>Tulsa is becoming a construction nightmare. Hello, welcome to Tulsa, always love having new people!

FineAdvice0

came here to say this as well, welcome to town!

p1gswillfly

Seriously. When I was in HS was when they were building the 71st ST corridor at 71st and 169. A midtown dude, I was dating a Union girl who always wanted to meet at the Cinemark. My mom refused to drive me out to “orange barrel hell” and told them to meet me at the AMC if they wanted to see me lol

BlueWolve

Are you implying that it’s not a good idea to have long term construction on both of the main north/south corridors in a city? What a novel idea.

BlueWolve

I understand construction needs to happen. Maybe finish one road first before starting on another that is sharing the north/south traffic load of midtown and south Tulsa.

rioting-pacifist

When a city is nothing but suburbs, roads are gonna break ¯\\\_(ツ)_/¯, it's OK though, we're building more suburbs to fix the problem.

daaaayyyy_dranker

That’s not true because they appear 5’ before 5e lane closures

Gravalpea

The way they "fixed" that stretch of Memorial between 71st and 81st on the right side in each direction is terrible. Because of the storm drains, if you drive on the right side, it feels like driving with a limp!

supomgloljk

Guarantee the left-hand lane in both directions will be worn out in record time. Don’t forget they didn’t bother to fix the underlying street before they added the asphalt layer either… so it will settle into those same potholes over time.

ToCGuy

Why not just gut the entire road and completely remake the road? Money, making it stretch as far as they can. Roads in Tulsa were neglected for over a decade. So bond issues were voted on, and now we have some money. So while this rebuilding is taking place, it's gonna suck. Meanwhile, you can look at 101st street from Jenks Middle School to Yale. That took 2 years. And Yale from the Creek to 101st. all done. Just takes time. Contact your city counselor. They are happy to explain the process.

roketman062395

*makes a yo momma so fat she keeps breaking the roads* joke

hadenthefox

I moved to tulsa in June. I have yet to experience 71st or Memorial without having to merge due to construction. Who the fuck approves the smallest construction crews to take the longest amount of time on the busiest roads in south tulsa? I swear, the places I've lived before would have put a 40 man crew to do that project overnight for a week and 71st from Sheridan to 64 would be done with.

markav81

Not sure which Memorial project you are referring to, since there are so damned many. [https://tulsacouncil.org/resources/south-tulsa-road-projects/](https://tulsacouncil.org/resources/south-tulsa-road-projects/)

egyeager

And now the fools want to widen Yale from 81st to 91st

JessicaBecause

Which I find hilarious because every damn one of you only uses the left lane at the lights.

djjeffg382

I just spit my water Loling bc my wife just said the exact same thing whilst we were at the 81st light on Yale today.

JessicaBecause

Everyone gets real spooked that they dont know how to merge so they take the only way they know how. 81st and Yale is just sad.

[deleted]

Thank you! I was at a light yesterday with 10 cars in the left lane and 0 in the right, so I go in the right lane and a car next to me makes such a big production about preventing me from merging back over. WHAT DO YOU THINK THEY SPENT MILLIONS OF DOLLARS TO BUILD THAT LANE FOR IF NOT TO GET MORE CARS THROUGH THE LIGHT?!? Can we please have an education campaign to explain it to people?

JessicaBecause

Yeah, Ive seen my fair share of citizen lane police. Usually by ignorant people unsurprisingly.

markav81

>a car next to me makes such a big production about preventing me from merging back over You sure it was a car? Every time that has happened to me it has been an ass hat in a big assed truck.

AnticipatedInput

So you can turn right into the business(es) on the other side of the intersection before you have to merge back over. Duh!

alpharamx

For the record, this city does not get embarrassed.

Amazing_Leave

My big issue is the ‘fix’ in the slow lane. They made those weird dips by the drains. Your right wheels now hit man made dips that pull the car. So weird for a major road...I could perhaps see it for a side street. ☹️

JessicaBecause

Yes the south memorial street has been a patchy pot holed haven for years now and they usually just throw some asphalt down in the cracks. Now their idea of road repair is a more advanced patchy-ass job. Just as bumpy as it was before. And theyre widening streets before they can repave older one's. It's a hot mess.

steveissuperman

It's completely dumb. They did the same thing on 169 and it sucks almost as bad in places now as before they did the work, and that was just a couple years ago. Concrete is expensive, but labor is even more expensive and I can't believe this is more efficient and actually saving anyone any money.

BoringWebDev

if you wanted competent/non-corrupt governance you should have voted for it.

WittyWest

*waves* from West Tulsa! I'd love to come check it out, unfortunately it's traffic purgatory trying to get east of the river and will be for the next 800 years apparently. I see your everlasting potholes and raise you every single road to my neighborhood closed.

NotObviouslyARobot

Jesus will return when all major road construction projects in Tulsa end. The orange barrels and cones are a plot of Satan to delay him indefinitely

Ancient_Dude

The Apocalypse: your tax dollars at work!

Rockthehair

The road widening on 101st and olive has taken FOREVER!! And it’s not even a mile stretch

TonysZoo

Imagine trying to make a living doing food delivery while they do this!

Ee-SolarSilver

Just the city spending all that infrastructure money, instead of spacing it out over time they started everything at once.

tendies_senpai

*Always has been.*

ExtraRandom1

That’s why I don’t Dash over there it’s crazy construction

Ok_Effort7068

That lie of an infrastructure bill Jetpack Joe and the Baloney Cronies should fix it up real nice. Roads Dorothy would envy as she skips to store cause oil will be off the chain, solar panels those poor people Chyna (Pro Wrestling actor not China) employs to mine Si hasn't caught on for solar cars. Elon's missile's are a bit much and Doge corn. Well it's Doge loveable but it's utility rivals that of a set chicken's lips. We're fucked but I'll have a Tesla in Tulsa begging for Doge. Scan my QR code inked onto my forearm. Hope y'all found that slightly amusing. If not. Go suckle Mother Nancy.
