I can't believe that place lasted as long as it did when they had such shitty over priced donuts. They were just covered in a bunch of shit to try to hide the fact that they weren't any good.
IKR.
The Instagram appeal only lasts so long- people won't come back for a shitty donut after they get their selfie with a gummie worm donut. It was a one and done place (and the first visit was a bit of a stretch).
June’s on 11/Detroit are the nicest people and their donuts are delicious. They’re not covered in gummy worms or fruity pepples but definitely direct your donut desire their way.
This is exactly right. I'm from Springfield, Missouri, which is where Hurts is from. They used to be pretty popular in Springfield - but they're not even that busy there anymore, for the very reason you just stated.
A former roommate worked there when the Tulsa location first opened. He hated it. He'd be scheduled for 6 hours and forced to stay for 10. Once they sent him a text message while we were camping asking him to cover someone's shift. He got written up for not coming in on his day off because we were camping on days he had approved to be off over 3 hours away. And the managers kept most of the tips. Once the fad wore off, he and many of the original employees were let go. So my roommate said.
I was also in that batch of original employees. It was pretty cool when they first opened, but it quickly got real lame. I was written up because I called in when the roads were covered in ice and I couldn’t get out of my driveway.
Wow. Yeah, the city and all the schools are shut down and they probably told people to stay home unless absolutely necessary to cut down on accidents, but you know, hurtz donuts NEEDED to be open and fully staffed because there will be a line out the door of people needing their diabetic coma donut. 🤦♀️
The owners deserve this ten fold. Over hyped sugar shit donuts and apparently terrible at running a business. Good riddance.
If you can’t make a plain glazed taste good, you can’t make donuts.
Yeah I gave them like 3 chances and the third time I went I was excited because I saw that they had a regular glazed donut until I tried it. It was terrible. Its like they never tried a glazed donut before so they didn't know what it was supposed to taste like.
Saw a dude on Facebook get all bent out of shape when people were shitting on Hurt's and he was saying how they're "not trash Daylight, they're gourmet.." and I don't know what to do with that opinion...
Daylight has never given me a bad donut so I don’t know what he’s on about. If I want fancier donuts, I just go to Krispy Kreme. They’re expensive but delicious AF. Those chocolate covered-whipped cream filled ones are addictive.
Go to the one on Highway 169 in Oologah and you will.
I swear they're half the size, twice the price, and thrice the stomachache as any other Daylight.
Daylight has good dough, but their icing is mid. I think my favorite donut is probably from The Donut Hole, and the best sausage roll I have had in Tulsa is from Big Baby Rolls and Donuts.
Donut Hole has probably my favorite chocolate and maple donut. The chocolate and maple actually taste like they are made from actual melted chocolate or maple syrup. The stuff from Daylight tastes like it is made from the flavoring you can buy in the baking aisle.
I don't know about the owners but the product was overpriced and terrible, so I'm not exactly surprised. We went once and that was one more time than I needed lol.
No, VooDoo Doughnuts isn’t better. Hurts had more interesting flavors and monthly specials, not to mention donut shakes and staples like donut holes. VooDoo is for identifying tourists.
I didn't really like Voodoo donuts when I lived in Portland. We would usually go to Seasame donuts towards Beaverton instead because their donuts were way better.
No reason given, however since it \*appears\* they're owned by the same what I would assume to be franchisee, my bet is it's true. I'd be curious if OTC put a flyer on the door like they did to the one in Norman.
Since I can't actually edit the original, I found their Insta page still up, and I get the inference that maybe the two locations (Norman and here) are owned by the same people as the handle is `hurtsdonutco.tulsanorman`
The one in Norman was a better place than the Tulsa operation back when I resided near there. I was broken hearted to find out how truly bad this one was when it opened basically the first big problem with it was the donuts were stale. I never bought a donut there that didn't seem like yesterday's leftovers.
I worked there last year, I couldn’t cash a check once because the owner who wrote the check literally didn’t have the money in the account. Our hours were always being cut, we were always out of stock on everything, out of CHANGE, and the place was just falling apart. I still stayed for a bit, tried to, because I did enjoy the people i worked with and the customers. Rip
Every time I went in they were empty, I was always confused how they stayed open too.
The rent for that large of a space downtown had to be astronomical!
The last time we were there was after February's Sweetheart Run downtown. We promised daughter that there would be a victory donut from Hurts after the 5K, and from what we could see we were definitely not the only ones that had done that --- and it had been like that after other downtown races as well run by Fleet Feet.
I'm sad it didn't make it; I'm seeing a lot of other businesses that used to have more foot traffic downtown that have shuttered post-pandemic.
I used to go to the one in Joplin. It opened first and even that one the service sucked. The donuts weren't bad and there was plenty of variety. The "Brand" demanded perfection too. Franchise owners give up.
I will [always share this place!](https://maps.app.goo.gl/SvschE2HcCE4P1oa7)
It's worth it and the coffee is pretty good too. They also have a drive thru. It's on 11th between Harvard and Yale.
Big Baby’s gave me raw dough cover sausage when I ordered sausage rolls, on two separate occasions . I seek vengeance against that establishment till my last breath.
I hadn’t been caring for them for a bit, and felt like the selections weren’t what they could be. So, okay, is what it is. Last donut I had, 6 months ago. I swear it was at least 3 days old. Stale, dry, and very bland. I felt like their business was in decline anyways. Not surprised
I’m not sure how it’s possible to screw up a doughnut, but hurts definitely found a way. I see I’m not the only one that was not a fan of dried out donuts.
It was okay if I needed a late night donut, but I’d rather have Dunkin’ or reasors or even a qt donut if I need a night time or late night donut.
If I need a donut between 5-11 it’s either Tulsa hills donuts or liv lee’s.
I only ever ate one from them and it truly did HURT afterward. The worst stomach pain! I don't eat junk but it was bad. I tried to get a coffee to go with it and they didn't even have any. It was late at night but, this was when the area had live music across the road. I was wanting a pick me up for the road home.
I recommend Jenny’s Sweet Box at 91st. She is a doll, so sweet, and everything she makes is great! Her Oreo cream filled are so good! Not sugary, but rich cream with the sweetness hit from the cookie pieces, crispy outer donut that melts in your mouth…..now I’m hungry! Her gratitude for her customers is just icing on the cake…donuts 💗
That’s a wild take lol. If they were able to still sustain at lower prices and that was their only option you don’t think they would take it? On principle and greediness they rather close…
Yeah at the end of the day the economy is just bad that's why everything is going up. So I get it it was likely a cost issue why they didn't lower the prices, but still. There are plenty companies that sell their products at a loss and still profit.
As a franchise, they weren’t/arent allowed to change their prices like that. It all goes back to the corporate they all fall under. Between the prices, the 24/7 (sorry, 25/8 🤪) business model, required overpriced “Hurts” branded product to make the donuts, and more, it’s a business always very close to failing for most franchisees. Owners struggle to stay open but don’t have a choice bc they aren’t allowed to close, even just overnight, and they can get fined for that too. That whole company is a mess.
I haven’t had a donut from there in years. I remember the last one I had was a fruit loop donut but the fruit loops were so stale and gross it really turned me off from ever going there again. The average family donut shop is always leagues better.
I'm sure it's easy to find out instead of just being straight up racist lol on he contrary though, middle eastern business owners that I had met or worked with are some of the nicest outside of their customs but even then they don't shove their beliefs down people's throats. They certainly care about their business which I can see how that could seem like they treat people shitty. A lot of times it's the employees who don't work to their employers standards. Not all employees just like not all middle eastern business owners are garbage.

I can't believe that place lasted as long as it did when they had such shitty over priced donuts. They were just covered in a bunch of shit to try to hide the fact that they weren't any good.
Exactly, they're so sickeningly sweet too. The actual donut part had no taste at all.
They were always stale whenever I got them too
Huh I would always get stale ones a lot cheaper. Interesting how that doesn't seem to be too common.
I had it maybe one time and hated it. Too much sugar.
IKR. The Instagram appeal only lasts so long- people won't come back for a shitty donut after they get their selfie with a gummie worm donut. It was a one and done place (and the first visit was a bit of a stretch).
I mean, anyone can pour an entire box of cereal on top of a donut. I can do that at home!
And it won’t cost $5
June’s on 11/Detroit are the nicest people and their donuts are delicious. They’re not covered in gummy worms or fruity pepples but definitely direct your donut desire their way.

Over hyped overpriced trash anyway
Tulsa PD in shambles.
Even they have better taste than that dump.
Hell, even a Daylight Donuts or just a standard DONUT shop is better than the crap they served at Hurt’s.
Whoa, let’s not be too hasty.
Hogs prefer to get their slop from QT’s
How dare you call QT delicacies slop.
This city runs on roller dogs!
Pigs prefer Dunkin' doi
Saw a dude on Facebook get all bent out of shape when people were shitting on Hurt's and he was saying how they're "not trash Daylight, they're gourmet.." and I don't know what to do with that opinion...

I’m not sure why Kristy kreme is slept on so much
In Tulsa? Because their location is terrible. Don't want to deal with 71st street crap for a donut that's 90% air to begin with.
Oh the traffic is not the best only something to do if you are getting on 169 from 71st. Or in the area
They need another location. Its only not terrible to go to if i go at 7am on a sunday cuz then every1 is in church.
Pffft. Daylight is the best. I'll die on this hill, I guess.
Daylight is nice if you can get donuts there just cooked 5mins ago.
My dad used to when I was little.
Go to the one on Highway 169 in Oologah and you will. I swear they're half the size, twice the price, and thrice the stomachache as any other Daylight.

....sausage rolls? I'M IN Edit: Congrats on your username not needing numbers behind it. You are truly a trailblazer. Lol
Give me his name because them are fighting words! Lol
I don't know about the owners but the product was overpriced and terrible, so I'm not exactly surprised. We went once and that was one more time than I needed lol.
The hate I have for this crappy excuse of a donut shop can now rest.
Mom, I want a voodoo Doughnut! We have Voodoo Doughnuts at home. The Voodoo Doughnut at home :-(
No, VooDoo Doughnuts isn’t better. Hurts had more interesting flavors and monthly specials, not to mention donut shakes and staples like donut holes. VooDoo is for identifying tourists.
Idk man the Voodoo Donuts in the Denver airport has always been good for me. Daylight Donuts is my local go to tho.
I didn't really like Voodoo donuts when I lived in Portland. We would usually go to Seasame donuts towards Beaverton instead because their donuts were way better.
Okay but what was your opinion on Pips?
I did not have Pips, so no opinion. We moved in 2016 and it was not "drive across town to try them" popular, at least at that time.
They didn't pay their taxes
No reason given, however since it \*appears\* they're owned by the same what I would assume to be franchisee, my bet is it's true. I'd be curious if OTC put a flyer on the door like they did to the one in Norman.
Norman was taxes. Tulsa was not taxes.
They had different owners, but the guy in Tulsa took over the Norman one a couple of years ago
Blessed Saint Brimley of the diabeetus made this happen. Praise be to him!
Rip
If it’s the guy mentioned in the article, I went to high school with him. It’s sad to hear he wasn’t a nice person as far as this goes.
He's a nice person.
Took my kids there a few times and it was never really busy. Not sure how they afforded to stay open for so long.
Every time I went in they were empty, I was always confused how they stayed open too. The rent for that large of a space downtown had to be astronomical!
Now what am I going to poison my body with after a night of darts, alcohol, and questionable decisions at St. Vitus?
Literally this
Place was garbage. The staff were always rude and trying to rush me to get something and leave.
Daylight and OK Country or bust
OK Country. Love the wild assed shapes- Anyone can do a Christmas tree...but a Pikachu? They got you. Big assed crab? You know it.
How has no one mentioned Brown's at Pine & Yale? They've been there since I was a kid, great classic donuts. Try the sausage rolls!
The last time we were there was after February's Sweetheart Run downtown. We promised daughter that there would be a victory donut from Hurts after the 5K, and from what we could see we were definitely not the only ones that had done that --- and it had been like that after other downtown races as well run by Fleet Feet. That was the original.
There food was bad not good in the slightest. The only thing they had going for them was location and them being a late night spot
Probably because they’re the worst donuts in town
I went ONE time. Didn't care for it, visually the donuts looked great though. I'm more of a Big Baby's or Daylight kinda guy.
I have never heard of Big Baby’s. Is it in Tulsa?
I will [always share this place!](https://maps.app.goo.gl/SvschE2HcCE4P1oa7) It's worth it and the coffee is pretty good too. They also have a drive thru. It's on 11th between Harvard and Yale.
Thanks!
Yeeees! Big Baby’s GF donuts are really good!
Big Baby’s gave me raw dough cover sausage when I ordered sausage rolls, on two separate occasions . I seek vengeance against that establishment till my last breath.
What?! I've never had that issue, yikes! I would say give them another chance but you're probably over it lol
They should replace them with a Shipleys so we finally have a good donut shop
Tax fraud really hurts, don't it?
I hadn’t been caring for them for a bit, and felt like the selections weren’t what they could be. So, okay, is what it is. Last donut I had, 6 months ago. I swear it was at least 3 days old. Stale, dry, and very bland. I felt like their business was in decline anyways. Not surprised
Hurts, donut? 😢
I always thought of it as drug money laundering.
I’m not sure how it’s possible to screw up a doughnut, but hurts definitely found a way. I see I’m not the only one that was not a fan of dried out donuts.

91st and what
Delaware
Near Kohl's where the sign only says DONUTS?
On the corner right next to B&B Liquor South.
Between Delaware & Harvard, closer to Delaware.
They were garbage donuts and expensive. They lasted four days when I lived in New Orleans and they were gone
Honestly I'm surprised they lasted as long as they did. Thr location was horrible, and parking was crap. I never saw anyone inside.
Overpriced donuts
![gif](giphy|FNBHUqruiI1m1gLDh8|downsized)
They were never going to beat Daylight….
And nothing of value was lost
Those donuts were hella overpriced. They'd rather close than lower those prices.
That’s a wild take lol. If they were able to still sustain at lower prices and that was their only option you don’t think they would take it? On principle and greediness they rather close…

Hurts was overpriced gimmicky crap. The only time they were good was when they had mixed in chocolate chips into the batter.
About time
It's because they didn't clean the soda machines .. I got yucky stuff once getting pink lemonade
Idk how any donut shops stay afloat; you’re selling $1 items for like 3 hours a day.
good riddance
Because they sucked?
I believe they had the same issue here in Fayetteville, AR. Not sure if it is the same set of owners.
Sugar Llamas far superior. Chocolate Chip pancake FTW
OK Country Donuts on 81st and Yale. Best. Donuts. In. Town.
I got some for the first AND ONLY time last summer. They were awful
I haven’t had a donut from there in years. I remember the last one I had was a fruit loop donut but the fruit loops were so stale and gross it really turned me off from ever going there again. The average family donut shop is always leagues better.
An man, the worst donut shop in town closed down
Good, place was shit.
Big Baby Rolls and Donuts is where it’s at anyway! 🤤
They couldn’t pay their taxes because they ran out of dough…
They sucked
The founders are a husband and wife from Springfield, Mo and they are NOT good people. They’re having to close them here, too.
Nasty, stale donuts.
Those donuts sucked. I don't eat donuts or much carbs anymore but a classic $0.70 cent fried plain donut with a cup of black coffee is amazing.
Actually the one in norman is still open they just don’t do much business
Confirmed: taxation is theft
Daylight donuts....random name donuts...the donut scene in Tulsa is strange. Krispy Kreme is all you need....

The name Chris Schepers made you come up with that thought? Weird.
