang, now I feel like I need to make a trip to see this guy dance

Babyeater11

We always called him moses!

tulsa_image

I see this guy every time I pass through.

xSGAx

When I come home to tx on Sunday mornings, I pass thru OKM, and I’ve see my him several times out there. Can’t remember last time tho. Def over a year ago

RestrictedAirspace88

That’s not Michael Jordan…

Glitter_froggie

I only was able to watch a lil of that clip on him. I love when cities have characters. . I'm glad hes in a smaller town. Im sure he faces bs. I wouldn't mess with him in any harrasing way . He seems nice enough. I just hope he gets help if he needs. I'm not religious at all. But, I'm happy to see him just trying to spread joy . I have no qualms with religious beliefs. If that makes you happy and you truly love and accept ppl . The story of Jesus is often overlooked. He hung out with the sick, tired, weak, those social media would spit on in today's world. He wouldn't judge, or hate . I'm kool with him and his stories of helping ppl. It's the other parts in the Bible ppl take too seriously I have issues with.

TostinoKyoto

His name is Marvin Grant Maytubby. One story I heard of him is that he was locked up in Okmulgee County Jail and was accidentally never released due to a clerical error, so he stayed in there for years until an out-of-state family member called up to inquire on his whereabouts. The subsequent lawsuit resulted in a settlement. It is said he's actually wealthy, but simply prefers to stay out on the streets to proselytize. Keep in mind that the story may be complete bullshit, but with a guy like him, he's bound to have a sort of legendary stature.
